Thanks for the pictures... I am jealous already!!!:rolleyes1
Me too:sad2: Thanks for the pics Andy:thumbsup2

I had a visit from the tag fairy!!!!!!!!

I am in pretty colors now!!!!

:cheer2: :yay: :dance3:  :cool1: :cheer2: :yay: :dance3: :cool1:
I'm so jealous. I gotta try to say something tag worthy one of these days:confused3

We went to see Horton Hears a Who tonight. Absolutely adorable! Way better than I expected (I have been saying that a lot lately about movies).
Just struck me tonight that it is around $100.00 for the 4 of us to go out to dinner - moderate place like Chili's- and a movie with a few snacks thrown in, and we do this every week. When I was growing it was so different. We did not have the money for eating out and movies. It was a real treat when we did.
Along the same line. Tonight we went into a store called "The Walking Store". My intent was to try on a pair of Tevas to make sure the size I needed. I saw some on SierraTradingPost.com for $40.00 but they were not the color I wanted, but to save $40.00 I was going to buy them anyway. Well after I tried on the ones in their store that were the color I really wanted, I caught myself rethinking my thrifty ways. After we got in the car I was mentally calculating the small amount of time I would have to work to make up for the ones I wanted and sure enough, I am going to go back tomorrow and buy them. My Grandparents in the depression, and my childhood upbringing would think me absolutely frivolous and irresponsible.
Strange when I think about it.
Maybe too maybe warm Toll House Cookies after the movie. ;)
I go through periods of spending and then sanity kicks in ;)
I love going to the movies too and also prefer the happy endings for the most part. Lately I've had to go alone because DH doesn't want to go and my friends have been busy:confused3
I desperately need new shoes also, but I have the hardest time finding anything that looks ok on my wide feet and doesn't hurt. I hate shoe shopping:headache:

My loving son is still giving me a hard time about canceling Disneyland. I think I'll show him your post so he can see how serious this is. Thanks!
Oh Stace, pneumonia is nothing to fool around with:sad2: You did the smart thing by staying home:thumbsup2

I'm sooooo Jealous!

I've got some 8,000 postings and only ONE tag fairy thingy.

Oh well... I'm in San Diego - just had a nice supper with BIL and family. Thier hotel is very chic - it's like a W only a little more hip if ya ask me. And I love thier room - but not the so called $400 a nite tab. It's called the Ivy - and if ya fon't mind the tab- it's well worth the time to stay - not to mention it's well sited in the Gaslamp district.

Ou hotel - the La Jolla Shores (is that what its' called) is a nice little place - well appointed however it has exterior corridors. The staff are quite nice though.... and the room is definately cozy.

SO this evening the kids ran amok together - cousins - they are very cozy together.

Anyways - Alicia is on Augmiten (misspelled) and shes nominally wacked. Kalea is now on Omnicef - and shes' soldiering on with incredible energy. Julianna is free of her fever and the cough is fading rapidly now - however her energy and spirit is only half recovered. As for me - I'm OK... no symptomns and OK after a longish drive south. There was little to ZERO traffic much of the way so it was amazingly breezy.

Hope everyone is doing well and ready for the weekend, tomorrow is legoland fer us.

Cheers - while I read backwards to catch up a bit...;)

Glad your family is doing better Crash:grouphug:

Like I said earlier- it took me 6 years!!!! to get a tag. Think about it. The DIS was a much smaller community during those days and still no tag. Laura has been here a couple of years and she is full of tags. I must not say anything that interesting. :lmao:

I hate shoe shopping! I do not like shoes and I do not think they are that attractive on me either. On my last cruise my sister brought 5 pairs of shoes- for a 4 day cruise. I brought 2. Of course I did wear some on hers.
Above all I go for comfort. I am the exact opposite of a shoe horse.

Everybody is up and we are about to head out the door and meet up with everyone. Going to be cold (for us) today but the rain is not suppose to get here until overnight. :cool1: :cool1:

Down in San Diego I'm the first up (and last asleep)... I'm going to let everyone rest for as long as possible - and catch up with my BIL at LL at a cozy pace. No need to hustle this mornin' is how I see it since all 3 girls are recoverin', eh?

aisha-recovering-for-the-final-mission.jpg

Only thing that's got a burr up my shorts this morning is they've got a team out here running leaf blowers right now - and it's sort of anoying me as I think it's nominally disturbing to the girls' rest. Oh well.... :confused3

Just back from the doctor and a short wait (20 mins...not bad at all) at the pharmacy.
It's bronchial pneumonia. He would have liked to have admitted me, but I whined enough that he let me go home.
Antibiotics, cough syrup and an inhaler. Have to check back in with him on Monday...hopefully with good signs of improvement.

Wow Stace it's a good thing you went to the doctors! Take care!

We end up spending about $100 everytime the 4 of us go to dinner & we also tend to visit moderate places like the 99's, Chili's, Macaroni Grill, etc. I think it's because DH & I will purchase a couple of alcoholic beverages & that tends to really hike up our bill. We are thinking of going to see Horton at Chunky's which is a movie theater/pub & we can do our eating & drinking all at one place. :thumbsup2

I tell my kids all the time how lucky they are, but I'm not sure they get it. I come from a family of 9 kids & my father worked 2 full time jobs just to put food on the table. A vacation for us consisted of a cottage at a local beach area. I wasn't even on a plane until I was 15 years old. My kids think nothing of hopping on a plane, heading to WDW, traveling on a cruise, etc. I sometimes think we are being way too frivilous, especially since my DH has to work a lot of overtime to pay for our vacations. I just hope my kids look back & really treasure the incredible vacations we've been lucky enough to have as a family.

Congrats Cheryl!

Speaking of weather...did ya'll see the tornado that whipped through downtown Atlanta? :scared: The damage is terrible, but no deaths were reported thank God!

Stace,

I've posted this before - but here it is again.... Pneumonia is DEADLY serious. I met someone (can't recall who - so I'm having another senior moment it seems) who recently told me about a friend of thiers who was OUR AGE and in otherwise normal good health - well they caught Pneumonia and died of it! And that thought really scared me into loking upon flus and the risk of pneumonia very VERY seriously. Add to that - that this influenza season is peaking above the "epidemic" thresholds and you have a lot to pay attention to...

I wound up with antibiotics and an inhaler after my visit to the Dr a week ago. Doing WAY better now. But I was still wiped out by the end of the day all this week. So, be sure to get your rest!

My co-workers kept telling me about the engineer at our AZ campus who, got this flu, double pneunmonia and was dead 7 days later. So, I took myself off to the Dr without further ado. :scared1:

Glad I did - I'm getting over this thing faster than the folks who didn't. That's for sure.

Well, our school auction is tonight. There have been some significant changes to it from the last few years. It'll be interesting to see how much we clear. Past few years we've netted $130K - $160K. But this one is smaller - on the other hand - more competition for few items may not be a bad thing....

In any case, I'm in charge of Check-in and Check-out. Which means I've got to toddle off here pretty soon and get all the computer and credit card equipment set up.

O K people, Stace knows to take it easy. Whew scare someone why dontcha.

My DGS cough still doesn't sound any better either so she is taking him for chest xray Monday if he doesn't sound any better.

Where are the pictures of the group at DL????? Come on guys, I am starving for entertainment.

Almost forgot. Pinchhitting for Liz.

Current temp is 84 going down to a nice 68 tonight. Clear and beautiful day today. Wish you guys could enjoy it.

Diane - I was 18 and on my way to basic before I stepped foot on a plane. My family has 6 kids and only one working parent so we too got a bit crafty with excursions. My dad would take us all out on Sunday to the local park or beach and we would spend some hours there. LOL - one Sunday - I remember we came back from the beach hours late - EVERYONE was starving and we had pancakes late at night - ok - it was about 7:30. Then off to the bath and then bed. I thought it was the perfect ending to the perfect day. No one really fighting - getting along as well as six kids can in a cooped up shell (who had RV's back then? :confused3 ) Anyway, come to find out years later - we stayed so long because my father got shorted on his paycheck that week and mom had NO food in the house except flour batter. She didn't know what to do until she came up with the idea of pancakes as a "special treat". We ate like horses that night and I don't know what happened that week but we certainly all ate. Things were rough and we never really "travelled" far but we did do something local every sunday so I have no idea where I came up with this "wander-lust" of mine. Years later as an adult - I tried to instill this practice with my DH - he did not want any part of it - so instead he introduced me to the finer things in life - little by little. BOY! Bet you he's sorry now! :lmao:

In response to wondering if we are spoiling our kids - yes - we probably are but I think that we've done the best we could. My kids have seen that my childhood was rough - their aunts and uncles have had problems. They also realize that they have had privileges that their cousins don't have and to this day, I have not seen them lord it over anyone - (probably cuz they know that I'd knocked them upsides the head - J/K ;) ) They will eventually realize but it will not become verbal until they are adults.

I have not heard it per say from the kids yet - oldest are soon to be 22 and 21 and while they haven't exactly said - wow - thanks for sacrificing mom and dad - they do always ask if we are taking a "family" vacation (on my birthday and anniversary of course! ;) :rotfl2: ) They complain bitterly but when they converse with other and tell them where they have been - they have said - wow - I guess I've done a lot of things. So far - they are all extremely jealous of the youngest as she has by far done more traveling then they have - and at a younger age.

In closing - yes - we may be spoiling them but don't think of them as spoiling - think of it as "expanding their minds - the Disney way!"
Their experiences and memories with the family will go a long way to producing happy memories and fulfilled adults. So yes - I do spoil my kids wholeheartedly - and how else are we going to get them off to college so that they can earn their OWN money for these vacations? if they don't experience - they don't know! :rotfl:

Cheryl you would be proud of me. :thumbsup2 (and congrats on the tag fairy) I went shopping this afternoon and got everything at least 30% off with another 30% off from a coupon...so pretty good for someone who doesn't like to shop. Most of it was for the cruise. Had to get DH a suit (he doesn't like to dress up and his previous suit was too small). Then we got a new garment bag. I got some black dress shoes and a new swim suit.

Still anxiously waiting for pictures from the mini meet. I am really so jealous. It is finally a little warmer here, but it was so foggy this morning I couldn't even see the street from my front porch.

Hope everyong is getting over all the yuckiness that is going around. So far our family has fared pretty well. Knock on wood.

And I went for the interview on Wednesday and it looks like the job is mine. :cool1: They are going to have to work out the details. They didn't think they would find anyone internally and were expecting it to take 3-4 months so they don't have the job flushed out. For now I am going to work in that office part time and my current office part time. I think this will work best for all concerned. I can see if this is what I really want and they can see if I am what they are looking for. I just hate the drive. This office is a few miles further (25 vs 15 miles) from my home. I live between the 2 offices.
