Everyone please check your Vent Dryer!!!
For the last few weeks John and I have been noticing our brand new clothes dryer was not working properly. Our dryer is in the laundry room in the lower level of our house. The vent to our dryer goes accross our entire laundry room and our recreation room. Total is about 25 feet wth the pipe running through our ceiling and enclosed in the inside wall of our laundry room. Even though in 36 years of living here...........I have always cleaned out the dryer in the vent.
The last two weekends we bought a brush and started to see if there was lint in the sheet metal pipe. This is not an easy task as it is 25 feet acroos and has two 90 degree angles coming off the dryer in the wall. We had been getting some lint out and thought that was it.
Saturday I washed clothes and the clothes were not dry after 2 hours. We went out to some charity function and started drying the clothes again Saturday night. In about 15 minutes, I came down stairs and told John I could smell something burning. The dryer was extremely hot!!! We shut it off for the night.
Sunday morning...John being very mechanically inclined.....took a wire to fish out any lint. He managed to go from the outside through the pipe in our ceiling and into the laundry room. He then attached a brush to it to pull out the lint. Well...................Out came 25 feet of the pipe into our back yard. The brush got stuck and the entire straight pie came out. There was at least 8 feet of solid lint in the pipe.
After several wholes in our laundry room wall and ceiling, we fianally managed to put the pipe on the 90 angles. All is well but a few more holes to patch in hte laundry room ceiling a walls.![]()
Sooooo everyone please make sure your vent is clean!!! We were very fortunate that the house did not go up in smoke!!!![]()

You can PM it to me if it makes you happy . . .
I think someone is a bad influence around here, and not sooooo
Innocent
opinions please ????
on our last cruises we gave the customary prices provided by DCL x 4. (and then some for those we found "magical")
I see on the calculator some tip 50% for kids -----does anyone do that on DCL or do you tip the full amount?
Also when it comes to the servers.....do you tip for your kids on the nights they are not dining????? (we did)
But since we are not expecting them to dine with us that much over the 15 nights, I'm wondering what to do. I dont want to be cheap
Just curious as to what everyone else does.
Oh Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Leave it, it wasn't correct, Just my sense of humor I have to edit it at times.
If you and others do not tip, they will go away, giving others a better service.
Not with me you don't -- I know how disappointing it is to come up with a "good one" and feel it is being wasted . . . so feel free if you want.
Would give me permission to fire back, anyway . . .![]()
We drove to Dallas non stop. Worst trip ever.
But, how are they will they know if we are tipping or not in advance in regards to the service we receive?
We had the same thing happen as the other posters. The Head Server only showed up the first and last night. We didn't tip him and he insisted that had to show up at 7am for breakfast on disembakation morning - as it was our only option. Our Server later mentioned that we had the option of going to the buffet whenever we wanted to - which is what we did.

We tip for the 5 of us no matter how many of us are at dinner.I know it adds up over 15 nts! LOL!
You should see your head server, every night even if its a 'hello' and 'everything ok', to give you the opportunity to say if there is something wrong, ask for birthdays or anniversary's, etc, They can help with the lobster and salad preparation, and if your meal service is behind help out.
I think this is a position where DCL is not consistent, some are 'lazy' and you should not tip them for bad or non existent service, but also reward correctly if they do help you with your requests.
If you and others do not tip, they will go away, giving others a better service.
Our head server on the 10nt in Sept '06 was fantastic!
He was very helpful -- even with a *non dining* issue. He heard dh and I discussing booking one of the Med cruises...... he made a point of talking to us at dinner one night and recommended that we not do it at that time. He talked with us for quite a while --- he thought that our youngest would get really bored with most of the excursions. She would have! LOL!
