I wouldn't stand to be put off so long, especially with a child. I've left two Doctor's because of long waits in the waiting room. My Ortho sees me within 5 minutes of my appt. Sometimes the Doctor needs to be informed. I was a business man and never kept anybody waiting.

Did anybody watch Deal or No Deal, they had a young single Mother from Alaska and she was doing great.

Sorry to blast at the Doctor's but I think it's a real disgrace that they have people sit around and wait so long, like our time isn't important. :sad2:

Oh yeah, it's unlikely that I'll ketchup to the 200+ pages but I'll take a stab at it. And in case you're wondering, we came back ahead $40.

And just let me tell you about the FREAKS we saw running around town! The biggest one was the 60something overly tanned guy (we're talking about saddlebag with eyes leathery tanned) who wanted to come into the fancy chophouse for a drink wearing a friggin' tank top!!!! DUDE they aren't going to let you in because they hair on you back and shoulders is going to gag the patrons!

The hostess found him a shirt to wear (ewwwww ) and then we had to listen to him blather for an hour to some guy trying to watch the game about how he retired before 40, is worth $5M+ blah blah blah!

Totally understand that one. I guess they think "anything goes" in Vegas.

And if they have to brag about it, they're lying.........

Great pictures, did you enjoy?

Very much so! We had absolutely PERFECT weather! I think the best weather we've ever had in a park, not too hot, not at all chilly. The crowds weren't bad at all (until Sunday, but we left that day) and Todd and Melissa are two of the nicest, most fun people you'd want to meet.
The lines especially didn't seem long, when we were yapping away!

We got lucky and got the exact room layout that I had hoped we would get. One bedroom, two bath suite, with three balconies! We had a view in every direction!

LOL thats Vegas for you ....Well next time you come let me know .....

pirate:

We sure will! And now that we know the deal at Capriotti's is for real, we'll at least be able to eat cheap! FWIW not sure if there are any Delawareans here but if you're in Vegas you can go to most any of the Capriotti's sub shops and get a free sub if you show your DE driver license! :thumbsup2 A couple of them will write your DL number down because the deal is only good one time but the Capriotti's inside Red Rock doesn't bother with all that (probably because they've only seen 3 DE licenses )

Did I every tell you about the "Rules for Getting What You Want"? Jakob was bugging me about something when he was about 5. Makin' me pull-over-and-strangle-the-kid crazy. In a flash of (desparate) brillance I asked him if he'd like to know the best way for getting what he wants. Being a bright kid he figured this was valuable information - "Sure!". And so the "Rules for Getting What You Want" were born:

1) Ask once. Ask nicely. And give mom time to think about it.
2) If the answer is "No" don't whine (I had to demonstrate whining to him) or cry about it or the answer is automatically "No" again the next time you ask.
3) If you bug me about what you want (I had to demonstrate bugging = asking repeatatively) the answer is always "No".

They work great!!

Then little brother came along. He inherited the Rules. He's slightly more clever than big brother...
I asked him to take something to the trash for me once. "No, I don't want to." Please, would you take this to the trash? The little monster looked me in the eye and quoted the Rules back to me. "Don't ask more than once or the answer is always 'No'." :rotfl2:

Being a quick mom I, on the spot, invented Rule #4. These rules only work for Parents.

What a great idea.... until it gets to my kids. Saw this, discussed with DW and we thought cool. Of course my 9yo lawyer to be starts with:

Do I have to do my homework?
Do I have to do my homework?
Do I have to do my homework?
Do I have to do my homework?
Do I have to do my homework?
Do I have to do my homework?

Why aren't you saying no?....:rotfl2:

:cheer2:
Seems like a lot of animal lovers here. I'm welcoming any suggestions regarding Morgan, our black and white Bearded Collie. He broke his right rear hind leg on Sunday. I was taking him, Bailey (our other Beardie), and my daughters out to my parents so they could play. Morgan was a rescue, so he's always been timid and he is a drool machine in cars because of his nervousness. Anyway, pulling into my parents driveway, I rolled the window down so he could drool outside the van and he jumped out. The Vet said his upper hind leg snapped with some fragments and that another area had a hairline fracture, but got the leg set. He's still at the vet's, but will come home either later today or tomorrow. Vet said that Morgan had to be immobilized for at least 3 weeks so that he doesn't put pressure on the leg. The best thoughts from the vet were keeping Morgan in a large crate. Any other ideas on immobilizing a dog?

 How sad for your collie!

It sounds like a crate may be your best bet to keep him still.:grouphug:

justm. :yay: ...you really bring alot of fun to our site...it so neat how
you sneak in on your kids!

You mean like this: (they were mad enough that I took a picture, and will be even more mad to know I posted, but I haven't seen the two ST's this close in years!)

We closed down the parks a couple of nights....and I took some time to just sit in front of the castle......Interesting how the reflection is more clear than the castle.......

It is in the news now.

http://www.adn.com/news/alaska/story/8742706p-8644449c.html

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/309087_coast27.html

He was one of a group the other guys referred to as "The Backstreet Boys". Five good-lookin', early 20's young men who always seemed to be together.

What these stories don't mention is that he married his 20yo wife last May and she is about three months pregnant...and a widow.

I'm still sick over this. We are having a family meeting with chaplains and counselors tonight. I know it will be good to go, but I am not looking forward to it.

Gosh I am so sorry for your family. :sad1:

I worked with someone who used to be a Coastie and she would regale us with stories of rapelling down the stacks of 10-15 high shipping containers just to check a ship's manifest. She would always tease the retired USAF and Army guys about being in a "real" armed force because she manned the shotgun at every boat contact/drug interdiction. USCG truly is the forgotten armed service.

:cake: Happy Birthday Mike and Samantha :cake:

ahhhhhhh Spring is here.

The birds are singing.
The flowers are starting to burst thru.
and.......

The UPS and FedEx drivers are wearing shorts!!!!!!!!

I had shorts on this afternoon reading the meters, it was sooooooooooooooooo nice to get out of that winter garb...........

My ortho doc said everything is looking as good as can be expected. He did say that I have arthritis on the inside of both knees, but I already knew that....... As long as no major problems arise, I will go back to see the ortho doc next March for my annual check-up. :upsidedow

:lmao: That's always a sign spring has sprung!

We grilled hamburgers tonight - another sure sign of spring:thumbsup2

Oh, grilled burgers. My grill still has 3 feet of snow on it.
Sign of spring - the weather lady almost did handsprings because they are predicting that we will get above freezing by the end of the week. Maybe even a high of 40 this weekend!

Spring here is yucky. 6 weeks of slush and mud. We call it "breakup". Everyone has a pair of breakup boots. Then we have "green day" when everything turns green and lush and beautiful in less than a week.

Hi everyone! We're back from Vegas! :hippie:

Glad you had fun! I would like to go back to Vegas someday when it isn't 120 degrees and I'm not pregnant. It wasn't much fun the first time around.

Sk8tingmom: I know your family and DH's CG family are going through a difficult time, but I saw a car with Alaskan license plates pulling out of a Target parking lot in Columbus, Ohio. Had to smile.

Thanks Joel. :thumbsup2 on the license plate. I'm keeping mine when we move - SK8 FAM. DH lobbied against SK8 MOM since he always inherits my car when we get a new one. Yup, I get the new cars. I married a man just like my daddy - spoils me rotten!

(Keep in mind 'new' is a relative term. We drive our cars into the ground. Right now our cars have 170,000 and 90,000 miles on them - 9 & 4 years old)

So sorry about your doggie. Yeah, keep 'im still. No problem, right?

5 mill and he couldn't spring for a backy waxy???
(as I'm guessing O'Blender would say)

Yeah, they get to do some interesting shirt that you don't hear about on the news every night.

DH has spent 14 years in counter-narcotics & anti-terrorism in the nice safe Coast Guard.
Checked out of his room in the Cobar Tower in Saudi Arabia about 3 months before it was blown up in '96.

At least we always live by the beach!

Want to feel old? Here's a pic of The Beaver, Wally and Eddie Haskell that I received from an online friend while I was at the docs. This pic is for those who remember who these three TV characters are(were).....................
