Interesting you were in the sun, glad it wasn't page three, I did Haven long time ago, it was in Cornwall somewhere, (St Austell.
?)the park was ok, the food, ok, the location was good, and Accommodation again ok, Kids Liked Rory in those days, but we never went back.

It was an opportunity for us to visit BiL & family. She works for social services assessing families with babies who have problems to see if they're suitable to keep the children or if they need to be taken into care, so we don't like staying with them as you never know what type of clients she's got. This time it was a married couple, he has Aspergers & she has special needs & the child is 11 months old, but he was the carer for the wife & has very strong views on everything from tv to food to education (part of Apergers?) so pleased we didn't stay with them. Pool was good, food (didn't try it) & accommodation was fine, so for a weekend it was adequate but not sure about a week there!

Nice for the weekend on the sun special price.Pools can be good.

Very cool opportunity for your DH - wow, an LA hockey kid!
One of my old coaches (Carol Heiss) won gold at that rink.
Lake Arrowhead, CA also has an open-sided rink. The rink at the Olympic training center there is also freaky - no boards and mirrrors along one side of the ice, like a dance studio. It is really odd & disorienting at first - figure skaters aren't used to seeing themselves like that!

That woiuld be freaky!! LOL!

My ds12 is a Leo. He will be 13 on July 27th.

Here's a funny story about my dh's birthday......On our last cruise there were 3 other families we really had a lot in common with, and ended up spending almost the whole cruise hanging out with all of them, including excursions. Well my husband and 2 of the other husband's birthdays all fell on the same day, July 16th. And the fourth husband....when was his birthday? July 15th! We all thought that was such a strange coincidence!

I was going to say - it must be fate but see I was beaten to it

Hang in there - if you need anything - let us know. :tink:

Well since myself and DH are home sick today.......Kids are away this week at my brothers and then my moms......we sat down and went over our excursion list.......

Here are the plans we decided or not decided on so far

Cabo----on our own----either just chillin at the beach with everyone or maybe the Dolphin encounter. $120 cheaper to book ourselves than through DCL.

Puerto Vallarta- DCL SeaLion encounter.....the boys really want to do this one.

Acapulco- DCL Acapulco City Tour with Cliff Divers

Cartegena---DCL Mangrove Eco Tour-----still iffy---not sure I want to leave boat

Aruba----Was considering Jolly Rogers Pirate DIS ship........DH would LOVE it........but me and the kids might not enjoy as much. We only like to snorkel in really shallow water. (big chickens) so we decided on DCL Depalm Island Beach Getaway....since they have the waterpark there we will all enjoy ourselves.

Still have to really decide about Cabo and Cartengena. But at least we got some of the decisions out of the way. Now only if the Wish List was working!!!!!!!!! I cant even delete the stuff on the wish list that we decided not to do.

I have an enquiry out with DCL re thier website issues!! Await a response!

Are you still having trouble with the DCL site???:confused3 The scuba Mickey had to swim a little longer...Three times across the screen but I could see my wish list and ressie.:thumbsup2

WOOO HOOO....just made a rather large payment on the balance due for the cruise...so it looks like we are actually going !!!! I wasn't completely convinced we'd make it , but looks like we are a go!

I know I haven't posted much, but I have been lurking... To keep it on topic...does anyone know what the recommended tips are for the cruise?

Some great choices there, if you will allow me a comment,

Cabo...Care.. tender port small boats either allow the booking with lots of time to get off, as DCL shore trips will get priority, or do the Dolphins by yourself in PV, with the Sea lions should be time, and in PV we dock.

Cartegena---DCL Mangrove Eco Tour, great choice, I am thinking of that, please do not worry about Cartenena, it will be ok in the tourist areas, no problem, the issue is do not go far by yourself.

Does anyone have any information on what would be a good way to spend one day in NYC with two children age 13DD and 11DS?

We will be in the city next Tuesday for just one day and there is so much to choose from I came here to get some advice.

We have been to the Museum or Natural History a couple of time and the Metropolitan Museum of Art a couple of times. We have also gone into Central Park during a weekend day just to enjoy the stroll and various entertainers that are there on the weekends. This being a weekday may not have that

We have been to Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty and Empire State building

We were thinking of Madam Tussauds but not sure how that is
We may also go to TKTS to see what plays are available for that evening
Anyone have any info on how to get discount tickets to Wicked? I know those are not available at TKTS

Anyone have any suggestions on great shopping for a teenager daughter? I personally really dislike shopping but she would love it. She is very into fashion, but high fashion is not in my budget

Any suggestions would be very welcomed

Thanks
:goodvibes

Hi Joan!

Unfortunately you will not get discount tickets to Wicked -- they have never been discounted, not even during the off season as so many are. You can show up and do the front two row ticket lottery and if TWO of you win it, you could have three front two row seats for $25 (if your name is drawn you can buy up to two) . . . look here for details

http://www.wickedthemusical.com/#WickedCitiesNewYorkFAQ

Otherwise, I think just going to the TKTS booth and checking to see what they have available is the best. If you have questions about any particular shows you can PM me.

You can see what was available recently (although there are no guarantees that they will be there when you want them) here:

http://www.tdf.org/TDF_SupportPage.aspx?id=68&do=v

As for shopping, try H and M -- there is one on Fifth and 51st Street, and another near Bloomie's at Lexington and 59th. They have very trendy things and are very inexpensive. My two older daughters (15 and 13) love going there.

Finally, I think your kids would be bored with Madame Toussaud's -- we went once when it first opened but no one was that thrilled (and it is pretty expensive, to boot).

Be sure and ask if you have any additional questions!

UUUGGGHHH----just used the calculator.....another expense I forgot about. Guess I should start a tip envelope at home.

My Scuba Mickey was under for such a time I had to give him the kiss of life...

I looked this morning and my wish list was all there. :cool1: I just checked now and Mickey and my wish list went under for the 3rd time!!!:sad1: :sad1: All my planning just gone!!!

As of June 20 I no longer have a job.
Not sure about TOAL.
Not sure about anything.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
Monica, so sorry. But maybe this will open a new opportunity. How is your son?? Hope everything is ok.

I was thinking the same thing! And we would go a couple of times a year --- I checked with Mapquest and from my house to Orlando is a little over 17hrs..... If it was 12hrs or less I could so talk Jon into driving and going more often! LOL! 5 airline tickets are not cheap! LOL!

We drove to Dallas non stop. Worst trip ever.

Good fortune is coming your way..it HAS to be! Man,life can be stinky sometimes...hang in there!

Brendan and I rented a car for the week...we are still doing the pirate party bus...I will offer to anyone if you need something last minute and we can get it for you let us know! (especially for the Hojo crew!)

I have a driver's ed story! At the end of my last lesson the instructed said to me "YOU will NEVER get your license!"...Well 1 month later I drove by him in my new car! So there! PLttths!

Chrissie

Chrissie, we will have to get together at the hotel :goodvibes

My MIL failed her driving test by driving back on the wrong side of the divided road:lmao: Took her a long time to get that license.

Well gotta go back to work.:surfweb:

UUUGGGHHH----just used the calculator.....another expense I forgot about. Guess I should start a tip envelope at home.

opinions please ????

on our last cruises we gave the customary prices provided by DCL x 4. (and then some for those we found "magical")

I see on the calculator some tip 50% for kids -----does anyone do that on DCL or do you tip the full amount?

Also when it comes to the servers.....do you tip for your kids on the nights they are not dining????? (we did)

But since we are not expecting them to dine with us that much over the 15 nights, I'm wondering what to do. I dont want to be cheap

Just curious as to what everyone else does.

Havent herd about Asti Spumonti ??? is that the correct spelling, is it anthing like Asti Spumante from Italy? I thought you were the one who could spell!

Slumming it for me is anythnig under 'Dom' ( on first name terms):woohoo:

Only 4 bottles ordered so far, in advance, do a few each month!:thumbsup2

Confession: I'm the wine snob! I can spell if I have ever seen a bottle of it:rotfl:

Yeah, I know about you and Dom . . . ;)
