Hi all,

We visited MK last night for our first look at the new Starlight parade and I must say I was pleasantly surprised 👍👍, after seeing the youtube videos we wre pretty underwhelmed but seeing it in person it is so much more vibrant and larger than life! The music was pretty good too when heard in person, the obvoius issues are the large gaps with dancers who are doing their best with bad costume decisions but the biggest issue we had was that Whimsy the train’s face was not working for both shows!! Why is is nothing new seems to work at Disney (and Universal for that matter) for longer than a couple of months without breakdowns and other maintenance issues!

Well that’s sad. If it’s like other effects that have broken the last 10 years, it probably won’t ever work again.

Hi all,

, the obvoius issues are the large gaps with dancers who are doing their best with bad costume decisions
I agree, I love the new parade. But don’t dare call them dancers! 😂 In my comments, right after the parade was released and seeing it for ourselves, I got chastised for saying they were dancers. They are called walkers dang it!! Weird. Didn’t know I was out of date on my parade terminology 🫩

Saw the parade for the first time a couple nights ago. Idk what to call those poor CMs. But without great glittering costumes they just don’t add much. And it isn’t like the CMs didn’t try, they certainly appeared to put Disney Parade Level Enthusaism into it. The parade could use them- but they needed to triple the costume budget and make each group pop because (shocking as this revelation will be) it’s a parade in the DARK!

I don't know for sure, but as a member of the performing union (Actors' Equity Association), my guess is they have to call them walkers because DANCERS at Disney are under the union contract. I don't believe AEA covers any of the parade performers. But now, I really want to know so I'm going to contact my friend who is a leader in parades and see what the reasoning is.

We watch a lot of the live streamers and have seen his face off more than once before, even as early as the first week the parade was running. It will come back and seems to be a random glitch that they obviously still have not solved. Gepetto and Pinnocchio going dark the whole parade was another one that happened from time to time but I haven't noticed that one lately.

That's rough about Whimsy. Hopefully they'll have things working more consistently as they gain more experience running the parade. We're pretty excited to see it for the first time in December.

That makes some sense. My first reaction about them was that it really surprised me, because most all the performers I've seen and/or heard at Disney are so very talented.

When did anyone get the idea that new means no problems. I work for a municipal bus company for many years and if we were to have a bus break down it was usually its first week of operations. They are called by the slang term "bugs". New things, especially with technology sometimes need some time to be worked out.

I believe so many here are overly critical and love to criticize. I found the parade well done, beautiful and fun.
The parade was better than expected seeing it in person but it was missing the magic that Spectromagic and the ELP had, the floats a very good but it needs smaller filler floats to bridge the gaps and the CM’s need brighter costumes! I just think that when we’ve not had a nightime parade for years we all expected someting a bit more spectacular than Starlight!

Thats true but I think that an issue with these new rides/animatronics is that they break down after a month then never get fixed (or at least need to wait months until a resolution is sorted!) the dracula animatronic and the Pirahna plant at Epic Universe have both been down for a while now, not just a week or 2 👍 (and dont get me started on the Turbo blasters on ROTR…its been years since they worked, I think they are the new Yeti 😀)

I saw the Starlight parade live in July. I think the ground performers are supposed to be "invisible" so we can focus on the stuff waving above their heads. Putting brightly lit costumes on these performers would mess up the dream-like effect.

Am I the only one who couldn’t see some of the characters on the float? My cousin, who isn’t as Disney-nits as I am would ask who some of the characters were and for the life of me, I could t see who she was pointing out!
I did really like the music and the designs of the floats and thought the length of the parade was fine. But the floats, like others comments, are huge!!!

The problem is the ‘stuff’ waving above their heads is really dimly lit as well!! 😀

Seems like so many other things in life currently suspension of disbelief is now officially dead. Imagination no longer needed or even attempted. Sometimes we have to make the magic ourselves.

The parade is named Starlight so it's supposed to be ethereal, subdued, and relaxing. It should feel like listening to a story before going to bed. If anyone expects a loud-bright-dance-till-you-drop parade, they will be very disappointed.

When we saw it in July, so many of the "walkers" were having trouble with the lights on their tall sticks (what else can we call them?) so that they were trying to reach in their costumes to work on the connections while they were also dancing and walking. They tried their best to give us a good show!

This is only my opinion after watching the parade at various distances. I don't think this parade is designed to be viewed up close. What we saw at a certain distance were float after float gliding among moving lights (held up by the ground performers). Combining with the effects of the lights on the trees and the laser beams, the entire parade appeared as though it was floating among the stars.
