Monica - you might have something there - I know I'm in the minority about thinking cooking is fun!!! I was asked once if I'd consider being a personal chef for some folks - it was just after I gave up my catering business.

Hey, I didn't expect such a quick response.

These are more assembly line than actual cooking. At least in the way they've been described to me. Maybe we could go scope one out together some time in June?

I'm listening to the Giants vs Pirates game on the computer. But, I've got to have Matt do his homework & then get dinner. I kinds pop in and out.

Happy Tuesday to you too! It's a beautiful day today in North NJ. At least looking out the windows it seems beautiful ;)

Mother's Day is going to be unique this year.... my parents recently told me their putting the house on the market and moving to AZ.(hopefully the house won't sell right away) My 90 year old grandmother (maternal) has expressed in the past that they can't move till she's dead...(she can be overly dramatic at times)
So my parents are breaking the news to her on Sunday... this ought to be fun!:scared1:
Of course my grandmother can go with them or stay in NJ. Hmmm... I'm the only one left in NJ after they leave...

I think lots of wine will be served my way Sunday..... Happy Mother's Day a little early to all the Mom's out there....

ooooh good luck with that Bets! Just keep sipping that wine! ;)

Diane

Thanks for that info & research. We are definitely still up for it especially as it will still give us Saturday afternoon to chill. I've made a note in my planning thing!

Celestine

You are so welcome! I'll keep you updated! :thumbsup2

Sunday is our daughter Jordan's 18th birthday.....she has forbidden any talk of Mother's Day for the entire day. I guess it doesn't matter to her that I had just a little to do with her being here in the first place. :sad1:

Anyway.....dinner reservations and a party after. I'll just pretend it's all for me. ;)

Hmmmmm I would demand at least the first half of the day being dedicated to Mom! The most important person in the world!!! At least I try to convince my little offspring of that fact!

Good Morning Everyone!:surfweb:
I haven't been on for awhile so I am trying to catch up on all info about our TOAL!

Are any fellow disers staying at the HOJO across from DL?
How are you getting fro the hotel to the port on Sunday.

Are there going to be any meets before we set sail? Sorry if I am asking any questions that may have been answered but I haven't been on the boards since October(
life got in the way).

Lookin forward to some responses!

Karen

There are lots of us at Hojos.I know lots of planning to do the park.

You know I never thought about diabetes being affected by time change but I guess any time sensitive medicine taking would be.

It has to do with the times she is eating. Most diabetics are supposedto eat early. I can't do early dinner .Remember it will be throwing most of us off 3 hrs .

I've found my primary care physician is never available at those inconvenient times when I get sick (always weekends it seems). However, the local "Doc in the Box" (aka, urgent care clinic) works pretty well in those cases, and costs less than a hospital emergency room.

That's one thing that impresses me about Orlando - walk-in clinics are all over the place.

They now have them in CVS and Publix just opened the minute clinic (I think that is the name)

Hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday!

So...just to start a topic of conversation...what are everyone's plans for Mother's Day this weekend?

Working. I used up all my seniority with the TOAL so was on the bottom of the list for Mothers Day. We are visiting with my Mom on Friday tho.

Just because we seem to have an expert and a been there done that for everything...I have a Disney Visa question...

How does transfering the balance from Disney Visa to another card effect the 0% interest on the cruise balance?

For instance and for the sake of round numbers -

I have $5,000 in a 0% interest pocket until Sept. (cruise PIF)
I'm about to Visa roughly $100,000 for summer day care (OK not really, but it seems like it!)

Since Disney is my highest interest card, I want to transfer the day care balance to another card while I wait for my Dep Savings Account reimbursement checks to roll in. {Side note: sucks I have to pay for summer camp all at once in May, but can only get my money back that I put into the stupid account one month at a time}

So if I transfer the $100K :) interest-bearing balance to another card, does my $5K 0% still stay there?

I know this is how it works if you make a regular payment - just not sure about balance transfer.

Arlene? Anyone else?

See response below

I don't know. You could call and ask. Then call and ask again to confirm....

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: How true. Just ask Cheryl.

I would be really, really careful with this... I find that anything except payments goes against the cruise balance. E.g., but 2 of something at Home Depot or Lowes, then return one a day laters, the full charge is on current charges for month but the return goes against cruise balance.....

Yes .the credits still get applied to the 0%.They haven't fixed it yet and really don't think they ever will. M just take the statement balance and deduct the remaining qualifying balance and you will be fine.

MaryAnn. I read that report about the scooter on Cruisecritic. Thanks.

Gosh - I rarely eat out - when I do its so I can check out the lastest culinary innovations - so I can attempt to replicate them at home.
Well - my Dad was a chef and after he retired he'd come over and we'd cook together - I still love to cook!!! I only indulge my "creative" menus on weekends or special occasions!!

We have about 5 diferent versions of that here in Orlando. They seem to be doing pretty good and the Orlando Sentinel did an article and it was a pretty good report!

Chris can I hire you? DH had forgotten he knew how to cook as well.:thumbsup2 At least that is what he says just to get out of it.

What you do..atleast with Dream Dinners by me..you "order" your meals that you wish to assemble in advance. Then you go on your assigned time and date and everything is there for you with directions on how to assemble the marinade etc. Everything gets placed in a zip lock bag. You freeze each individual dinner when you get home. You defrost, cook and serve. Most of them are just the main dish..a few come with rice. Basically..you cook a veggie or rice with them and the main dish and you have a dinner!

They seem kind of expensive but not if you review your costs over the long run vs. eating out. Also.. a lot of the marinades or sauce require spices that you would have to buy a whole bottle for and you only need a teaspoon..etc

If any of this makes sense...

DS7 just got the call - he also made his travel hockey team.
Good golly what did we get ourselves into???

Oh, I love to cook. That's part of why I have so much fun with the meal assembly. It's just a matter of time - I don't get home until almost 7. DH gets home first and has to start dinner. The neatly labeled frozen packets are great for that.

I'm a big foodie. When we eat out, DH usually challenges me to 'crack' the recipe if it is something we really like. I play at home and usually make a reasonable facsimile by the 2nd attempt.

OK Arlene - talk to me like I'm 2. If I did a balance transfer for the amount of $ I'm paying interest on, where would the $ be deducted? The 0% pile or the regular interest pile?

Oy, maybe I should just PIF-PIF (pay-in-full the paid-in-full cruise 0% balance) before I pay for summer camp. I was hoping to hang onto my my money for a few more months, just in case but I really want those 40 stinkin' Disney bucks for camp. :)

Once upon a time (as in a long time ago) a friend asked me what I did as a single working mom - so I gave her my weekly menu along w/grocery shopping list. ( I used to cook on the weekend for the followng week) - so then I shared how I cooked ahead and the instructions I left for my kids so that we could eat together when I got home from work and still had time in the evening.

Disney Princess Half Marathon

March 6-8, 2009

Yeah, I saw that. I have no interest in running farther than a 5K. I really only run when I'm 2/3 of the way through a triathlon and it's too late to turn back. ;)

BTW
Mulan would totaly kick all the other Princess's adds.
Followed closely by Pocahontas.
Cinderella is going to need some serious gel inserts for those shoes.
Snow White would never make it to the starting line - she'd be supervising all the woodland creatures cleaning the latrines.
And Ariel seems like much more of a tri gal.

I know you love to cook - a ways back we all posted some of the meals we were preparaing and yours were YUMMY!!!!!

Thanks Chris. I wish I had more time to cook. I consider it a hobby.

:

..i have a buddy..who just return from iraq. the nurses...took their
pictures..and made..an outstanding...video..that is very reflective of
our troops and their american spirit. { it is very heavy..on feelings..well
ya know..how nurses are? }..* ya kno ?..you "see"..these baby-faces,
lil girls..but underneath..they are tough..as nails! ( it sure brought back
desert storm).

...there are no words..i can say..that express my gratitude..to our
country's finest..and dedicated men & women. the "norm"..think
lil' of themselves...to go way beyond..any duty that is thrushed upon
them..to protect..all of us. GOd bless..there would be no freedom
without..this living & breathing spirit.

I couldn't agree with you more

What was really sad was that it was DCL's first time ever in that port...so there were bands, school kids, dancers, tons of dignitaries and all kinds of people at the pier just to see the "Mickey Ship"......and they get an eyeful of some family's unders. :sad2: :sad2:

:scared1:

Good morning, all . . . I'm looking forward to chaperoning my youngest daughter's class trip to Connecticut today . . . it's science related and involves being on a boat, but beyond that really don't know much either than it is from 7:15-5:30 so I will be on later tonight . . .:goodvibes

Hope you had fun today.

Hi Erin,

How did you contact them? I did a reservation form online directly on their website. Still no response...:(

Poohmom, it took a long time for me to hear back from them. I ended up sending them an email explaining that my last name starts with an "I". A lot of people mis-spell it because they think the "I" is a "J". I also copied the email to my work account & told them to reply to both. It turned out that they have trouble with Comcast accounts (my home account). I heard back from them the next day at work. They had been trying to email me at home. Good Luck.

Good Morning Everyone!:surfweb:
I haven't been on for awhile so I am trying to catch up on all info about our TOAL!

My sister is Reenieny who is also traveling with me along with her DH Marty and DS Daniel.

We paid off the trip two weeks ago anf I was hoping that we would get a room assignment once we paid. No such luck!

We're at HoJos !!

nice

M..... No really. As long as the 0% promo is on the card and you charge additional purchases ( summercamp) , the 0% will stay intact. Just a word of caution. The purchase must show on a statement to transfer it off. If it is not showing on the statement the 0% will get the transfered balance instead.

Hope this clears it up for you.

Chris, we were thinking of doing the prepared meals. You'll have to share some of your recipes:goodvibes

:cool1: I bought the Canon XSi today :cool1:

I have been looking for a DSLR and almost bought it Sunday night at Best Buy - could have rcvd double points - but I could not commit. This morning I got an email from Best Buy and I got 12% off. Usually these coupons do not apply to DSLRs ....

Now to learn how to use it.......
