You know I am sitting here (well laying here in bed) contemplating my new TV. The TV that died last night was an 8-year-old 32" Sony Trinitron. It was somewhere over $1,000. Now I may have mentioned a time or two that I'm cheap. Well that salesmen hard-sold us into that TV. It was more $$ then I wanted to spend on a set. Top of line.....long life....blah, blah, blah...and we bought it. Mind you, our 17-year-old Sharp and 22-year-old Zenith still work, but the Top of the Line Sony is kaput! So last night I didn't want to be SOLD anything. We went in for the TV on sale, period. We wound up with a LCD flat screen 32" widescreen HDTV TV. It is pretty neat too! It is an unknown brand, but hey, it only cost $599. If it lasts 5 years, then dollar for dollar we did better than we did with the Sony.

That is all we have in the house now is LCD, I have a plasma in the den. Prices on TVs nowadays are great compared to a couple of years ago. Hope you enjoy! And hopefully you will get many years out of it.

Great price! What brand?

B&N shipped the POC dice games today. I hope it is fun. I will have to try it out with the family and then my BUNCO group. It will be enough for 8 to play at a time or 2 tables of 4 would probably be better.

Ahhh Paula the Plasma must be nice!!! Maybe after our TOAL :rotfl:

You ever notice life has now been broken down into two specific timeframes and categories:

Life before TOAL
Life After TOAL

Life after TOAL will have more money in it, but will be much less exciting......

There are a lot of assisted living centers that are very nice. My Nana wil be 89 in May and still lives at her home, but really needs to move to an ALC. She has taken many tumbles, but luckily no broken bones. She also has a multi level home. I can't imagine being faced with having to leave my home, but it was wonderful your grandmother was able to stay in hers so long.
Have fun at the party. She deserves a big one!:)

She is in a really nice center. It is only about 2-3 years old. We went into about 3 prior to it and were very disappointed with what we saw. We walked into the one she is in and knew right away it was the right place.

When she first moved into the center, and while in rehab also, she did not want to go back to the house at all. It's the whole, "remember it like it was" thing. But now she is talking about going back to go through a few things later this spring. So that's good.

We aren't doing a party but will "spring" her from the "joint" for a good dinner. Her other son, my uncle, will be in town this weekend so we'll all go out. I'm suspecting that since it is on Saturday and it is the first time she is in the center, I think she will have a lot of visitors that day.

Congrats on your Nana's 89th.

That's the catch brack...Insignia (I think maybe a Best Buy Brand)

I just now saw an Olevia 32" LCD Widescreen HDTV TV advertised at KMart for $499!! I was RIPPED OFF, I'm returning my Insignia and getting an Olevia!!

NOT!!!!

DH would kill me.................:rotfl: :rotfl:

We bought a 42" Samsung LCD last fall and paid $$$$$. It was disappointing until we sprung for HD channels from our cable provider. The HD channels look great .... so great I rarely watch the low def channels anymore :happytv:

That means we could host a couple of games during each shift on Secret Deck 7! WOOHOO!

To tell the truth, I really can't tell a difference in any of them. They all have great pictures.
Life before and after is so true. I think of it as probably last true "family" trip. I am really glad that Adam is 18 and self sufficient. But there are times when I wish he were still little. Not that I want to start over (NEVER!)....I know that you know what I mean.

I think it has been very slow today too.

I like Friday night chats.....much faster.

I can't keep up with the Friday night chats. Then when I scroll up to see what was said earlier, it goes right back down when a new post pops up. I know you can bring up the history, but it's a pain.

That is still a good price. I want to check out the WalMart deal. Thanks for sharing. :happytv:

Wow a 42" would be great!! But since this is a bedroom TV and has to fit in a TV Amoire 32" was the biggest we could go. When our 57" Projection TV goes, I'll be looking at some of the Big Boys!!

Are you going to volunteer to be a shift monitor? That would not be a schedule I would want to make. :lmao:

Nope me either, I'd let everyone in, and before you know it the nose would lift out of the sea...........

I have that Titantic image in my head now........

I have tried to scroll a few times and just gave up. I just watch what I can and but in when I can. And my spelling is way worse in chat than on the boards.

Yet another ode to full figured loveliness and a classic by Queen:

Are you gonna take me home tonight ?
Ah down beside that red firelight
Are you gonna let it all hang out ?
Fat bottomed girls
You make the rockin' world go round

Was just listening to that in the car with the girls yesterday. :rotfl2:

OMG!

Guilty as charged to varying degrees - just today in fact!

Since it is slow I thought I would post this. This might bring out the swabbies.

This is called the MEN DECODER.

I'm going fishing."
Really means..."I'm going to drink myself dangerously stupid, and stand by a stream with a stick in my hand, while the fish swim by in complete safety." I don't fish....

"That's interesting, dear."
Really means... "Are you still talking?"
Guilty as of yesterday or today....
