Morning all! Well the sun is shining and it is going up to 58 today. Just hate seeing s*** this late in the season. so 17 Mondays left and we are off on the TOAL. Of course dd and I have one more Monday before we head off to WDW on 4/27!   I need an escape. Work has been something else lately os I need some "non" reality!

Hey Tina - after the last two double digits days - what I wouldn't do for a bit of s***. Hopefully Monday only hits the forecasted 80's but I wouldn't hold my breathe. I tried to walk the furrkids today - they boycotted their walk - and it was 7:30 when I attempted. They weren't having any part of it. :confused3 Oh well, they had their chance. :cutie:

Yesterday, the s*** didn't get a chance to stick, it was just the idea of it this late in the season. It's suspose to be spring! It was clold and windy too. Today is nice ans sunny so far and much warmer.

Hi, Laura! Since we will be wanting to find a series of things smaller and larger to give to our SM, the more time we know who we have the better, in my opinion . . . perhaps you could have a rolling enrollment where those already signed up are assigned next month and then you set a deadline for any new signups and sign them up closer to time? On the other time, I can see this being a lot more work, and since I'm not the one doing the work I will happily accept my SM assignment whenever I get it!:goodvibes

I agree. If it is possible, that would be great. I appreciate you doing this!

afternoon..:surfweb: been MIA.. I started the new job last Monday and haven't had time to DIS at all with the Eagle ceremony, scouts and NHS all last week plus the new job things have been busy.. Scouts went camping this weekend.. it was COLD with rain and snow and COLD.. it was very MUDDY too.. great fun  ..so today I am cooking, cleaning, laundry and stuff before I LEAVE on Monday for the week..

BTW i was in lady clothes all week and MY FEET Hurt. I am not used to wearing anything but gymn shoes.. so to get dressed up and wear flt or flatish lady shoes.. :scared1:

Hope you like the new job, Susan. Too bad about having to wear the big girl clothes, though

Just wanted to make sure you all knew I was still alive....and I KNOW some of you were concerned  ;) .....have still been trying to catch up on paperwork and stuff....and now DS has that nasty staph again....one thing after another.
Have been able to skim a little (very little) but it's killing me to not be on here every day!!

Hi Stace :wave2: . Sorry to hear your son is sick again. Hope he recovers quickly.

I have been doing some research on the Tall Ship Festival in San Pedro August 15-17th. They are expecting 200,000+ people over the weekend to see these ships. :scared1: Here is the map of where they will be docked. If they are still there on Sunday (still do not have a schedule) when we leave, we will be sailing right by all of them. Those of you staying in San Pedro are in luck since many of them will be docked along Ports O'Call and will be available to explore Saturday afternoon and something to look at while dining.

Thanks for the info, Roger. I saw the Tall Ship Parade in Boston quite a few years back and it was something to see. I don't think we will see the parade since they are coming in before Saturday

party: I JUST PIF !!!!!!!!!

Can I join the party....I PIF on Friday :dancer: party: :dancer:

Also at Old Navy for your older boys and DH's......

......or me

Chrissie your quote didn't come out but, thanks for the encouragement about DD! And DS is still not feeling great, he's coughing a lot, but funny thing is it seems to have settled into my neck. For 3 days I've had a stiff neck & just over all tired, but no other symptoms. :confused3

I hope you and DS feel better soon :flower3: . That coughing cooties is making its' way around here too.

pirate: I am not trying just want to help someone else

pirate: pirate: Congrats on the pirate, Roger

Good morning:goodvibes Hope everyone is well today.

Adam is taking his ASVAB test today for the Navy. I honestly have very mixed emotions. Here I thought he was going to start business school in January. Why do they have to grow up so fast?

I know Cheryl posted something a week or two back about the "Group Rate" available at the Doubletree, but I can never find anything on this board (especially with an intervening pirate:)..... So anyone who knows what the "Group Rate" is, please supplement..... (and tell me if the "" on the "Group Rate" are warranted.

Today's rate for booking on the Doubletree website are $143.10 for non-refundable (pay at booking) and $159.00 for cancelable up to ?? hours prior to arrival (24 I think, may be 72). Both are queen bed and for the night of 16th only. Check for other combos.

I do a fair amount of travelling for work and one of the organizations I deal with has a preference for the Hilton chain (Doubletree is a Hilton property). I have found that if you check every day, you will get different rates every day. Some higher, some lower....

If I remember correctly, the rate Cheryl had posted was in line with the rates on the website now and is more than some people may have booked for months ago.

Once cool thing with Hilton is you can book and cancel over and over as long as you don't pick the non-refundable rates. So if a better rate comes along, you can book it first then cancel the old rate.

Another thing with Hilton "Group Rates" is if you fall below the minimum number of rooms, you either lose the rate and go to current rack rate or you have to guarantee the rooms (otherwise, book 10 rooms and cancel 9....).

All this said (and wow I take the long way to get to the point) I'm not sure the "Group Rate" will benefit the group.

Thoughts?

ETA: One other thing to consider is that with the Tall Ships in town, hotels will likely become scarce as we get closer.

That's up for debate. I say 18 since we haven't had this Monday yet. Roger would say 17 since we are out of bed.

Umm....out of different beds...at least Lisa and I are...out of bed that is...at least I assume...I have no idea where Roger is...

I have been up for awhile. But since I took the day off I am still counting today. If I had been working I would have said it doesn't count. And as far as what kind of long distance relationship you and Lisa are having on Mondays I would not touch with a

Envious about your trip to WDW....with the snow last week, it would have been nice to get away. However, I need to save my vacation days for August.

Agree about the snow. Last Thursday we had so much snow that they cancelled the Rockies-Braves afternoon game because of the snow. It had all melted by 5 pm, but at game time it was coming down like a blizzard.

Our weekend was gorgeous and it's suppossed to be in the 70's and near 80 today and tomorrow, but Wednesday we could get more of that dreaded snow. It'll be too "warm" (if you call mid to upper 30's warm) to stick to anything, but I just want it to be Spring and stay Spring!

At least they're calling for it to be sunny and in the 60's the later part of the week and weekend.

I can’t belive I forgot to mention this…
BARGAIN ALERT!!!!

I almost never go to Dollar Tree, but I took this kids Saturday to help make up for 3 hours of suit shopping. ANYWAY, they had continuous spray SPF 30 sunscreen for a BUCK! I love that stuff, but it is pretty spendy and a bottle doesn’t last long. The stuff I bought No-Ad and doesn’t expire until 04/09.

The kicker?? Pirates of the Caribbean themed bottles! pirate:

I bough 15.

Now Roger.... she was just trying not to give any fuel for JR to comment on....

:lmao: That's exactly what I was thinking... although I though I'd be accused of being in bed with Roger, not Lisa!

Oh, and I'm not gonna touch that 10 foot pole comment with a...well..you know...

Soooo many inappropriate juvenile comments... such a family friendly board....

I just requested off the morning of Monday, May 19th. I emailed my boss (who works in PA, I am in OH) that I had an "appointment". I didn't say it was an appointment with my computer. :rotfl2: Said I wasn't sure when I would be in and if it was late I would "work from home". :thumbsup2 :rolleyes1

My TA emailed me to say she hadn't heard about us being charged the extra $5 for the Mexican ports. Hopefully I will be PIF by early May and not have to pay it. I did receive my planning kit on Friday. Not a whole lot of new stuff but exciting none the less.

We didn't have internet this weekend (disconnected it to paint) so I am trying to ketchup.

Wishing everyone a Happy Monday and only 17 more until TOAL.:yay:  :yay:

Its Cheryl again!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I cam trying to get through to Super shuttle.
Don't cout us out yet!!!:cool1:

Okay I got the group rate of $158.52 including all taxes for the Doubletree at San Pedro. We have to book 10 rooms but we must use at least use 8 out of the 10 ressies made. They have two shuttles and start at 11 am to about 12:30 pm. ...then a lunch break. They said with lots of luggage they could transport about 16 peeps at a time. The group booking had me talk to the head that transports the shuttles to the port. There is no set charge but he would expect about $5.00 a family in gratuities. That is all I found out and didn't mean to step on any toes Stace. I am just trying to see all the options.

Tom, here is Cheryl's post about the Doubletree rate.

I am going to go to Dollar Tree TODAY to look for these! Thanks so much for the alert!!!

I bought the POC No-Ad sunscreen for the kids on our last cruise and it worked great for us.

Save some for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :headache:

Sounds like the stuff from Walmart last year....

I'll have to go to ours and check it out at lunch.

DD likes the spray kind and isn't allergic to No-ad so a good match. (she gets a rash from coppertone BION)

Cheryl got further with the Doubletree than I did. Good job, Cheryl!

It DID boil down to the rooms being actually cheaper if you booked online on your own. And if switching to a group rate means cancelling your ressie and re-booking, under the circumstances with the Tall Ships, that wouldn't be a good idea anyway.

I can't wait to see those ships! Thanks for that info, Roger. Made us realize we had better make advanced dinner reservations. My son is REALLY going to be irritated if he finds out I get to see those ships and he doesn't. Oh well....maybe when he's 50, he'll get to take a TOAL. ;)

Okay.....We are both finally back from the dead.:yay: John and I have not been that sick  in years.:sad2: :sad2: John missed two days of work last week and he had only missed 3 days for his 4 by-pass surgery. My adorable DGC must learn to keep their nasty little germs  to them selves!!:lmao: :lmao:

I have been catching up a little. I didn't realize how much this thread can move.

Cheryl, glad you and John feel human again:goodvibes
