Did anyone see this? I was wondering how DCL was going to handle the 2nd bag charges. Guess they just won't take any 2nd bags.
The Resort Airline Check-in service offered at Disney resorts will now only accept one bag per passenger for check-in, due to the extra fees that most airlines now charge for a second bag. If you wish to have more than one checked bag per person, you will need to check-in at the airport.
http://allears.net/acc/mexpress.htm

So will they take 1 bag per person and you just check the extras yourself or does that mean you CANNOT use their checkin if you have more? What if we have 4 bags for 3 people - would they check in 2 of us with 1 bag each and the 3rd person would checkin at the airport with the other 2?

I know you probably have no idea, but maybe someone has already investigated this :thumbsup2

OK, I gottta go now but before I do so ...

An Open Apology...

I'm terribly sorry "XXX".

I am NOT the smartest swabbie. Your opinon must be shared by others ( that my posting of the Hillary NUTCRACKER was less then ideal )- and to all I must post an open apolagy. And I will now.

I meant no harm - as you must know. However, I also may have inadvertantly implied a single grating POV which was not really my intent. I was just looking for a nut cracker image - and this one popped up - and it struck me as unique - different - perhaps entertaining and approximately the right dimensions to fit the page. Something difficult to find sometimes. It did not cross my mind that it would be all that contentious.

Without mentioning you by name - I will post an open apology now.

I really gotta go now or risk disappointing the kids.

I would like to suggest I am still a somewhat INNOCENT SWABBIE in this matter....

Happy Bee-lated Birthday Christopher (KSDisneyDad)!!!

I can't believe I forgot it after confirming with you which day it was! I really was brain dead after the futile attempts at booking from midnight to 2:30 -- my apologies!

Thanks all!! This birthday was actually quite depressing and I normally don't take birthdays that hard. Although I'm trying to stay upbeat, I just have a hard time saying I'm 40.

Attention Pirates and Wenches!!

It's really not THAT big a deal, but I got your attention.

I'm not going to be around now for a while. Deadline is coming up for the wedding and all.....need to be finishing things up and getting ready to go. I'll only be back for a couple of days and then leave for the 6-8-08 Magic Mexican Riviera...whoo hooo...

Anyway.......still not sure if or how I will be able to post any kind of report. Maybe I will start a trip report on that Board.....anywho.....if anyone has any specific questions, my e-mail addy is in my profile.

Will pop in when I can......

CARRY ON.......

Enjoy the wedding!!!:dance3: :dance3: Enjoy your cruise.:yay: :yay:

The way I read it, you can check in as many bags as you have people. Any extra bags will need to be carried by you to the airport and checked in there. You can checked everyone in and get your boarding passes. You'd just have to take your extra bag to the counter (or maybe Skycap) and check it in.

Age is just a state of mind, if you act 12.....nevermind....:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :bday:

A bunch of us did get Palo Dinner on the 23rd and then brunch on the 24th.

We got dinner on the 17th and nothing else... If anyone wants to adopt a couple of stray Pirates for Brunch, we'd probably buy drinks... :thumbsup2

Did you ever have those days were everything goes RIGHT? Yesterday was one of those days for me...

We fired up the pool pump last weekend and was not working properly. Now, DH's only job with the pool is to get that pump going and I do the rest for the entire summer. To say we were having some heated discussions (he was being a typical guy - ya know, like a man asking for directions), about him refusing to call a professional to ask for opinions, is an understatement. Well, he finally asked and figured it out yesterday. Plenty of time for me to clean it up and heat it for the summer-like weather that is coming in this holiday weekend.

Had a teacher meeting - DD got a less than stellar progress report. They send these out in between the closing of the marks. Well, turned out to be no big deal. She had missed a couple of assignments from an absence and just being lazy. That, I can handle/fix. Then, more importantly (I know, priorities), I had not mentioned anything about the cruise yet. She will miss the first three days of school. She is in "Looping" and will have all the same teachers next year. Even though I know they are pretty cool teachers, I was still a little nervous about bringing it up. Well, NO PROBLEM. Her Social Studies teacher will give an assignment related to Panama Canal (which will be fun stuff - he gives weekend homework like hug a tree and stuff like that), and the report we are going to do over the summer and cruise on the PC will be perfect. She will present it to the class when she returns. Whew - one more thing out of the way for the cruise.

Then off to my first follow up with the Onc. Dr since treatments completed. I have been officially been declared.......CANCER FREE!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Got an appt for my 6 month follow up.

It has been quite a winter and I want to say Thank you :thanks: to all my DIS freinds who have offered up such wonderful support through postings, PM's, cards, a little surpise gifts. It is appreciated more than I can ever express :grouphug: :grouphug:

The "Neighborhood Ladies" are taking me out to a local pub Friday night to celebrate. Since I have a designated driver I think I may just have a drink...or two :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1:drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :faint:

Mary Ann I am so happy for you. :dance3: I unforunately do not get to see the success stories here at work.

Nope- that was me.
ohhhhhhh
:confused3

OK- Listen up folks- American airlines has decided as of June 15th to charge for the FIRST bag checked :scared1:
Does not say if they are grandfathering exisitng tickets yet. They better! :headache:
What the....
:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
we're booked with AA

Yeah!

Customers who purchase domestic economy class tickets on or after May 12, 2008 but before June 15, 2008 may check one bag for free and check a second bag for $25 each way. Customers who purchase domestic economy class tickets on or after June 15, 2008 will be charged $15 each way for the first checked bag and $25 each way for the second checked bag. Our carry-on policy of one personal item (such as a purse or laptop bag) plus one bag remains in place.

Is it me or should that not say on or BEFORE May 12th? What about the people who bought tickets 3 months ago?
I was gonna ask the same thing! That doesn't make sense! Only the people who booked from May 12 to June 15 get grandfathered in? what about those that booked before! We booked like 2wks before May 12th.
sigh
Where's this may 12th coming from? Just some made up date they came up with for no apparent reason? ugh ugh ugh
I'm so scared now... i wasn't scared at first thinking AA would be one of the last airlines to bite the dust (stop flying planes/filing bankruptcy/etc.) but now I'm worried.....

I have not had a good stretch of work here this week. We are in the midst of remodeling our pharmacy department and we have now been moved into an area that would resembles a goldfish in a dixie cup. Even worse yesterday a group of 6 people show up to do physical inventory. :scared1: Today the State Board of Pharmacy shows up and I think they are a couple of drug reps and give them the brush off. :scared1: :scared1: Yesterday the IT department was crawling all over our department and interfering with my DISing :rotfl2: . Seems like every time I logged into the DIS they would remotely access my computer. :sad2:

Anyway, I have seen some posting about baggage and wondering if anyone else has figured out the AA policy yet. The first announcement that I read had the May deadline but I thought we were grandfathered in since I bought them back in Oct or Nov. But now looking at their policy on line it does not look that way. Anyone else have the answer. I did print my passenger contract prior to the change.

M congrats on your genetically altered son. :woohoo:

Simple AA (as I read it)

The following customers will not be charged a service fee to check a bag provided the bag is within the weight allowance:

  • For the first checked bag, customers who buy a ticket before June 15, 2008, or who fly before June 15, 2008
  • For the second checked bag, customers who purchased a ticket before May 12, 2008

So pre May 12 purchase, 2 bags
May 12 to June 15 purchase, one free bag
Post June 15 purchase, no free bag and other fees (not specified in release).

So if you hold tix, you should be good for 1 per person or maybe 2

Fees are $15 for first (post June 15), $25 for second, $100 for 3, 4, 5

You aren't the family I was talking about! LOL! They live in Ft Worth!

I'm in SE Mansfield...... before we moved a few months ago we were near Lake Arlington (I-20/287/820).
Now we are near 360/287.

BIP if you're near Hillsboro I'm up for a shopping trip! :rotfl: :rotfl: And my favorite BBQ place is in Grandview (we have been known to go there after church on Sundays....).

After school is out for y'all PM me we are alot more flexible this summer then last summer!
Oh mansfield ain't that far! In fact mansfield is pretty darn close to the fabulous place that our dog Tramp will be "living" for a couple weeks during our cruise. LOL
Hey, I'm up for a shopping trip in Hillsboro!
and maybe if'n you want you can come over to the house and swim with us this summer. :)

Wow Laura had another very exhausting excursion again.:headache: :headache: Go read her blog!!:thumbsup2
gonna ask for a link but...
there's the link- thanks!

I don't think I booked anything for myself that would involve actually walking... I hate to sweat so, if I can avoid it, I do! LOL!

I saw on the planning boards that alot of you booked the walking tour in Columbia....... You know it's hot, right? ;)
OH we know! That's why I refused to book anything that said walking tour or in the description said "wander here, wander there". I know what wander means- it means walking! We took the tour in Costa Maya- and we know now that walking tours in that kind of heat and humidity is NOT our cup of tea! We loved the 2nd part of that excursion (at the family's house for outside lunch, kids learned how to make tortillas, etc.) but the 2hr walking tour before it at the ruins.... NO THANKS to anything like that again! no no no .
we thought we could handle the heat- we're from Texas after all- but that's a whole diffferent kind of heat than we're used to and besides, even here we don't go walking around outside for hours in the hottest weather! We compensate with a/c in house, vehicles, and tend to spend our summers in water as much as possible (pool, waterparks, lakes, etc.) :rotfl:

LOL
It just needs to say "my name isn't bip" in smaller lettering under my name. hehe

I almost listed her as BIP on the Who's Doing What list.
LOL!

oohh that sounds good. So we can even take a 2nd bag if we wanted? That's awesome. Since our trip to Ca is me and 3 kids alone (Jeff coming later in the week) I really didn't want to have to buff up the kids (even the barely 8yr old wee one we have) muscles to help carry their own luggage/carry ons. LOL

Paula- The store looks very nice. Just to show how much I know, I thought the 1st pictures were after and I was thinking "That looks nice". :lmao:
The after pictures look very nice. :thumbsup2

LOL, I thought that, too! Paula, your store will end up looking even BETTER than it already did, and that is saying a lot!!!!

Wow.... looks great!!:yay: :yay: So do those old gas prices. Our gas is the highest in the country again!!:sad2: It is $4.29 and that is not in the city!!

Thanks, I will be so glad when it is finished. :cool1: Cheryl I went to 4.099 today, really needed to go to 4.159. My cost today is $3.9100. :sad1:

I just plain don't like shopping! I really hate swimsuit shopping (thankfully, I don't need to do that this year - I have enough to get me through) and fancy dress shopping isn't much fun either. I did bite the bullet yesterday and went out looking at dressy stuff. I found a dress for the Grown-up Princess night - very "princessy" - but I feel very odd in it (its much softer and feminine than I usually wear and much lower cut than I usually wear) My mom talked me into buying it and DH seemed to think it looked OK when I tried it on last night. Cheryl would be proud of me - it's original price was $202 and I bought it for $50!

Sounds like a great deal! I can totally relate to the not liking shopping. I can't tell you when the last time I was at the mall.

Hi, Paula!
Yes, Peter has definitely deserves an award for costuming.pirate:

That is an understatement!
So Johnna, are you having as much fun posting as you did reading? I am so glad you joined this crazy thread:goodvibes

 :scared1:  Now that is just ridiculous. I would much rather see them increase the darn fares instead of charging extra for everything.

Monica...

And if I may say so - there's no harm in being the eternal optimist. I've always embraced an adage I found very true to me....

... it's never as good as you hope - nor as bad as you fear. So calm down and just try to enjoy your day no matter what.

That is what I decided a few years ago! Getting upset about something has NEVER changed the outcome for the good (it puts everyone in a foul mood -- even the children) BUT, staying in a good mood has. ;)

I am trying really hard to teach my children to always look for the good and to never dwell on the negative! :)

Dress shopping, ugh, never pleasant. Knowing me, I'll probably wait to the last minute and whine that I can't find anything.
At least I have a pirate night outfit courtesy of my husband(Peter/darthrugby)

I've been looking around. I'd much rather get separates than a dress. I'm much more comfortable wearing informal
