Thanks AndrewR! now I have to go out and buy me this one. Actually Andy - I just saw it at Sam's for under $350 so I think I will get it. I hate FRY'S and refuse to buy another camera from them. Their customer service sucks and they have yet to live up to their promise of replacing a camera under warrenty. So now, I will stick to either Ritz Camera or Best Buy. I can usually make something work and I seem to be able to hunt down a bargain when I want. I just love the fact that its shockproof. I saw a camcorder that was shockproof and I am trying to get DH to buy me one -but so far no go - want to know why?

I'm with you on Fry's but our local BB and Ritz didn't stock it :(

I took an HD camcorder on the last Magic cruise, but also took it's underwater housing - it was too much hassle. This time I'm bring the cam, but leaving the housing at home.

Andy

BTW, since photobucke is allowing me to download - save yourself some money and here is the Natural Bridge in Aruba

Back end of the Natural Bridge:

Here is the portion of the bridge that fell in January of '05 I think. I wrote about it in my blog for Aruba. Although it looks safe, the government cannot guarantee anyone walking on and therefore prohibit or request that no one walk on it. Fat lot of good that does doesn't it?

Hence this sign:

And the aftermath if you get caught in the spray:

You know that's good to know - never thought about the weight of the underwater housing - but yeah - I'm sure it will add. I bought an underwater housing for my ipod and while I love it - used it once on the trip, it did make the ipod from a small, lightweight to a small paperback size item. But since I can "read" and "hear music" its worth it.

Anyway, this camcorder I was asking for I've only seen it at Fry's - its orange and I think sony but not too sure - I took a picture of it on my iphone and its shockproof and water-resistent up to a few feet. So if DH ever gets caught in another spray, we'll be ok. ::yes::

I personally love my sony cybershot.

I have to put in a vote for the Panasonic Lumix TZ3,4 & 5.

Ok, they aren't waterproof, and they aren't ultra-small... But the pictures they take are stunning and they go from wide angle (which is very handy), to 10x optical zoom (optical image stabilized no less).

I did find a waterproof bag for it, so I might just stick with that approach rather than going with the Olympus (which I'm sure is a very fine camera).

Thanks Lisa! We'll have DDs 9 & 7 w/us, so probably anything a typical girl would enjoy. Unfortunately, we won't have tons of time, usually a few hours here and there, particularly the evening. The games are 4pm Thur (June 26th), 11:30am Friday, 10am and 4pm Saturday and Sunday is TBA. We're staying near the airport. We plan to head down to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell on Friday afternoon...While down in that area, any suggestions on other interesting things to see, like a history museum or other historical sites? We'll have some free time on Saturday between 10am game and 4pm game, any suggestions on how to kill a few hours in Aston or easy drive to someplace around Aston? Since evenings will be light, any good kid friendly restaurants or activities?

Thanks again!

Not a lot in that part of the burbs. I imagine you're going to be at ice works in Aston. (cruisin'mike & I are a stone''s throw away)

There is a roller skating rink close to ice works.
Zac's hamburgers & a Bruster's ice cream right next to each other.
Linvilla orchard. Pick your own fruit (strawberry season), trout fishing, small area with animals (birds, sheep, oh- and EMUs) farmer's market & playground my kids love this place.

My return trip was changed today for the second time, but luckily the nonstop flight was now about the price of the non-stop I originally had which was no longer available, so I switched! I'll get in 7 hours earlier now ::yes::

I have the 1030 and the 770, somewhere on DIS there are pics I took last year at CC (and subsequently color corrected by Roger),

Andy

Those pictures are what sent me to the store to get a new camera and what also got me to book the snorkeling excursion on CC.

That reminds me, what is the differenc between digital and optical zoom?

Which is better? Zoom is something I need, along with a good flash!

Not an expert, but digital zoom isn't really a true zoom. It's just like using cropping software to edit your photo. Optical zoom let's you truly zoom in at the same resolution so optical zoom is the only really important zoom to consider when buying a camera.

The only thing I would add to this is the optical zoom is ok if you don't reduce the pixels too much. One of my cameras tells me how many pixels the picture will be as I zoom. If I want to enlarge at all, I don't reduce the pixels at all. But if I just want a 4x6, I don't mind using the optical zoom a bit.

Cheryl, I'll be thinking of you and your DD today. I'd give you a call, but you know how that ends up :lmao:

We are not that far behind. It cost me $109 to fill up my baby yesterday. And I had to use the card twice since it shut off at $75.00 Boy do I hate doing that. On the other hand - saw diesel at $5.50 a gal/ltr whatever they use to measure diesel.

I filled up today...70.00! Ugh...Most of the ones I have seen around our area is $4.25 or so. Not good!

Past few days it's been going up as much as 10, 15 cents/day. Regular is about $4.40 now - premium over $5 in some places.

The only good news is that cars is pretty much the only thing in my life where I've always been ahead of the curve. I got my first SUV several years before they became super popular. And I unloaded my last one in favor of a smaller high mileage car about 2 1/2 years ago. The gas prices still hurt, but not as much as they would have (my previous car got 17mpg!)

Evening all!

WOO! HOO! We are free and clear for the TOAL!
The parent meeting for dd's choir was tonight and they are not starting choir practice before school starts! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
I was sweating this out as the choir director is very strict about attendance. Now that dd is in the Ensemble she can only miss 2 practices in each semester. So I'm happy that that worked out, but choir messes up my 30 year Capitol Page Reunion in DC in Oct, because of a mandatory all day workshop on that Saturday! Oh well, can't win them all!

Yee haa!!!!

Sorry I didn't respond back. I had to leave to go to see a surgeon. I have to have my gall bladder out Monday!:scared1: I have been sick for a year and the last time I got sick I had to call an ambulance! I will be so glad to not feel bad anymore!:yay: This won't be as bad as my last Disney cruise which was two weeks after rotator cuff surgery!

Good luck!

Good luck on Monday - sending you prayers. Had mine out 10 years agao - like you I had not felt well for a long time and then they found the stones...I was up and around in no time. You're going to feel great for the cruise.

OMG im not on the Tequila :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

or the Rum :scared1: :scared1:

Someone doesnt like me :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

pirate:

YOU aren't on the rum tasting???!!!!

:listen: :listen: If you could all say a little prayer for my DD..... she has a little operation tomorrow! I will be babysitting my DGKIDS.

Goodness, Cheryl, you are having a hard time! I hope everything goes very smoothly with your daughter's operation today and that the DGs are good to you . . .

Oh my - all joking aside - your daughter is in my prayers!! No matter how old they are - they are still your kids!!

Of course the DGkids will behave - I'm sure you must have the "look" or the "tone of voice" - I'll tell you a funny story - I got a call from DGS -Matt's teacher - he was acting up but she didn't want to go to the official detention route - so she phones me and - he's telling the teacher "no - no - don't want to talk to Grandma" - I get on the phone to give him the "stern voice" and he's an angel the rest of the day. I said to DD - either that's good or I'm an ogre scaring the h*** out of my grandson!!! :rotfl2:

lots of

I could see not wanting the stern voice from you, Chris! You are no pushover (and that is wonderful!)!

Needless to say, gas has been over $5 here in Manhattan for a while . . . .luckily although I have a car I really only use it to go out of town and then always fill up before I head back to the city.

That is too funny! These are teh things memories are made of.

We ended up in scenic Freeport, Bahamas because a friend of ours had 'won' a trip there on a glorified ferry boat and a few nights at 'resort'. Our 'resort' was like a mid-level Holiday Inn. But hey, we were young and poor and living in Alaska, so anyplace warm was fine with us. They had a beach and a bar and we didn't need much else. We also spent a few days in Key West - in a mobile home park owned by the Navy, but at least we had a double bed!

Now that I think about it...DH only had a twin bed when I moved to Alaska. We spent the first year of our married life sleeping on a double bed mattress that I bought at a thrift shop for $10, on the floor! Small island in Alaska is not the best place to start out a life and furnish a house! We bought a new box spring, mattress (and a bed frame!) for our first anniversary.

Gosh, we've come a long way!

Sounds a lot like our humble beginning. I love to think about where we started and how far we've come. Makes us appreciate things so much more!

HEY the upside to that is Rob knew he wanted to marry you.....it took Joel 4 years to feel like "had to marry me" !:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
But....we have a good laugh about it now! :goodvibes

I'm sure there are days now that Rob wishes he could re-think his decision.

No, no, no....I'm joking. I'm always pleasant to be around. ;)

OK - this is totally off topic :offtopic: (well, as much as anything here is off-topic!) but I thought it was cool and it has a vaguely Disney theme (really vague!)

A friend of ours has an incredible old house (150 yrs which for this area is OLD) and each year allows the local Friends of the City Museum to hold a "lawn party" there. She has created a YouTube video "advertisement" for this year's event and I thought it was fun to watch - the vaguely Disney connection is the background music she chose to use (I don't think she has a clue there is a Disney connection, but it was the first thing DS9 and I noticed when we played it!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90sqC3JjcaA

Pamela

Pamela, are you all gonna go? It was fun to watch and I have to say I am so glad we don't have to we dress like that everyday--I can't imagine how hot ladies got.:)

So far, so good. I'm at an Acme SavOn right now, so it's not much different than I'm used to. The people there are really cool, so I'm having a good time, and i am actually learning some stuff.

I saw posts wishing you good luck. I'm thinking you are looking for a new job, based on those replies?:confused3 If so, good luck from us too!

It took a minute to figure out why you were at the Acme. It never occured to me that clinical wouldn't be in a hospital. Guess that's because they don't have x-ray at the Acme (thank god) :rotfl2:

I had applied for a job a few months ago. I have the interview coming up. :thumbsup2

Thanks, I really needed to know what that meant! I appreciate it!
