:rotfl: :rotfl: ok none of those for me please....

Lisa the regulations for carry-on are as follows:

I would think something along that size or a little bigger.

I know you can get a large "camping" backpack to go thru with no problem. My son has carried it on for my husband on several past cruises filled with "liquid refreshments" for my husband and many of his friends who had to fly in. Since we live in Florida, we didn't have airline issues to deal with.

Now they are saying 3-5 inches here tomorrow. DD and I are going to Sandusky to Great Wolf Lodge so, we may be driving in snow, but I sure won't be shoveling this weekend!

My mom was from Painesville, so I know you guys get lake effect too.

Even though it's sunny and in the 60's here (today), do you want to bet on who gets the last snow of the season? Can't wait until summer!

I agree with Roger , 6pm regardless of the rotation , the only thing that is for sure right now is the 6pm dining time wether it would be staggered dining or single time dining ....Rotation and what nights are when are still up in the air ...Captains dining will remain at 6pm regardless of rotation or theme night ...That is all ..everyone back to scrubbing decks ...LOL

Thanks to you and everyone else who has expressed their concern regarding both the schools and issues with the kids. We moved from an awesome school district in the Johnson County suburbs of Kansas City to what we thought was an excellent school district in Colorado. However, we found out that here in Colorado, it really depends on the individual school and not the overall district. There is no consistency. After our recent ordeal with having to change schools mid-year for our middle DS, we have applied to the district to be "choiced" into an elementary school next year that's outside our normal boundary. We find out in early April if we get our choice (fingers crossed).

School admin has a huge impact on the individual school. Fortunately for us, our youngest DS attended another elementary school this past year as it was the only one that offered all day kindergarten. Although we didn't always agree with all of that principal's decisions (we're very involved in our kids schools), we find that overall she really impresses upon her staff to do what's best for the kids and their education. We like her no nonsense approach and hope our youngest two get into that particular school next year vs the care-free whatever goes principal in our boundary school.

ITA on the individual schools thing. Everyone told us before we moved here that we just had to move to the county we moved to...the best school district in the country, blah blah blah...to the point where it was assumed that we simply didn't love our kids if we didn't move here. That is not why we chose the house we ended up in, but we did move to the "right" county.

Well, my kids have now been in 4 schools in 3 school districts in their lives, and this is the least satisfied that we have ever been! I am so not impressed. Talk about teach to the test.

hi everyone! i haven't been here all week....missed chat last week....feeling outta the loop. gotta go get caught up! hope you are all having a great week so far! can't wait til friday, cuz i'm on a long weekend after that! i took monday off...working tues....and off again on weds! i can't wait!!! i'm in need of a mental health day!!

Good Morning Pirates. Sorry I've been off, but real life hit hard. Finally all caught up again.

*** :offtopic: Forewarning Rambling On :offtopic: ***

FIL had passed away earlier this month, and now we need to take care of MIL, which she does not get around too good. DH and I hate to even leave her alone while we go to work, we have been looking for nurses to help out but nothing has come out as of yet, the nurses only come for about 2 hours a day, which would be okay, but then what do you do for the other 6 hours until DH or myself gets home. My MIL has fallen quite a few times and can not get up by herself. She refuses to use that alert button that we have tried to get for her. BIL is no help and neither is any other family members that live in the area. You would think that at times like this, they should want to help, without thinking what can I get in return. It just makes me :furious:

Ironically, this was an article this Sunday in the paper. They listed some agencies to help. Eldercare Locator ..can point you towards agencies around the country concerned with the aging.. eldercare.gov 1-800-677-116
National Alliance for Caregiving, caregiving.org

We also have a company around town called Granny Nannies. Don't really know much about them but I remember they were written about with no negative feed back. Hopefully these sites can assist you further

KSDisneyDad, I am so sorry to hear this..........I am still fighting my ankle/foot pain too. I am in the same boat (haha) as you. I have not been able to walk nor run for over 2 weeks now. I am going stir crazy. After carving out time to run 5 - 6 miles every other day, now nothing, I feel like such a slug. I am still eating basically nothing and have gained a pound or two - YIKES! I go back to the orthopedic tomorrow, hopefully he will have some more answers???

Take care of yourself and get well SOON!!

Thanks! I know what you mean about going stir crazy about not getting out and running/exercising. It's been way too long for me (and about 12 extra pounds). I was just thinking on my walk this past Tuesday night how I felt like I'm ready to start running a little. My DW is trying to talk me into another type of exercise because injuries to the foot, ankle or knee can cause a gout flare-up according to the doctor that saw me yesterday.

I booked a category 4 on the Eastbound Repo today!!! I am so excited to be joining you all....

There were 4's & 5's available for a bit today but they seem to be gone now.

~Ingrid

That's great! Congrats and welcome!!!

Hi Shannon :goodvibes

Like the kids new picture dressed in St Pattys green.

OK I've caught up. I am stalling cleaning my Bedroom as it has become a hoarding nightmare. Took half the closet out and recycled some slacks that didn't fit and now do. Need to get cracking here........

I've thought about starting over with my tags also.
I think they might be the 2 least interesting things I've written on the Dis.

That's so funny because I have been thinking of deleting mine, too. I never liked it -- it seemed like it was making fun of me more than anything, and while I know that is sport around here, it requires explaining everywhere else on the DIS and since I've been posting over in the DLRP section lately, it seemed odd.

But I like being part of the cool crowd for once in my life and having a tag, so I have been hesitating.

Maybe we need a 'tag ripping' party.

I'm a 'lapsed runner' myself so I know what you mean. We decided to go to Atlanta over the July 4th holiday and I considered for about 15 minutes trying to get into the Peachtree Road Race again but then decided 'heart-attack hill' didn't need me as a victim. But I did run on the treadmill yesterday so that's a start.

Spring is coming (along with 3-7 inches of s*** tomorrow) so maybe we can start encouraging each other to get off our lazy adds and exercise.

So with that, off to the cafeteria. I thought I saw a donut down there this morning....

What is it called when you hear something and then all of a sudden you keep hearing it everywhere?

Just saw this on cnn.com.

Great Web sites when aging parents need help

The donut was gone, btw.

Hi Shannon :goodvibes

Like the kids new picture dressed in St Pattys green.

thanks so much! i figured it was time to get rid of the christmas pic. i need to go get the kids easter pics done...but i'm feeling waaay too lazy!!
how've you been?

The good news: I get to go on a weeklong boondoggle field trip for work.

The bad news: I will be in Po-dunk, PA at midnight on May 18. :scared1:

The really bad news: DH will have to book Palo/spa

The really really bad news: His first reaction: "Not gonna happen."

Ummm, let's see....I got up at 3 am to get us on the stinkin' cruise, I've done all the research, booked all the excursions, bought the plane tickets, reserved the rental cars (all at relative bargains), I'll make arrangements for the dog, buy everyone's clothes, figure out who's wearing what to dinner each night so we are coordinated but not matchy-matchy, and pack everything except his clothing, but it is too much trouble for him to stay up one night to get us some good Palo & spa times? Hmph.

how've you been?

We are still hanging in there. It was a tough few weeks at work. Seems the full moon must have come in faster in some areas as the people we were talking to were totally wacko.
Finally hung everything up in the closet and now need to tackle the hoard of papers all over the bedroom. Yuck

Too nice a day to be cleaning and doing :laundy:

Yeah...what he said..... :headache:

My tags are from elsewhere too and are almost 2 years old.... Now nothing new or different.... I'm ready to erase and start new ones myself.

Ummmm.... We kinda had some tag fairy action. Just colors to existing tags...
