Ok, so wasn't there talk about how wonderful it is to have mature trees in your yard??? Notsomuch yesterday. We have 10-12 HUGE oak trees in our yard. 50-60 footers. Big storm came through and knocked a giant branch down - probably fell 30-40 feet onto our deck and tempered glass patio table that seats 6. Table is shattered, a chunk of deck rail is gone.

We've had so much rain here in the last month that the ground is just completely saturated and trees are falling down. Huge trees are down all over our neighborhood - 2 are blocking streets and took power lines down with them. Our power went out yesterday afternoon and I doubt it will be back up for days.

On DH's way home yesterday, he missed being hit by a falling tree by 2 car lengths. He was right by Mount Vernon, heard a crash and saw nothing but tree in his rear view mirror. Truck 2 spots behind him was completely destroyed. The driver was OK, but get this, only DH and one lady stopped to help. The road was completely blocked and no one bothered to get out of their car to help. I hate this place for that reason...not because trees are falling down.

Oh and get this - they didn't cancel school...so the kids got on the bus, I came in to work & I just got a call that school was cancelled and I have to go pick them up. We work a freeking hour from home! The after-school program is keeping them, but we have to pick them up ASAP because the kids shouldn't be there without power. Huh? So why not cancel school this morning?? I really truly hate our school & district - for many reasons, but that's my reason for ranting today.

Anyway, I'm happy to report that we are all safe - but what a pain. At least we planned to go away this weekend anyway!

Glad everyone is ok
Sorry for the bad day you are having - just keep thinking TOAL is only 10 weeks away

I just ordered my fish extender and got an email asking what I wanted on it, colors, names, etc. Do other people end up putting everyone's name on it? I want our last name at the top but I don't know about first names. Does anyone else worry about that? Thanks!

What about nicknames or DIS names?

We aren't used to eating dinner much before 7pm our time....And if we had early dinner that would mean the 8pm show.... I couldn't watch one of the shows on a full stomach... I might fall asleep! LOL!

I fell asleep for a minute during Twice Charmed on our last cruise.

I had a full belly....ship gently rocking....the lights went down....and I was fighting to stay awake. I remember thinking to myself "I'll just close my eyes for a moment"....next thing I know, I feel a tiny bit of drool coming out of the corner of my mouth, which woke me right up! Ds next to me thought something was wrong because I sat up so suddenly.

Monica, I am sure that you have said this before, but I forgot -- how much in advance of the cruise are we hoping to have the dates and times for the private tastings? And will we eventually have to sign up in some more official way (reservation number, etc.)?

Thanks so much to you and Laurie for doing this . . .:thumbsup2

Right now we are waiting on a response from DCL.

I think last year I knew when I was tasting before I knew where I was sleeping. So we got the info before 30 days.

Don't fear.... 95 and humid is only a few days away!

Normally we don't eat dinner until 7 or 7:30pm at home either but last time we were on the cruise and had the late dinner we were all dragging. The kids do better with early. We figure we can just go to topsiders if there is a night or two that we want to eat a little later or getting back from port later. That is the beauty of this longer cruise I don't feel like I will be missing out if we don't get to the dining room once or twice :goodvibes

I definitely would fall asleep in the show. I can stay up later if I'm doing things, but if I'm sitting watching something, I'll fall asleep.

Usually these things are assigned about 30 days out though on our last PC cruise we didn't find out until 2 weeks prior :scared1:

Tom - I have it and readily accessible but my scanner is broken or else is being finicky on when it wants to scan. I can see if DD can jerry-rig something to get it over to you. Whom do I send it soo? Just let me know.

Take a picture of it with one of your fancy cameras

I hope so. Wouldn't want everyone running to the other end of the ship when I go in somewhere...might tip the ship! ;)

That's actually been planned. We have Captain Jack Sparrow on board. He will be trying to get us to flip the ship in order to reach the ends of the earth.

We will keep your DD in our prayers Cheryl.

Here you go Andy

I'm curious Andy....were the photos taken with the camera set to the underwater setting? I was hoping that the setting would filter out much of the blue and green so I wouldn't have to. But I have Roger's directions saved from last year so if I have to do it myself at least I have instructions.

I thought that was odd.....but did you email Laurie with your requests?? Or is it just a given that you will drink whatever RUM and Tequila we put in front of you?? :rotfl:

I would say that was pretty much a given ...Hello :badpc: :badpc:

Fun! I've always wanted to try. Think it works like cow tipping? :)

I just called my cellular carrier (Verizon) and here are their current rates for using "Cellular At Sea" onboard the Magic when not in port:

voice calls are $2.49/minute
text messages sent are 50 cents each
text messages received are 5 cents each

Voice calls while in a Mexican port are only 99 cents/minute with text message rates the same as above, so voice calls are cheaper in port.

Voice calls in Aruba or the Bahamas are $1.29/minute. Verizon does not have service in Panama or Colombia.

Cheryl, prayers said!

DH wanted a larger home for several reasons -- we have 5 children, 2 are adults BUT, we hope to someday have grandchildren from all of them ;) And we wanted a house where they could all come home to and the grandkids would always find plenty to do! If we only had a couple of children we wouldn't have bought a house this size. We think it is very odd the BIL & his wife have 2 children and a home the same size as ours...and they're building a larger home....that never even have out of town guests :confused3 (MIL/FIL and ourselves have out of town guests regularly).

Oh Stephanie,
I'm sorry - I didn't mean to sound critical of large homes - not my intent. I must admit that having guests stay over makes it too "cozy" for us at times!!!!:rotfl:
