You should see your head server, every night even if its a 'hello' and 'everything ok', to give you the opportunity to say if there is something wrong, ask for birthdays or anniversary's, etc, They can help with the lobster and salad preparation, and if your meal service is behind help out.

I think this is a position where DCL is not consistent, some are 'lazy' and you should not tip them for bad or non existent service, but also reward correctly if they do help you with your requests.

If you and others do not tip, they will go away, giving others a better service.

My Head Server changed our character breakfast day( we had a Palo's bruch at the same time) and did bring us our Anniversary Cake!!!-;) He got his tip!!!

I agree...

What is sometimes forgotten, is whilst we see our servers every night, and consider we tip for that, they also could serve us at breakfast and lunch, in parrot cay or Lumière's, or even Topsiders, when we do not tip.

So even if we miss a night in the restaurants for Palo etc, or the kids go to the kids club, we should give the minimum of the suggested tip amount, unless unhappy with the service provided, and a good Head server, would have that knocked on its head by night two.

I agree Andrew....

A Head Server does all kinds of things for us that we don't often notice as personally managed by the Head Server....

.... and as such we have always dropped the recommended funds UNLESS....

... Unless we have reasonable cause to be dissatisfied and its' cause is accountable to a specific source.

Oooo.... were we talkin' FOOD servers or Computer Servers?

matter has been reported and we are now diligently working towards
resolving this issue.

offered during the 15-Night Panama Canal sailings.

You will enjoy the following theatre productions:

journey to celebrate comedy, romance, heroes and those characters we
love to hate, the villains of Disney films.

When Mickey Dreams (50 minutes) Mickey Mouses dreams come to life in
this musical spectacle guided by a cast of Cirque-like dream seekers.
The shows acrobatics and aerial stunts will thrill guests, while a
nightmare visit by the evil fairy, Maleficent, serves up a few chills.

call upon Lady Tremaines evil Fairy Godfather for help, and trouble
ensues.

Disney Dreams...An Enchanted Classic (55 minutes) - One of the most
popular shows, Disney Dreams, is enhanced as Disney Dreams&.An
Enchanted Classic, with elaborate special effects, animation and new
scenic elements.

Farewell Variety Show (50 minutes)

our Guests cruising on this special itinerary. The details could ruin
the surprise!

I agree...we tipped our HS well short of the recommended tip on our first cruise as he was nonexistent. On the second cruise, we gave a full tip to the head server as he stopped by most (but not all) nights and helped us out when we had an issue. We too have tipped extra each time for the server, assistant server and cabin steward.

We tip for the 5 of us no matter how many of us are at dinner. :) I know it adds up over 15 nts! LOL!

YES it does!!!

Wow, I don't know how I have missed this before, but our deck parties are definitely Cabo, Acapulco, and Aruba? Cabo and Acapulco I can understand, but why have a deck party in Aruba when we are docked until very late???? I guess that would be pirates night, since we are headed into the Caribbean at that point, but it does seem odd to put it on a night when people could choose to have dinner and drinks until fairly late in Aruba. I know you, Andrew had said something about fireworks, but we had fireworks on a day at sea on the Med repo last year . . .

We've had wonderful HS and not so, infact our last ebpc was the worst we ever had. In 14 nights we saw him 1st and last--he even apologized the last evening for his noticeable absences, I still tipped him but about half the recommended amount. Our server and assistant were great and made dinner very enjoyable.

Thanks for posting this Andrew - I am sure the last post with this information that someone else posted is buried somewhere on this thread

Everyone please check your Vent Dryer!!!

For the last few weeks John and I have been noticing our brand new clothes dryer was not working properly. Our dryer is in the laundry room in the lower level of our house. The vent to our dryer goes accross our entire laundry room and our recreation room. Total is about 25 feet wth the pipe running through our ceiling and enclosed in the inside wall of our laundry room. Even though in 36 years of living here...........I have always cleaned out the dryer in the vent.

The last two weekends we bought a brush and started to see if there was lint in the sheet metal pipe. This is not an easy task as it is 25 feet acroos and has two 90 degree angles coming off the dryer in the wall. We had been getting some lint out and thought that was it.

Saturday I washed clothes and the clothes were not dry after 2 hours. We went out to some charity function and started drying the clothes again Saturday night. In about 15 minutes, I came down stairs and told John I could smell something burning. The dryer was extremely hot!!! We shut it off for the night.

Sunday morning...John being very mechanically inclined.....took a wire to fish out any lint. He managed to go from the outside through the pipe in our ceiling and into the laundry room. He then attached a brush to it to pull out the lint. Well...................Out came 25 feet of the pipe into our back yard. The brush got stuck and the entire straight pie came out. There was at least 8 feet of solid lint in the pipe.
After several wholes in our laundry room wall and ceiling, we fianally managed to put the pipe on the 90 angles. All is well but a few more holes to patch in hte laundry room ceiling a walls.

Sooooo everyone please make sure your vent is clean!!! We were very fortunate that the house did not go up in smoke!!!:worship: :worship:

Whew! That is scary to think about. The hose the hoks to ours goes directly outsdie so its not very long. From time to time I do move our dryer out and stick my vacuum cleaner hose in there to get the excess lint out - guess while I am thinking about it I might as well do it! Glad it turned out okay on your end!

This is one (of the many) things I am looking so forward to on this trip! Meeting all of you! I am excited to do so...I like meeting new people (though I feel I know many already..it's the face to face I am looking forward to!)

Tipping...On our DCL we actually didn't tip our maitre'd (if that is what he is called?)..We saw him our first night...then never saw him again until the night we gave our tips out! We split his money with our head server (we really liked him) and assistant. They did all the work so why not give it to them! Funny thing the people at our table did the same thing and we didn't even discuss it prior!

Chrissie

This is what I wanted to do but DH was too chicken not to give him his tip. The only thing he did was introduce himself the first night and then come by the last night for his "envelope". I suppose if we had dietary issues he would have been the one to oversee it but we don't so really he did nothing for us.

Just a quick post before I catch up from the weekend.

Thanks for all the prayers and pixie dust for Lisa at her meet. She did wonderful. She ended up winning the Floor and placing 4th overall. They take the top seven to Nationals,so both she and her friend Bugs (who placed #2) on on the Region 8 Team. They were two very happy little girls!
