Just got confirmation from my TA

I can't find anything that isn't either:

1. I'm 16 and going to prom (ridiculous on a 35 year old)
B. I'm 87 and Grandma of the bride (also ridiculous on a 35 year old)

I have a little black dress for semi-formal and my princess night dress that I love - I've had both for several years. I was hoping to find a new dress for the other formal night.

I had a very sad day yesterday. I cleaned out my closet, switched to summer stuff, etc. So I tried everything on. I've lost a bit of weight since last year, so it was nice to fit into most of my clothes, but oh so sad. I love sundresses and I have many. I lean towards classic styles, so I have a lot of my clothes for years. Why so sad? I have about 4 sundresses that I love but I decided to get rid of. They are about mid-thigh length, and well, I'm firmly planted in my mid 30's. The dresses fit, it just looks like I'm trying too hard. :guilty: Getting old sucks.

Personally, I'm sure you have the legs to pull it off....but I have to say that I'm glad you have the good taste and sense to not try.
You're still young....but I hate seeing women in their 40's and up wearing short skirts and low cut tops....ewwww. And up here, we see a LOT of that. Money doesn't buy your age back.:sad2:

Man I post a squirrel picture and I am accused of fluffing, oh Mr. 8pirate: s.

Good thing I wasn't in on da' last pirate sprint. If I were there, not only would I too have been accused (mistakenly) of fluffing but my fragile INNOCENCE would have been tested and threatened again.

Seriously Roger, I think you most certainly were NOT fluffing.... especially compared to MY posting rate.

< wink >

In the midst of all the fluff that Roger was posting trying to get another pirate:, question was raised if we wanted to pick a day and everyone try for Palo brunch that day when we are booking on the 19th, that way we would have a bunch of pirate:s together for the same brunch (affectionately called a "couples brunch" although this should by no means be viewed as a disinvitation to the solo cruisers).

There is a planning board thread here to discuss, complete with a poll for which day would be best.

Thank you for the link..I could not find the poll last night.

M,

I say who cares what other people might think of what you're wearing? I say if wearing something makes you feel good - and feel happy - then go ahead and just wear it! Of course, these very thoughts are what get me into tons of hot water with my dear spouse. IE, I've been known to do gardening and painting in dress clothes as opposed to mostly worn out old clothes. Aas a result - my spouse often quips that after 20+ years it's now conclusive that I'm not trainable after all! :confused3

I've been finding the same thing - UGLY and way too much black! I already have a black dress - I am trying to find something colorful and fun and maybe even a little "princessy" for the cruise. Of course, it doesn't help that I am only 5'3" and a little overwieght, so many of the dresses designed for tall, thin people look REALLY bad on me.... Also at 43 years old, I don't really feel comfortable in strapless anymore - just looks too young and accents my slightly drooping upper arms!

Pamela

I agree! Both of my formals are black, black, black..I was looking online last night because I was something new and bright (not neon..but colorful)..unfortunately, being overweight..I am also not comfortable with the halter or strapless styles ..oh well..we shall see..I am going shopping in June to see what I can find. My motto for myself is to remember...just because they make it in my size doesn't mean I should be wearing it. :rotfl2:

Sorry, I have squirrels in my attic (have fun with that), so maybe it was a reaction... no, just enjoy giving you a hard time. Plus there were a few requests for the link...

Yup. Strep.
One more day home to let the meds kick in. I drug him to work with me. He's fine, just contagious.

Good to hear he's feeling okay.....so then, put him to work!

Remind me when it's just us girls to tell you about driving to the seamstress in a strapless bra.........that's when I decided that I was NOT wearing one. No way.

With all the cooking talk, and a mention of this place by Rachel Ray, I decided to look it up. Anyone ever hear of Young Chefs Academy? http://www.youngchefsacademy.com/pages/home.html

It's a cooking school for kids 3-18. There is not one near me otherwise I'd love to sign up DS.

And with my current job situation, I'm considering all possiblities. I never thought I wanted to own my own business, but the dinner assembly places discussed yesterday, and now this, I'm thinking I might want to investigate opening a franchise. Probably just pipe dreams though. As a single parent I really need something more stable.

DS7 just got the call - he also made his travel hockey team.
Good golly what did we get ourselves into???

:)

CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH BOYS!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

I don't think you want to know exactly what you have gotten yourself into. But, it will be worth it for the experiences your boys will receive. Just treat the away trips as family trips. We have seen many cities now with Lisa's Gymnastics (some more interesting than others :rotfl: ) and created some excellent memories.
Good Luck!

M have you seen this yet?

I am going to do that. I ran the Minnie Marathon (15k) on Sunday. It was a lot of fun because my son (18) and Husband ran with me. My next goal is to run the Disney 1/2 Marathon in January. Jim ran the Goofy (1/2 Marathon on Sat and full Marathon on Sunday) last year.

TMI WARNING!

Strapless it way better than stick on!

My aformentioned princess dress has a halter neckline and corsette lacing up the back, so part of the back is open to the waist (a narrow strip, but open nonetheless). Please pass the duct tape.

We're doing the Expedition Everest Challenge in Sept.

We'll also be there for Marathon Weekend 2009. Boys and I are running 5K, my BFF is running 1/2 and DH is doing the full again. He has his eyes on Goofy 2010.

Good Luck!

I actually have a pretty good idea of what we are getting into. That's why I'm a bit scared! I started traveling to skating competitions when I was 11-12. By 13-14, we were flying all over US & Canada. My family joked that we'd seen the inside of ice rinks all over the country. My poor brothers were dragged on most of these adventures. At least the boys will mostly be together for out of town tournaments, both teams will likely go.

ETA: How is Lisa's injury??

I am the exact same but I like to think a "little overweight" but in reality a tad bit more than a little :rolleyes1 . I agree that there are not that many dresses that look good on us shorter set. I dislike heals so I am really bad off.
I have a couple of dresses that I plan on taking but I do need to lose a few lbs. Best quick weight loss tip- one work- Phentermine. Now Roger and Mike will likely admonish the suggestion but it does work.
I don't think I couls talk my sister into writing me a script so I guess I am just going to have to lay off the sweets. :)

First the granny panties and now this?? :scared1: I can't wait to hear this story..I love these stories! (maybe because my life is so full of them!)

The Reds are doing something new this year. For $30 each you get a seat and all the food you want. It is a limited menu (mostly hot dogs, chips, peanuts, pop) but sounds like a good deal. No beer though, which is OK with me I don't drink beer. I heard a lot of groups are getting the tickets. May suggest it for our company summer outing.

My Husband and son (18) did this a few weeks ago at a minor league Cubs game. I am SURE my son got more than his monies worth of food - he can EAT! (Just ask Stacy - he ate at both the early and late seating on the 10 day Christmas Cruise in 2004)
