M....how is your little guy this morning? Was it strep?

So, I was sitting at my desk and suddenly there was this loud rattling sound - a low vibration and what sounded like wind. I opened the window - big mistake. The lights went out. There was this giant roar. I staggered backwards as a giant funnel cloud entered the room with the force of an F5 tornado and siphoned money from one of my credit cards. I reached forward to grab it, but it was too late - the funds were gone.

Still dizzy, I'm even now struggling to catch my breath. I know I may never recover from the trauma of the experience, but I know that time will heal this. Time, and the sure knowledge that I am now paid in full.....

What a hoot!

.... and now for something completely different yet within the same general catagory of finance conservation... or lack of.... I got this bit of PISHER trash in my email this morning... no less it was sent from a claimsagent@yahoo.co.uk adress. Obviously it is a lame attempt at identity fraud - and amazingly they are not asking for as much info as I thought they needed to expoit ones' identity.

Had to book roundtrip airfare from phila to Lax because it was cheaper than booking one way- interesting!!!!

Wierd..a second ago..my post came up and it said post 3000...and then when I went back..itsaid 3001 ..now it says 3002,...whats the deal? Oh well..there is alway post 4000 or whichever!

....you were robbed! May i suggest you lodge a comlaint with our resident legal pro-bono legal counsel - Tom31b? And I hereby appoint myself as judge and marshall in the matter. There will be a kangaroo court filing fee - seeing as I'm rapidly approaching the PIF deadline on our TOAL... so I'll be bumping the filing fee to $1000.

And on another point... I got a last minute invitation to go to a Dodger game last nite. we played the Mets and had a close pitched battle with the New Yorkers.... with LA prevailing in the end! We had great seats off the 1st base line! I have not been to a ball game in some time - and as such this was a real treat!

Actually it's pretty simple when dealing with credit card companies. Just figure out what would end up costing you the most - that's what the credit card company will do.

Wow... who would have figured a "real looking" post took the prize!

Congrats however are in order!!!

When did we pass the 100,000 mark? Saturday or Sunday?

1,000 posts since then, yet suddenly everyone got quiet 2 hours and only 20 posts?:confused3 pirate:

Yeah...

... this pace is pretty amazin', eh? And the scary thing is I'm thinking I've had no trouble keeping up. Go figure.... :surfweb:

:)

When I was 18..I worked in a flower shop..I decided on my birthday..I would send my Mom flowers as a "thank you". 24 years later....I still do it every year. She always seems surprised but I would think after 24 years.."How could she be?" :confused3

I did the same thing, but my card said "Congratulations!"

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I will trade!!:goodvibes 60 and rain. double ick.

Been waiting for airfare to come down. Took over 2 hours to get all the flights booked. Phila to Lax, MCO to Phl, Aruba to Phila. 17 flights and $5,000 later. Eight people plus our son the minister can't miss three Sunday's so he's flying home from Aruba. Who would have thought That a 15 day cruise would have 3 Sunday's Never dreamed when I booked the cruise. Thank goodness I didn't have to pay for the cruise, Isn't DVC great. Makes me appreciate the Vacation Club. All the flights to LAX are non stop It was only about $500 more. Well worth it no missing connecting flight or lossing luggage. For the first time in years we decided to buy insurance $636 to protect the 2,565 points and $350 to protect the flights. Would you believe it was more money for being over 62 maybe they're afraid will die before the cruise.

Glad you got all your arrangements done!!!:yay: I believe in non stop only too!!:thumbsup2

so far as I know. Lauras room at SSR at 7ish. I will send you a pm when I get more info. I think she is flying in today?

Laura is leaving at 9:30 from Lax this morning. :thumbsup2 You all have a nice mini meet!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Don't bother. Everything is ugly.
Or maybe that's just me.

Nope - not just you. Everything is black (I don't do black) or really dark. I not only need dress up dresses for the TOAL but for two weddings as well. One in July and one on the weekend after the TOAL and I can't wear the same dress to the weddings. It's my niece and nephew and they would kill me if I wore the same dress. Haven't found a thing, yet. Need to get busy looking.

Yup. Strep.
One more day home to let the meds kick in. I drug him to work with me. He's fine, just contagious.

I love baseball. We need to get to a game soon.
Nationals have $5 same-day tickets. It think they go on sale at noon or 2 for that night's game. More money for beer an dhot dogs.

I agree with both of you. I wouldn't wear any of the dresses out there to a dog fight! (an old family saying...I don't really go to dog fights)

Or more appropriately, they are all dog-ugly.

I have had so much trouble finding my Mother of the Bride dress. :sad2:
We have two cruises and a wedding.
Better than two weddings and a funeral I guess.

Since my laptop is in the very capable hands of HP (I just got an emailed that they only had it one day and have it fixed:thumbsup2) I have had to do all my ketchup at work. With 10+ pages each morning when I check in not much work is getting done here. Good thing my supervisor is on vacation this week.:lmao:

I already received my Mother's Day gift from DD25. On Friday she had a 30% employee discount from JoAnn's, so she gave me a gift certificate and with the additional 30% off I felt like Cheryl with all my bargains. Most everything I wanted was 40% off and I got the extra 30%. So I pirated a lot of goodies.

Now for my Mom, DH and I are going to take her out to dinner on Saturday (hate those Mother's Day crowds). She likes seafood so will probably go to Bonefish. Don't find a lot of good local seafood here in the Midwest. TastyKakes and fresh seafood, I miss my visits to Baltimore every summer.

Everybody have a great hump day. Back to pretending I am working. Fortunately it is pretty slow today.

Does Todd's family know about this? I'm sure he'd like to meet up. I have his cell number if you want to call him. PM me if you need it.

Edited to say - Have a great meet. They are always so much fun. Plus this may be the last one before TOAL.

I've been finding the same thing - UGLY and way too much black! I already have a black dress - I am trying to find something colorful and fun and maybe even a little "princessy" for the cruise. Of course, it doesn't help that I am only 5'3" and a little overwieght, so many of the dresses designed for tall, thin people look REALLY bad on me.... Also at 43 years old, I don't really feel comfortable in strapless anymore - just looks too young and accents my slightly drooping upper arms!

The Reds are doing something new this year. For $30 each you get a seat and all the food you want. It is a limited menu (mostly hot dogs, chips, peanuts, pop) but sounds like a good deal. No beer though, which is OK with me I don't drink beer. I heard a lot of groups are getting the tickets. May suggest it for our company summer outing.

Well I'm off to the seamstress tomorrow. I have 2 dresses that need some "help". Since my intentions of losing any weight went down the tubes  I hope they can do something with this one to make it larger.

Then I also have a similar, maroon, strapless number that needs hemming and a little taking in.

this would be really easy to expand by keeping the black parts & adding fabric into the white bits. good luck in getting what you want.

In the midst of all the fluff that Roger was posting trying to get another pirate:, question was raised if we wanted to pick a day and everyone try for Palo brunch that day when we are booking on the 19th, that way we would have a bunch of pirate:s together for the same brunch (affectionately called a "couples brunch" although this should by no means be viewed as a disinvitation to the solo cruisers).

There is a planning board thread here to discuss, complete with a poll for which day would be best.

Man I post a squirrel picture and I am accused of fluffing, oh Mr. 8pirate: s.

I can't find anything that isn't either:

1. I'm 16 and going to prom (ridiculous on a 35 year old)
B. I'm 87 and Grandma of the bride (also ridiculous on a 35 year old)

I have a little black dress for semi-formal and my princess night dress that I love - I've had both for several years. I was hoping to find a new dress for the other formal night.

I had a very sad day yesterday. I cleaned out my closet, switched to summer stuff, etc. So I tried everything on. I've lost a bit of weight since last year, so it was nice to fit into most of my clothes, but oh so sad. I love sundresses and I have many. I lean towards classic styles, so I have a lot of my clothes for years. Why so sad? I have about 4 sundresses that I love but I decided to get rid of. They are about mid-thigh length, and well, I'm firmly planted in my mid 30's. The dresses fit, it just looks like I'm trying too hard. :guilty: Getting old sucks.

Same problems exactly! I've ended up buying online and having them altered. It was a last resort, but I'm finally happy with my choices. I got tired of settling for things that were uncomfortable and never did fit right.
