6 TRUTHS OF LIFE

1. You cannot touch all your teeth with your tongue.

2. All idiots, after reading the first 'truth', will try it.

3. The first truth is a lie.

4. You are smiling now because you're an idiot.

5. You will soon forward this to another idiot.

6. There is still a stupid smile on your face.

No in fact I am sticking my tongue out at you! Too bad you can't see me! :rolleyes1

Well, this has been a week. ... [ed]...

Heck, I still remember the excitement of when our net worth rolled to the positive side! Our goal was to actually have a net worth before we were 30 :)

Well...

... after the declines in real estate most of us have had nation wide it might be interesting to calculate what we've lost on a daily or hourly basis (to some extent)....

Math Alert!

Seriously, I'll NOT get into that... at least not until I gather financial data on everyone. SO.... if you would be so kind as to just PM... A-N-D-R-E-W your data (or some kind of random numerical mumbo-jumbo) cuz eventually we'll clutter and FILL up his PM box ... and best is if ya' take the random numerical mumbo-jumbo route so as to give Andrew something to muse over. Remember.... he was the one who originally proposed filling MY private message box with Mickey Ice Cream Bar tax questions....

< wink >

Seriously, every person who PMs Andrew shall be entitled to 1 FREE Mickey ice Cream Bar ... AND .... one FREE Disney Show or Movie while embarked on our sailing. And to the individual who sends Andrew the MOST CONFUSING numerical PM ... determined by popular vote (I'm the only one voting popularly) ... that DIS neighbor shall receive a wonderful digital image of an "exotic" cake. 2nd place and "honorable mention" PMers shall receive digital images of a "surprise" nature.

Thank You in advance to all who contribute to clutterring Andrews' in box with numerical nonsense. ROARING Chuckles and jeers to all who think about doing it but refrain in an effort to maintain a snippet of sterotypical "English" dignity and decorum.

:lmao: Ya think Andrews' lurkin'...? :lmao:

On another note... my older daughter came home yesterday from her Brownie meeting complaining of being sleepy tired and low in energy. It turns out she had a fever of about 103 last nite and 105 this morning. We kept her home and I'm hoverin' over her with chicken noodle soup, grapes, Asian pears and childrens' Advil. I also moved a little TV and DVD player into her bunk bed where shes' camped out now. She's hovering around 100-101 now... so the medication is just keeping it under control now - or so it seems. And if this persists into tomorrow morning then she will miss the visit to the Easter Events at the Reagan Library - and a birthday party in the afternoon. However, it is best for all considered if she stays home if she has any symptoms tomorrow morning.... right?

So this means I'm likely to be at chat tonite.

Man Tom you got some nasty stuff growing at your house. Sorry to hear that your DD is sick. You need to get the Lysol out and disinfect your house. Have to admit that there is a lot of late season flu going around. CDC has now recommended flu shots through March. Not that they will do any good at this point. Take care of your little one Tom. :grouphug:

Thin, and minty!

Some questionable characters those friends you are travelling with?? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I happen to know that they are fine, upstanding, model citizens.

Well, at least the husband.

(Just kidding, luv ya, hon!) :lovestruc

Was I drinking when I posted that?:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

1) In reference to me having a valid point, well, even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes.

2) In reference to your remark, have you caught whatever has been going around? Did you fall on your head or something?

3) Now that you and I have agreed on something, I think I just heard a little guy dressed in red with a pitchfork in his hand saying something about it being frozen over or something like that.

Not bad for an Okie. Here's the ones you missed:

Iggle: Eagle, usually the "Giant Iggle", a regional grocery store.
Hoagie: Submarine sandwich. Like Subway, no, nothing like Subway. Best with some chipped chopped ham from Isaly's.
Night Turn: Graveyard shift in other parts of the country.
Gumband: A rubber band
Buggy: Stroller Nope, a shopping cart at the Giant Iggle
An Order (usually at the Giant Iggle): A grocery list.
Jaggers: Thorns (particularly on bushes, known as 'jagger bushes'
Sheetrock: Plasterboard aka drywall
Spicket: Outside Water Faucet any water faucet
Soap Powder: Laundry Detergent
Dish Soap: Dawn any dishwashing liquid, yes
Tossle Cap: ski cap, known as a toque to les canadiens
Sliding Board: Playground slide
Zapper: A Bug Light Remote control for the TV
Stationary Tub: Laundry sink, usually in SW PA, particularly if you have a septic tank, you'd have your washing machine empty into the stationary tub. My mom used to use the water to water her garden rather than sendng it down the drain.

Actually I'm a yankee! Minneapolis born and raised. Moved down here to the dust bowl in the early 80's...just after the oil bust.

Thank you. Without your posts, the website wouldn't have 1/2 the info it does!

Too funny.
DH and I annoy each other with that song all the time!

Which begs the question: To whom do you report a moderator?

I'll admit that I can't resist skimming through locked threads & I have never seen a mod join the fray as he/she was closing it. Not cool IMHO.

Two thoughts for ya', yes, I think you are right, "Discussion Ended" and then another point. But, ya' can't win this one, so deep breath and throw yourself into harrassing Julie on this thread!

I remember that thread, and I remember thinking that the other poster that was going after you was completely out of line...getting all technical on something silly. I totally phased out on their responses...just all fluff, and is all about people's opinions.
I do not agree with how the moderator closed the thread either. I could care less about their opinion of going to Med....their loss.

Unbelievable. Is there a way to report a moderator?

Maybe report to one of the Webmasters?? It kind of sounds like going through the Jedi order....The padowans answer to the jedimasters, the moderators answer to the Webmasters, etc etc??

I sent him a PM that I thought the comment was rude and uncalled for and not very "DIS-like".
You can report a moderator to another moderator. I bet the Webmaster would be interested too.

BTW everyone... We are not allowed to quote or discuss closed threads either.... (it was a problem before)

(don't ask why; just a mod rule) Trying to be nice so they don't have to edit our thread too much now...

Not sure if it was out-of-line, but it was certainly off point. No one was saying 100% of American families were interested in cruising in Europe (just as 100% aren't interested in cruising period and not all families are even interested in going to Disney World).

I think the mods do a great job, but make occasional human mistakes like it seems like here. I tend to give the mods some slack because it isn't an easy job.

I do wish they could keep some of the threads on topic to avoid these type of things. I got warned by a mod once for comments I made and was really ticked and left the boards for awhile. Someone posted asking about internet access on board and I gave her my opinion on the service and then someone else came back with the "why would anyone want to work on board a cruise" which started a lot of heated discussion.

I told the woman to take her 'holier-than-thou' attitude elsewhere since the OP wasn't looking for a value judgement, just advise. She came back with a remark about 'going away to polish her halo' and I responded with something along the lines of "I have something you can polish"... One of those "I shouldn't have said that moments".

But my point, (yes I do have one), is the mod should have been the one to step in and tell the other poster she was off topic.

Andrew I'm sorry they came down on you. I agree the Mod was wrong in airing their opinion. Just should have closed the thread, period.
:rotfl:

Thanks Deanna, I forgot I had it stashed in the freezer. Good thing the kids don't open anything they think is food. :rotfl:

Hi guys I am still around, the reason for an hour off, is in fact my kids hi-jacked the Internet, and wouldn't allow me on! Anyway I sent a PM to the Mod, just to say my feelings.

I haven't had a response as yet, I didn't want to inflame it by going further, and its best for us to stay within the Dis guidelines so best maybe to drop the subject as now, wouldn't wish to get anyone in any trouble.

But I again thank everyone for their tremendous support, I personally really appreciate it, I would feel that if a thread is closed it should have a neutral position at the end.

GUYS/GIRLS Thanks again.

I wonder if there are any thin mints left from our GS cookie purchase?

BRB....

Wow, there WERE Thin Mints left. And a couple of Samoas and even a Tagalong. (Operative word there was "were").

I guess the kids haven't been eating them because SWMBO made enough birthday cake last weekend to feed 10 kindergarten classes and they've been eating that all week instead.
