Hi everyone, I'm back from the AIDS walk, which was a lot of fun and somewhat tiring, which is appropriate. It started drizzling as we came back into the park (after walking all the way north through the park, across on 110th to Riverside, and then down Riverside to 74th to turn back into the park -- 10K, so they say) so the big party at the end sort of fizzled out. I'll have to check the website later to find out how much money was raised, but there were a LOT of people walking, so it must have been a large amount.

For all the Wench's signed up for the private diining room Brunch - perhaps we should all book brunch on the 23rd - then if our request is denied - we would still all be brunching together????????????
Just a thought - I had no problems for the Aug. Med Repo but I understand that the room has been requested for all sea days.

Agree - this is also why I asked everyone not yet paid in full if I could process their payments on Friday. I didn't want to have any glitches trying to get payments through today

Just as well, it locked me out at the end...there was a message that said the site would be down for 24 hours for repairs.

Ok...I am still a little scared but DCL was able to change my tea ressies to the 21st (which is how I found out I was locked out!)

They managed to get my reservation to come back up but I have no idea how..they didn't know exactly what "the back office" did but it worked..I asked if they would be around if everything went kaboom..and no..they leave at 8pm EST...so I am currently up but I won't be home until about 8pm PST so I am going to hope it stays..I logged out (although that scared me to do but I have a feeling I would need to relog in tonight at 9:00 PST anyways as I did at the 105 day mark.

I asked if they were having problems today and they said not really..so here's hoping!

Totally off topic (IF there is a "topic" here )

Here are some photos from our Plant Sale. This has totally eaten my life for the last week. About 3/4 of all the plants are staged at my house before the sale. We had a "pre-sale" for the club members on Thursday night and moved ALL the plants on Friday night to the sale tent and then spent ALL day Saturday at the sale. DH & I (with some help from my parents and a coupel other club members) sort/organize/label/price all the plants. We put up a couple pop-up greenhouses in our backyard which have had small plants for the last month or so. The bigger stuff starts coming about 2 weeks before and we SAY it all has to be here 1 week before the sale (but people still drop off some mid-week!)

The first 3 photos are from around my yard - I really mean it when I say "we are drowning in plants"!

The next photo is the tent where we hold the sale. This was around 8AM as we finished setting up. You can see the "spill over" plants that don't fit in the main tent.

This one is inside the tent around the same time. Some of the people are club members helping to arrange stuff - the rest are shoppers who seem to arrive earlier every year! Technically, the sale doesn't start until 9AM - but we don't want to deal with trying to keep people out and the stampede that would happen so we let them shop whenever, but the checkout doesn't open until 8:45 or so (they just have to wait!)

The last two photos were taken around 9am - they give you an idea of how big the crowd is. Our sale has gained a reputation over the last 10 years and people are coming from quite a ways away.

Thanks so much for your support of my walk today, Laurie! It was a wonderful event and you were certainly there in spirit. I wasn't that excited about the bands they were going to have play at the after-party, so I was just as happy to go home at that point. At the beginning there were lots of celebrities speaking and performing, which was fun. I noticed they didn't walk the 10K, though!

Something that one of the guys in our group made up with his buddies. Just like grocery shopping, but with a disco flair to it. Was quiet hilarious and ended up being a conga line of shopping carts.

Unfortunately no. The last we've been told by DCL is they are waiting for the completion of the EB before they finalize our plans.

I'm sure you meant to say we would know the theme nights after the WB, but at this point, I'm hoping they know them by the EB!

The PV Signature Swim times are 11:00 to 2:00 and 12:00 to 3:00....the system won't let me look at the Kids' time because we don't have any kids in our group, sorry.

We were out of town today, just playing ketchup. I don't know if anybody else answered this or if you'll see it, but the Dolphins Kids in Cabo is at 9:45, 12:30, and 1:30 (The 8:45 excursion is no longer available) and it lasts for 2 hours. The Dolphins Kids in Puerto Vallarta only has one excursion, 12:00-2:30.

What?, I like a little waiter with my dinner. Sometimes the wine just isn't enough. Although I liked it better when they just gave you waiter with the meal. Now you have to ask for it.

It sure is! And I didn't grow a single one of them DH is the actual gardener in our family - I just point and say, "that would look good over there"! What is sort of funny is that I do all the signage for the sale and print up all the labels - so I know a LOT about the various plants just from doing that. People ask me all sorts of questions at the sale and I sound like I know what I'm doing I haven't planted anything in years and only weed if DH really, really needs the help - I hate the feel of dirt on my skin. I'm not sure what I am doing on the Garden Club board ... somehow I ended up in charge of publicity...

On a related note, I don't have to be PTO co-President next year!!!! I'm sure I'll still be very involved, but we found someone else to take the title - I am totally thrilled!

Sunday night is so 5 minutes ago, Monday night is the new Hassle Free Night.

A giant storm just rolled into the burbs. Wonder how long before we lose power?
