Can someone explain what goes on in the Oceaneers Quest? Megan will be 12 and will be in that area. Is it like a normal kids club w/ full time activities?
I did not take the girls on the qualifying cruise. We have cruised on RCCL before, it is like that?
Is everyone upset just because they thought their kids were going to the Stack and now they are going to the Quest?

We have not done a Disney Cruise since they put in the Quest so I am not sure. I understand that normally it is not full time activities like the Lab but that it may change for the upcoming cruises. My DD11 is bummed because she thought she was going to be able to go into the Lab too which she loves. We should probably know more once the WB goes.

We all do not know at this time, Ocean Quest is a trial for the repo and Mexican cruises and is a new age group, before the stack, My DD who is 12 will be in it as well, best to look for reports from the cruises from may 10th.

We don't know what will be going on in Ocean Quest. Before it was an area on the Magic that housed the ship simulator.

Actually I'm upset because I though my 11 y/o was going to the lab now it looks as if he will be excluded from there? If that is going to be the case, I sure hope they are planning on offering a lot of activities in Quest to keep them entertained. Before it was more or less a place for them to go & use the ship simulator and there was a movie maker "thing", but no organized activities.

As for the Stack...I guess my 14 y/o DD will be allowed in, but I'm not so sure I'm thrilled with that. She's tiny & still very much a little girl in many ways. I'm just hoping they offer "age appropriate" activities for them also & that she clicks with someone or I'll own her for the rest of the cruise! Not that I don't love being with her, but I want some adult time. ;)

Ocean Quest has a virtual ship's bridge/docking type game. I think that they also have some other activities, like a little stop-motion camera, that would appeal to the slightly older kids. We're hoping that they have Nintendo Wii there too.

I asked on Andrew's Panama Planning thread to see if the WB repo'ers can bring back and post the kids' navigators too. I'm sure that when any of us find the Navigators posted somewhere, either adults or kids, we'll post a link here so everyone can find it.

I think the biggest problem is that there are 13 YO's who have been looking forward to going to the Stack for a while now. It's probably not going to be pretty when their parents tell them that they can't go to the Stack.

Yes very good points, My DD was hoping to be in the stack for 2009, if they keep this she will not, Ocean Quest wasnt that big, but it was made out of an old conference center so might have a little more to it than I have seen, it does back on to staterooms 2071 2571 so cant be too big and is enclosed, no light, it was full of the Simulator last time I was in it, that took a lot of space up.

I personally think its a verystrange move back, the could try something else to use, or lave it as it is.

We're worried about 15 days with a lack of organized activities. I'll be watching for the kids' Navigators from the WB repo to see what they are offerring. Oldest DS will have just turned 11 less than two weeks before the TOAL. If it really stinks, I'll see if he can step back with his brother in the 8-10 Oceaneer's Lab group. I'm sure the boys would like that, but I'd rather see DS11 stay with the 11-13 YO's

I was one of those parents who dreaded telling 13 year old DD that she wasnt going to the stack - I broke the news to her last night and surprisingly she was OK with it. Could it be that she realized that she is lucky to be going on her 8th DCL cruise when all her friends are in school and it doesnt matter where she hangs out - probably not but who cares - as long as I dont have to deal with an attitude its all good.

She has our 8/15/09 Tortola Cruise to look forward to when she will be 14 and can then go into the Stack.

FYI - anyone interested in a Cat 8, keep an eye on the DCL website, there should be one popping up soon.

I've just sent a note to my TA to cancel my parent's cabin.

I know some of you were reading that with dread thinking I'm canceling mine.

Nope.

I haven't made any job decisions yet. But I did decide that I'm going ahead with TOAL. It may not make financial sense, but I'm too emotionally invested in this cruise to miss out on it. I figure if I find a job within my current company, then it would make no difference. It would be as if nothing ever happend with my job. If I do end up getting laid off, I'll have my severance and can collect unemployment until I find another job.

The only reason I would cancel now is if something came up with DS. I'm off to search for trip insurance in case this does happen.

Monica ...

... it's GROOVY that you'll be staying with the crew. We all understand how times like this are annoyingly turbulent - so we appreciate your continuing is a challenging decision. Of course, you'll squeeze into a superior position with your next job - so it will all work out... eh? As such - we're very happy to have ya staying on with us! Now lets' return the conversation to the usual banter...

I'm just afraid if they don't have some computer games including wii, I'll be spending a fortune for him to hang out at the arcade! :scared:

They will be with Stephen there then! I have a Dads bonus for them -good on the flight over get a ARCADE CARD! Who much depends on how good on the flight. With so many sea days it will be expensive.

Unfortunately, my DD11 will be closer to 12 then 10 when we cruise. She is really upset with missing out on the Lab. I think she viewed the Quest as a place to visit. I am hoping that they will allow them back in the Lab or have a lot of planned activities for them. Although I would rather she be with her peers..most importantly..I would rather she have a great time. I am looking forward to the navigators from the WB. Also, I am a parent who still likes to have a choice in signing her out - I understand that at the Quest they are on their own and she knows that she needs to stay put until we come for her but it was still piece of mind knowing that we had a say so for a little longer.

It will all work out..it has to..it's Disney!:wizard:

I had the same dread last night when I told DD13 that it did not look like she was going to the Stack. Much to my surprise she was elated that she was going to Quest. I think that we have a bunch (big numbers) of 11-13 yo just in our group, so I am sure that they would have taken that into account on making this decision.

Just trying to gauge how many people are actually really interested in doing this one night ... For those that are new or those who havent seen this talked about , there is a interactive script that goes along with Pirate of the Caribbean " Curse of the Black Pearl " Its very similar to Rocky Horror Picture Show , it's very fun to do and I am sure we would all have a great time doing this while they played it on the Dumbo Tron or (Ariel View ) to others ...lol I am trying to get a hold of Rachel the CD now to see if we could set a night , but this may one of those things that we may not know the night till we are on the ship. I am pretty sure they will have no problem showing the movie for us

...So What say you ?

If you are planning to do this , please go here and print the script for yourself and loved ones and pack it with you when you head to CA for our TOAL ...
