Wow:thumbsup2 He's only 12 ? That is really really good:thumbsup2
That would make a cute door sign for the cruise::yes::

Thanks! I thought that it would be cute on our door as well, but ds showed me a bunch of signs he has already made us on my dh's laptop. I guess that's one thing I can delegate! :goodvibes

I am very impressed!!! Maybe he could draw me a nice Mickey for my wall in the kitchen.:cool1:

If I mention it to him, he probably will!

Mickey Mouse Club graphic

For all those "do it yourself-ers" out there. I found the graphic in a book, scanned it, cleaned up the scan a little and posted it at photobucket. I'm just posting a link, since I scanned it as large as I could and it is over 400MB! I don't know if any of our pirates are still using dial-up, but if they are they wouldn't appreciate waiting for that to load up :cool1:

You can look at and download it from here. It is at 250dpi and is about 8" in diameter. If you want it smaller (i.e. kid's shirts or smaller women's shirts) you should be able to resize it down without too much trouble.

I would suggest using the transfer paper that they say is for "dark shirts" even though it is going on a white shirt since the colors will be much more vibrant. Unfortunately, it ends up feeling a little plastic-y - but it isn't too bad (DS tends to be very sensitive to how clothes feel and he isn't bothered too much by this as long as the whole shirt isn't covered with it. The other advantage of the "dark shirts" is that when you print onto the transfer you do not have to reverse the image - much easier for those who haven't tried this before.

For those who want to try this and haven't done it before, it isn't all that difficult - I'm not particularly crafty and have made a number of shirts for DS. A few tips I've learned over time.

* Wash the shirt first - sometimes there is sizing or starch in them which will cause the transfer to not work as well. When you wash it, skip the fabric softener or dryer sheet.

* 100% cotton works best, but I've done OK with 60% cotton

* Cut out the design, don't try to iron on the entire sheet. Square corners are particularly difficult so always cut rounded. (The circle shape of this logo should work great!)

* Preheat the iron - you want it good and hot before you start.

* Always iron on a hard surface - and ironing board will NOT work. I have used a butcher-block counter top and my glass cooktop in the past. I have also used the floor (wood laminate). Put a thin piece of fabric between the hard surface and the T-s**** - I usually use an old pillowcase. Lightly iron the shirt flat before you put the transfer on.

* Take a minute to make sure it is centered - If you can't eyeball it, use a ruler! Nothing looks sillier than an off-center design.

* Push down hard as you iron.

* Check the instruction from the transfer paper for how long to iron. Set a timer since once you are ironing and pushing down it starts seeming like forever and its only been 30 seconds!

* In the future, when you wash the T-s****, turn it inside out so that the transfer is on the inside.

If anyone has any questions, just PM or post and I'll try and answer. There are probably others here who have done this before also who could also offer advise. I have often found T-S**** on sale at Hobby Lobby or other crafty stores for $3 or $4. The transfer paper can sometimes be found at Dollar stores, but even if you buy it somewhere like Target I think you can get it for around $10 for 3 sheets, so $3.33 per shirt for a grand worse case total of about $7.33 per shirt.

Pamela

Thanks Pamela.
When I had the T-s***t business, I would place a piece of cardboard under the shirt when I heat set the paints. Also, Joannes sells the transfer paper and usually has a 40% coupon in the paper each week. That is where I got mine.

HAPPR BIRTHDAY JR!!!!!!!!:cake:

40:confused: JR your still a baby:)
Cheryl and I are still waiting to get together for that drink:drinking1

JOHN

Two men walk into a bar. Wait, that's just dumb. You would think after the first guy hit it, the other one would have ducked.

Two elephants are sitting in a bathtub. The one in front turns to the one in back and says 'pass the soap'. The one in back says 'What do you think I am, a typewriter?'

Sorry, best I can do. My brain is in old gear tonight. (I am just 2-1/2 short hours from turning 40 and I am going to stay up until I am 'one day closer to death')

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

40th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!!!!!!!!

:yay: :yay:

Ok..decided to post the pirate joke I wasn't going to the other day but since we are posting jokes...

This pirate walks into a bar with a big ship's wheel down his pants. The bartender says, "Excuse me, sir, but do you know you have a ship's wheel down the front of your pants?"
And the pirate says...
Aaargh, it's driving me nuts!!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks. In the grand scheme of things, I know we are very fortunate, but it is getting difficult putting up with jobs we hate, a school we hate, etc. I know we are lucky to have jobs, school, etc. but I just need to wallow for a while. We really need to get the kids out of their school, but Catholic school doesn't seem like an option because DS9 has an IEP and won't get the help he needs. Plus I doubt we'd get them in anywhere for next year anyway. We are just stuck. Granted, there are worse places to be stuck, but it still sucks.

M....sorry to hear about the bad day yesterday. Sounds like you are between a rock and a hard place. Hope things start to improve for you! :flower3:

1) What's the FIRST thing that comes to mind that you're looking forward to about our cruise?

I love the sail away time, it is so exciting. Also, I love to sit on our verandah and watch the waves. And, of course, meeting all my fellow pirates!!!

2) What is your FAVORITE kind of DESSERT which you hope to get on the cruise?

I love brownies with ice cream and chocolate sauce!!! :)

3) What are your favorite hobbies (or substitute interests - if any)

I love to scrapbook, but don't really have much time to do it. Also like gardening. Boy, I sound lame on paper.

4) Do you have a favorite music - bands - performers - or such?

I LOVE MUSIC, I wouldn't even know where to start. Love Bare Naked Ladies, Five for Fighting, lots of music the kids love (A little Hannah Montana and the Jonas bros never hurt anyone), Sarah McLaughlan (sp?), Broadway shows, John Denver, Lifehouse, Peter Gabriel, U2, James Taylor, as you can see, I have a very mixed taste in music. I typically make different playlists depending on my mood (ie, Autumn fun, cleaning mix, work fun, Mexico mix etc) and put them on shuffle.

5) Right or left handed? OR.. are we ambidexterous?

So far, the only lefty!

6) Pose a QUESTION for the NEXT person to respond to this....

Which port are you looking forward to the most?

Hmmmm, I think Puerto Vallarta as we are zipping and we have so much time to explore!

7A)Favorite Charachter, Pooh and friends

7B)Chai tea!!! Yummy

My question for the next person...

7C) How many days will you be gone from your home for this trip? For me it will be 21 days!!!!

My Dh wore one of his new pairs of swimtrunks yesterday... Small problem was that they have pockets which fill up while underwater. They do have drains but when he got out of the pool it looked like his pockets were peeing.:lmao:

Tell me about...rushed home after work to go swim and the water was so warm it wasn't even refreshing...

How's this for funny.... (Fr. Mike i apologize in advance...)

The seven dwarfs go to the Vatican, and because they are the seven dwarfs, they are immediately ushered in to see the Pope. Grumpy leads the pack.

'Grumpy, my son,' says the Pope, 'What can I do for you?'

Grumpy asks, 'Excuse me your Excellency, but are there any dwarf nuns in Rome?'

The Pope wrinkles his brow at the odd question, thinks for a moment and answers, 'No, Grumpy, there are no dwarf nuns in Rome..'

In the background, a few of the dwarfs start giggling.

Grumpy turns around and glares, silencing them.

Grumpy turns back, 'Your Worship, are there any dwarf nuns in all of Europe?'

The Pope, puzzled now, again thinks for a moment and then answers, 'No, Grumpy, there are no dwarf nuns in Europe.'

This time, all of the other dwarfs burst into laughter.

Once again, Grumpy turns around and silences them with an angry glare.

Grumpy turns back and says, 'Mr. Pope! Are there ANY dwarf nuns anywhere in the world?'

The Pope, really confused by the questions says, 'I'm sorry, my son, there are no dwarf nuns anywhere in the world.'

The other dwarfs collapse into a heap, rolling and laughing, pounding the floor, tears rolling down their cheeks, as they begin chanting......

'Grumpy shagged a penguin!'

'Grumpy shagged a penguin!'

BTW ....silly silly pirates...there's no emblem on MM club shirts (at least the original ones)
MMCGROUPWWALT.jpg

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I loved the joke. Thanks.
Yup our pool is bath water and I hate warm pools!!!!
The deep recesses of my brain are telling me the emblem was on the back????? Or is this a senior moment. If DM had not thrown out my Mickey Mouse Club book I may have had the answer.:furious:

Getting into a fight in the parking lot was the farthest thing from my mind, it wasn't even on the horizon.

I was in a great mood and then I rear-ended a car.

So there we are alongside the road and slowly the driver gets out of the car and you know how you just-get-sooo-stressed and life-stuff seems to get funny?

Well, I could not believe it, he was a Dwarf.

He storms over to my car, looks up at me and says, "I AM NOT HAPPY!"

So, I look down at him and said, "Well, which one are you then?"

And that's when the fight started.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I just rented the Black and White Combo for $120. Comes with 1 Black Jacket,1 White Jacket,1 Pr. Black Slacks,2 Tux S****s,black Cumberbund and Tie,Cuff Links and Studs. He'll wear his own shoes.

Am I going to get points for this???

EVE'S SIDE OF THE STORY

After three weeks in the Garden of Eden, God came to visit Eve. 'So, how is everything going?' inquired God.

'It is all so beautiful, God,' she replied. 'The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking, the smells, the sights, everything is wonderful, but I have just one problem...

'It's these breasts you have given me. The middle one pushes the other two out and I am constantly knocking them with my arms, catching them on branches and snagging them on bushes. They're a real pain,' reported Eve.

And Eve went on to tell God that since many other parts of her body came in pairs, such as her limbs, eyes, ears, etc.......... she felt that having only two breasts might leave her body more 'symmetrically balanced.'

'That's a fair point,' replied God, 'But it was my first shot at this, you know. I gave the animals six breasts, so I figured that you needed only half of those, but I see that you are right. I will fix it up right away.'

And God reached down, removed the middle breast and tossed it into the bushes.

Three weeks passed and God once again visited Eve in the Garden of Eden.

'Well, Eve, how is my favorite creation?'

'Just fantastic,' she replied, 'But for one oversight. You see, all the animals are paired off. The ewe has a ram and the cow has her bull. All the animals have a mate except me. I feel so alone.'

God thought for a moment and said, 'You know, Eve, you are right. How could I have overlooked this. You do need a mate and I will immediately create a man from a part of you. Lets see........... where did I put the useless b**b?'

Now doesn't THAT make more sense than that stuff about the rib?

Thanks you guys.:goodvibes

Happy 40th J. R.!!!!

I was just looking for the list of what the "attire" is for dinner each night. I'm trying to plan my packing accordingly, without my FI knowing, but I'm lost. I know I've seen it on the planning boards before. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks!

If you are looking for which nights are formal, semi-formal, etc., its in the day by day title for each section on the boards. All other nights are "cruise casual"

If you are looking for packing lists, I think they are in the itinerary section.

You can use the search feature at the top too on the boards, it works there.

Just a reminder! Time to order your wristbands. Thanks to everyone who has replied so far. Sales are going well, but I still haven't heard from a number of you who were part of my head count!

New Pirates are welcome to order too!
Orders for Wristbands Are Now Open
and will close on Saturday, June 14th.

Basic Information.
Wristband will be available for .55 cents each. This is based on ordering 500. We have a head count close to 400, so extra will be ordered to get to 500. Who knows we may go beyond that!

Text on the wristband will read DCL 2008 PANAMA CANAL and have a small skull & crossbones on the left side of the text. (This was the winning text in the poll)

SizesWristbands come in 3 sizes:
L = 8 inches
M = 7.5 inches
S= 7 inches
To get an idea of the size you can cut a strip of paper to the above measurements and try it around your wrist. This will give you an idea of how it will fit once on your wrist. Remember the wristband will stretch to go over the wide part of your hand, but the paper strip won’t!

Colors
Choices are Red/Black or Lime Green (For the DIS fans, sorry Todd!)
You can mix and match sizes and colors. Just state the quantity of each size and colored desired.

Delivery
If you want your order delivered before the cruise I can mail them out to you. Up to 4 wristbands can be mailed in a business size envelope for 1st class postage. ( I will have to figure out postage on larger amounts)
Or I can deliver them on the ship or DL resort area pre-cruise.

Payment
If you would like your wristbands delivered on the ship we can settle up than. If you would like them mailed to you pre-cruise a check will work.

So please go to ORDER WRISTBANDS to order yer wristbands!
