Congrats again....just as I start to work out again, I get struck my another setback. Around 3:00 a.m. this morning I was awoken by the pain from another gout attack. I wish I knew what brought these on, but after having walked about three miles each day during the past week and a half, I now can barely walk around the house. (I was running 5 miles a day before these gout attacks started). I guess it'll be a while before I can try again. I am eating better and will do what is necessary to be at goal by the cruise!

So sorry to hear this!

Thanks so much for sharing the info:goodvibes

Oh, I got myself into trouble too one time. I was at a training lecture and the instructor was trying to give us advice about our new jobs as patent examiners. Well after mentioning (for the third time in the space of 15 minutes) that we shouldn't look at child pornography on computers at work, I couldn't help myself... I said "but the adult stuff is ok, right?" Everyone laughed, but I wished I had kept my mouth shut. He was trying to help us:blush:

I'm sorry but I think I would've said the same thing! Why would you keep harping on child ponography? Why not just say pornography or even better "inappropriate material" & leave it at that? Very odd!

Thanks to Coral and Cheryl:yay:
I've got an appointment with the dermatologist tomorrow for a skin cancer check. Let you know how it goes tomorrow:rolleyes1

Good luck!!! :wizard:

I booked a category 4 on the Eastbound Repo today!!! I am so excited to be joining you all....

There were 4's & 5's available for a bit today but they seem to be gone now.

~Ingrid

Yeah welcome!!! I remember reading on the main board that you were hoping for a cat. 4 to open & it did!!! :woohoo:

Thanks Roger, I'm just wondering if I'm going to be able to jam my booze cooler through the scanner.

Me too!

Good Morning Pirates. Sorry I've been off, but real life hit hard. Finally all caught up again.
:bday: to all I've missed.
:welcome: to all I've missed.
pixiedust: to all who need it.
It looks like everyone had a great time at the mini meet this past weekend. Love all of the pictures.
I really can not wait to join in on the fun on the ship.
*** :offtopic: Forewarning Rambling On :offtopic: ***
I don't mean to ramble but I do need to get things off my mind as to what has been happening in life lately.
DS (soon to be 15) (if he makes it) has been getting into trouble in school and at home, he may not be going on this cruise, he has less than 2 months from now to straighten his mess out.
FIL had passed away earlier this month, and now we need to take care of MIL, which she does not get around too good. DH and I hate to even leave her alone while we go to work, we have been looking for nurses to help out but nothing has come out as of yet, the nurses only come for about 2 hours a day, which would be okay, but then what do you do for the other 6 hours until DH or myself gets home. My MIL has fallen quite a few times and can not get up by herself. She refuses to use that alert button that we have tried to get for her. BIL is no help and neither is any other family members that live in the area. You would think that at times like this, they should want to help, without thinking what can I get in return. It just makes me :furious:
With all of this DH didn't really have a nice birthday, so I have to make it up to him.
Okay I think I'm done rambling for now.

I will look into the tastings on the website, maybe whomever is in charge of that task force, you can probably add 2 lushes to your list. I will send a PM as soon as I figure who I need to send to.
Bye for now, I will try to post more often.

Welcome back & sorry you have a lot on your plate right now! Sounds like you'll be needing this TOAL when it comes!

g'mornin' pirate:s

I'd rather plah also if we are formaling on night 2, but 5:30??? Oy! We're used to eating at 8. I thought there was speculation that they wouldn't stagger start times on the repos.

Can you tell DSis to pack sand? Isn't unsolicited advice fun?

ITA with last statement!

As for dining at 8, why don't you come join us traitors! :yay: I know some say that 8 will feel like 11 for us eastcoasters, but we are heading to DL for a few days before the cruise & I think by the time we are on the TOAL, 8 will feel like...well 8! :confused3

The Orange Cty SB built an elementary school over a former munitions base :scared1:
Yes, former munitions firing range. They have dug up so many bombs in the last year it is frightening. Of course they said they are all duds but the news shows like to play the bombs detonating when they blow them up. So much for Duds. Kids can't use the yards anymore.

Wow that took brains huh? Scary stuff!!! :scared:

hi everyone! i haven't been here all week....missed chat last week....feeling outta the loop. gotta go get caught up! hope you are all having a great week so far! can't wait til friday, cuz i'm on a long weekend after that! i took monday off...working tues....and off again on weds! i can't wait!!! i'm in need of a mental health day!!

Hi Shannon! I don't think you missed too much. Start reading & you'll feel loopy in no time! ;)

What is it called when you hear something and then all of a sudden you keep hearing it everywhere?

Just saw this on cnn.com.

Great Web sites when aging parents need help
http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/family/03/20/ep.family.care/index.html

The donut was gone, btw.

Deja vu? ;) Just kidding! I know that's not what you meant, but I have no idea what it's called.

The good news: I get to go on a weeklong boondoggle field trip for work.

The bad news: I will be in Po-dunk, PA at midnight on May 18. :scared1:

The really bad news: DH will have to book Palo/spa

The really really bad news: His first reaction: "Not gonna happen."

Ummm, let's see....I got up at 3 am to get us on the stinkin' cruise, I've done all the research, booked all the excursions, bought the plane tickets, reserved the rental cars (all at relative bargains), I'll make arrangements for the dog, buy everyone's clothes, figure out who's wearing what to dinner each night so we are coordinated but not matchy-matchy, and pack everything except his clothing, but it is too much trouble for him to stay up one night to get us some good Palo & spa times? Hmph.

M I will gladly make your Palo & spa reservations for you...if I can even get in that is. I'll be up anyway so it's really no problem.

That's a great new picture of the kids, Shannon!

BTW....I noticed today that the email your dd sent to Kylie went to my junk mail for some reason, so we hadn't seen it! I don't want you to think she was ignoring your dd. She will email back soon. :)

OK Easter weekend is here for us now, no more work till Tuesday, but we have the weather for Christmas:mad: Snow coming.

Have a good Easter everyone.

That's so funny because I have been thinking of deleting mine, too. I never liked it -- it seemed like it was making fun of me more than anything, and while I know that is sport around here, it requires explaining everywhere else on the DIS and since I've been posting over in the DLRP section lately, it seemed odd.

But I like being part of the cool crowd for once in my life and having a tag, so I have been hesitating.

Maybe we need a 'tag ripping' party.

Took mine off a few months ago!

Hola' Tina!

Please try to take it easy and stay safe with all the snow...

christmas032.jpg

Hi Crash! I like the rabbit one! Actually the other one too. It appeals to my warped sense of humor!

Even though it's sunny and in the 60's here (today), do you want to bet on who gets the last snow of the season? Can't wait until summer!

It is nice and sunny here today, but I had to go to the county jail for an appointment this morning (work related!) and it is on the cold breezy side. Hopefully this is the last one!

Dictate much?

:)

Captain, sounds like insubordination to me? :confused3

You need to set dh straight on his priorties! :lmao:

PM Laurie - MrsScooby to the tastings.

We're all dealing with ST (stinky teens for those that don't know) issues. Most here already know that my DS did not make it on the Transatlantic with me last year. He is really working hard to make it this year. Hang in there, and vent here when you need to.

Have you looked into elderly care for MIL? Around here they have day places, sort of like a kid's day care, but for older folks. It's not a residency program, but just something for them to do during the day. I expect that within a few years we'll be looking for options for my parents. Thankfully my brothers and sister are really good about pitching in.

 to you.... As you may have read...My lovely "might not make it to 15 either" DD is in the same boat. (or off the same boat as the case may be). Right now, I'm not planning on DD joining us. I'm a little sad but as our current counselor says "She didn't earn the right to go."

Purely speculation though...... Although 5:30 pacific time is really 8:30 pm eastern anyway.... So for east coasters probably not bad.

Any other thoughts from Capt's dining.......?

i probably wouldn't mind PC for formal. It's eating at AP on sea days that kills me. (i like windows)

Being a west coaster, 5:30 is awfully early for dinner. But I don't like the idea of PC for formal night. It's a toss up. I'd say just wait it out until we get a true schedule of the nights.

Hey there,
For those of you that are patiently (or not so) waiting for Southwest to extend their schedule. I was talking to a rep today and it will be on April 17th.

My wit often gets me into trouble. I tend to say the things that other people are thinking but don't say. Like at work the other day, we were discussing that the head of our mobile division in EMEA is supposedly leaving to go to Apple. His last name is Fenger, so of course, I had to say "We're giving Apple the Fenger".

I mean, everyone in the room was thinking it. I need to work on my inner monologue.

Hey JR... That was pretty funny .... "the Fenger" ...

What's the problem here? Laptop and hotel internet or wireless card and you can be on at midnight???????

Except it is quite possible that the Po-Dunk Arms otel might not have a internet - we will really be in the middle of nowhere. And I work for a non-profit, so I'll be sharing a room with 2 other people. And we are GPS mapping trails, and I believe we are scheduled to bike 60 miles or so on Monday. I might need to go to bed before 6 a.m.

That's not a very "can do" attitude.

i got a letter from my township yesterday i have to get rid of my baby. my first new car. im going to hate to see it leave. its been off the road a while, its not worth it to fix it up.

Squimish alert!
Well, I did my good citizen bit today & went off to donate my pint of blood with a couple of colleagues. Donated at my usual slow rate & for the first time ever the carer told me not to put on my coat until I'd had my tea & biccie as occassionally there are re-bleeds. Well, I've donated a dozen times before without incident but did as I was told. Went & got my cuppa, looked down to put my tea on the table & noticed my white plaster was red & dripping:scared1: Managed to get back to the carer & all panic seemed to break loose. I was spraying blood like something out of a Tarantino film, they couldn't find the re-bleed pack & I had left a wonderful trail behind me!!! The nurses were good - one of them was even trying to get the blood off my pink Timberland boots:rotfl2: Anyway, I've survived the experience, unlike my jeans (at least they were old) & I'm still booked in for July 3 (unless they decide I'm too much trouble).

No work here tomorrow, instead it's the shopping (I'm cooking Easter lunch for 16) & a trip to the DIY store to look for some wallpaper. I'll use the WB dining info. to help me plan for Palo etc, altho' I realise it may change & if it is just one seating time then the rotation will have a 1 in 3 chance of being correct! I agree that PC is not the most glamorous setting for formal night, but c'est la vie....I'm just happy to be going on TOAL

Have a great Easter & I hope the bunny brins you everything you want!
