Saw that on another site. I knew it was just a matter of time before the rest of the airlines start doing this. Wonder who's next? American probably. Wish I could go ahead and book my flights so that I can avoid the charge, but things are just too uncertain right now.

I sure wish you would get certain:goodvibes

Oh yeah:woohoo: It's payback for all those screaming tantrums in JC Penneys

Ah, yes sweet payback!:woohoo:

Sounds ta me as if Tinas' stirrin' up some craziness here....

Crash, you know I'm innocent!
I like fringe on the bottom of the lampshade. These people look like funnels!

2 thoughts, one - on the website there are links to a couple of companies that do this kind of insurance.

Two- I usually find USAA's rates hard to beat on anything

I agree with Tom (Did I just say that?). I got ours through Access America and for the 2 of us it was about $180.

Hey the treats look great!

Estiri- great t-*****'s!

I'm going to be sorry I read THIS first thing this morning!
I hope it doesn't set the tone for my entire day.
Not even going to start in on how mad that makes me. They charge more than Southwest, and have PLENTY of surcharges and taxes. They limit our carry-ons...and now THIS??

Okay....B R E A T H E .............

Stace, you already bought your tickets so you should be fine this trip!

Just stopping by to say Good Morning. The sun is shining today - puts a smile on my face! :)

It's also a good day because I get to work from home again. Save me lots of money on gas. $3.39 a gallon is killing me. That's money I can use on TOAL.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Penny

Hi Marian, Yes, I would just keep in touch with your TA if you are still hoping to go for a cat 4 . . . the problem I would see is that even if it opens up, the cat 4 will be at the much higher price charged now rather than what it would have gone for the first day . . . but it never hurts to find out how much if it becomes available, since you can always say no. Good luck!

Julie, I thought that DCL gave you the same tier pricing of your original booking?

Not necessarily . . . someone had gotten notice that a higher cat had become available and they said the price was outrageous . . . can't remember if this was on this cruise or another one . . . I suppose DCL might give you the same tier, but I doubt it if they can make more from a new reservation for that same cabin . . . at any rate, Marian can always just find out the price of a cat 4 if it becomes available and decide once she knows the difference.

So do you think its better to buy our tickets before this change is implemented? Or will it affect everyone no matter when they purchased tickets?

Michelle, It looks to be as long as you have purchased your tickets before the change takes effect you should be OK. I know that when Northwest (to LA) and Delta (back home) change theirs, I am going to print them to take to the airport in case they try to charge for the 2nd bags. It's more the charge for a 3rd bag that scares me---I'll probably end up shipping a box to PP.

That does make sense. Always about the $$;)

On how much the airline thinks it can get away with. The pattern so far seems to be to make the announcement about 3 months before the change goes into effect.

The next change will be charging for assigned seats!

Travelling by air is now like being on a bus with wings.

An airline I've flown recently (Jetblue maybe?) is charging extra for the exit row seats.

:thumbsup2 USAA is the best. We always get trip insurance through them since they cover cancelled miliary leave.

I bought my trip insurance when we booked. I thnk I did $8,000 of the 4 of us to cover the non-refundable stuff (cruise & flight). I thought it was a bit over $200, but I could be wrong. That was a year ago!

I sure wish you would get certain:goodvibes

Yeah Monica. We are all certain that you are going!

Glad they had fun. I also love the Lion King show. I want to be the spinnie bird lady if Tinkerbell doesn't work out. I think we are going to eat at Jiko during our Sept. trip. I always hear great things about that restaurant.

One of these days I'll be able to take an adult only trip to WDW. When I do, Jiko is definitely on my list.

I got this email from US Air tonight.

Today, US Airways announced a change to our baggage policy. Beginning May 5, 2008, we'll charge $25 for a second checked bag. The new fee applies to travel on or after May 5 for tickets purchased on or after February 26, 2008.

I would be so upset about this too. We just booked our airfare to LA yesterday, I will have to double check to see if these changes have already affected us. Not to mention that even if it doesn't, depending on who we go with on the way BACK from MCO, it could still affect us anyway.
I love how they word it as better customer service, and making it better for us....whatever!

So do you think its better to buy our tickets before this change is implemented? Or will it affect everyone no matter when they purchased tickets?

Note the large text above, when they implement a change like this, if you have already purchased your tickets BEFORE the change is announced, you don't have to pay the extra fee. I've you've already booked with US Air, you don't have to pay. Any tickets purchased going forward, you will have to pay.

It might be a good idea to book soon on the other airlines, that way you won't have to pay.

I would also suggest printing the announcement from the company's website, highlighting the 'tickets purchased before' date and highlighting on your confirmation the date of purchase. The customer service agents will probably just try to go ahead and charge anyone, but you'll need to remind them that you don't have to pay.

Anyone care to give me an opinion of the below coverage:

Cost would be $362.00

At first glance it sounds pretty reasonable. There was a company that offered coverage for kids free, but I can't remember who right now.

I paid $312 for my trip to the Med last year. That was for 2 people, but my mom is 76 so that drove the cost up a bit. Plus I went with something that covered pre-existing conditions.

I am so right there with you. Unfortunately I am back in the office starting this week after 2 months of working at home. The extra $400 a month I was saving on gas was nice to have. Now its going to be gone again.

BTW still alive... One large thing checked off my TODO list for today.

I am so bummed they are not offering the REAS package. I was hoping to suprise my fiance with it since it will be our Honeymoon.

Aww Friend...you know for the price of one Rum runner...I'll cohort with your cabin steward to put out rose petals and chocolates like they do for the REAS. I'll even bring a tray from the buffet for ya.... (of course we'll have to use silk petals but i've seen those before )

We haven't booked return flights yet (hoping for a good price on SW), so it may affect us on that end of the trip.

SW is already down to 2 bags also :headache:

I think that the contract will be great for DD13 (do they have check-out restrictions for the ST club? :confused3 )

Nope...no check in or out for teen club. They just come and go. My big gripe about the teen club is that i thought many of the events were just way too late for younger teens. Many nights i found dd had just went back to the room and went to bed because she was too tired.
For instance they have a formal night and dance and it was like at 1 or 2 in the am.....

DD can last a little longer now but as she's used to getting up early...She's not much of a night owl.

That got debated back and forth and I don't think we ever got a definitive answer.

They do go off the same tier pricing from your original booking date as long as you aren't changing dates. If you are just going from one category to another for the same sailing date it goes by the original tier
