My boss of 19 years announced his retirement on Tuesday... effective June 30th. :sad1:

I'm in full on find a new job mode...
 
My sister was able to book my niece and her family (4) on the cruise today! They are a category 9 as of now. It is their first Disney cruise
Last week I was able to move one of our cabins closer to our other 3, so now all 4 are near the aft on deck 7!

Do you mind my asking....how did you move one of your staterooms?

We have been booked since day 1, and still do not have stateroom assignments. Did you just call DCL directly, or was your TA able to do it?

I'm still debating the FE. I have one, plan on bringing it, but I'm concerned about how much I'm bringing now. Both airlines we're using will now be charging for the second bag. I need to figure out what we're bringing and how much room we've got since we'll be gone three weeks.

Just do one or more laundry loads - then you'll have everything under control. OR - plan on shipping a box of stuff acquired enroute HOME from Orlando / port Canaveral. OR, simply pay the airline for that extra bag instead of shipping it. That should solve everything...

Also, double check that you don't have "flight status" with your airline. As those with a little flight status may have the baggage fees waived for them.
Most of the folks in our party have some kind of flight status with United - so our fees are waived on that segment. However, the folks from hawaii are coming out on COntinential - and they have NO flight status there - but then again, I don't know what Continentials' policy is on this? edited in... yeah, Continential charges $25 for the 2nd checked bag. However, no mention for the 3rd or 4th checked bags?

All I heard about was AA's and Uniteds' policies were to charge for 1st or 2nd bags, respectively.

If checked, these 5 pieces of luggage would cost you an additional $85 EACH way on American Airlines. Shoot! Round trip I only paid $180 for my flight with United - and on AA thier lugage policy would cost me an extra $170 since I DON'T have any preferential flight status with them! so, on 2nd thought it DOES add up if you're subject to luggage fees. Maybe it's best to plan on doing 4 or more loads of laundry while embarked?

There's the formal wear, snorkel gear, blender :), etc., etc. I checked yesterday and Frontier is charging $25 for a second bag (3rd and 4th are subject to regular over bag limits). It looks like EVERYONE is charging something now a days then. There's no getting around it then it seems. I guess I won't be packing my Jedi outfit or that sexy skin tight Padame costume for Alicia on this voyage then....

After speaking to DCL I did a little more research. DCL is using the Quay Cruise Agency to faciliate the delivery of packages to the Magic while on the west coast.

Quay will be handling the delivery of packages to either DCL cast members or directly to your stateroom.

Basically you ship the package to Quay and include the ship name, stateroom number, and sailing date.

If you have any questions you can call Quay directly.

The stores are now under Disney control. Wonder if they will go the route of city destination stores, as American girl, Apple and Nike have done?


They're CLOSING our local Disney Store! it's one of 3 or 4 in california scheduled for closure supposedly. The manager there told Alicia that since our mall is getting a $300,000,000 rennovation and expansion - they've raised the rent to the point where it costs SEVERAL TIMES the rate of another regional mall (Northridge) where they do twice the sales volume. Well, of COURSE the sales volume is gonna be higher since our mall has been under rennovation a year plus now. And taken as such - charging sseveral times the rate elsewhere whwe they do twice the sales - of course management might say "we're outta here!".

DRAT!

My DS has been sick with the flu for the second time in a month. Fever, chills, aches, etc. Now it has morphed into a severe case of bronchitis. We took him to the doctors yesterday & he is now on antibiotics & 2 inhalers. He missed 2 days last week during the all important state tests in school (MCAS) & this week was make-up so I got a "friendly" call from the school yesterday stating that if missed the make-ups, he was going to need a doctors note explaining why he couldn't take the tests. Not once did they ask how he was feeling! :mad: Wouldn't mind, but we are not parents that allow our children to miss school for the heck of it & he is never late so you'd think they'd realize that if his missing the tests, then he must be really sick! :confused: I did call them back after the doctors & I explained to the nurse how sick he was & she said, "Well maybe he could come in long enough to take his tests & then go home." :eek: I said as long as he's not gagging & chocking like he has been. So she said to "play it by ear". Anyway he was coughing a bit this morning, but it was a little better, so he did go in today long enough to do his make-up tests & then I got a call from the nurse to come pick him up because he's coughing a lot. Ya think? :faint:



The one at the Burlington Mall closed....again. We went to RFC a couple of weeks ago & it was gone. I checked the Disney Store website for locations & Burlington wasn't listed. :worried:

Yes, I was at RFC a few weeks ago too. I can't beleive they closed that one done. It was sorta a ritual for us to cisit that store after RFC ::yes::

I did karoke for the first time Friday Night. Perhaps had something to do with having my very first Scorpian Bowl :laughing:

I'm not on the FE committee, but I am working with M on the Navigator. I could probably do something like the one that was posted - deck plan with colored boxes around each room that is a DISer or on the FE list. I'm pretty good with editing graphics and this shouldn't be all that difficult. Of course, if someone else would like to tackle it, that is fine!

Ya know....as much as I think my kids would enjoy the Fish Extender thing, I think we will pass on it. One, I would be too stressed about getting "gifts for everyone else. I am worried thought that my kids would fight over who was gonna get to look and see what was in there or running down the hall to get to the door first :bitelip: (then waking up all our neighbors when the fighting began):headache:

I'm sure Al and Ash will be good about it. AND.... you dont HAVE to distribute stuff to everyone else. The first time I did this I didn't bring stuff for everyone. Maybe you could just tote along a small number of gizmos for a few other cabins - or maybe just do your deck... or simply bring nothing! Really it's OK.... and if anyone sez otherwise... tell them "I" said its' OK!

The only recommendation I would make is for the deck plan graphic be done at the very end -- once we have all the cabin numbers -- to reduce confusion. Disfreaks has also volunteered to help with this project. Perhaps we could have a few people who are willing to work on it, and then the end of July get it done after one last push to get all the cabin numbers in, and it can be on the pirate zone for downloading even if there is no room in the navigator.
