Wait until your daughter is a little older . . . I went with my 15 year old. Also, I read the book afterwards and thought the book was better, not that the movie wasn't great, but the detail in the book was extraordinary.

The more the merrier, I will take over from Don Ducky Williams in the WDW theater and get a couple of 'Friends' to materialize. For my presentation on DW, However Alice and Stephen ate the experts on the new new series, I know the old series stuff.

I'm pretty sure I already have something else planned for whenever you do this presentation . . .

I passed my Top 200 Drugs test today!!!


It was actually on over 250 drugs, and we had to know what they were used for, starting, typical, and maximum doses, side effects, and interactions. It was pretty stressful, because we need to pass it to be allowed to go on our clinical rotations. So that's one more hurdle over, and that much closer to finishing!

You passed 200 drugs today??? And survived???

NEVER let the kids play with the animals. I took DS out looking because I was thinking of letting him have a dog. Once he played with Freddy it was all over. We've had him for 4 months now.

Yeah, once they are holding the pet there is no turning back . . .

Yes, we're spending the weekend in Lake Geneva as a late Valentine's Day thing. We were SUPPOSED to have a four-day weekend, then in November, our idiot school board moved the in-service day from Tuesday to election day after someone expressed concern that 'child molesters' (seriously) could be in the school on Election Day. So we lost our four-day weekend. Our school board is run by complete idiots.

We had hundreds of albums including the first Beatles Albums and Jimmy Hendricks........although they are now in the possession of my DS.DS has over 3 thousand record albums. H acctually appreciates the older music. I think I brainwashed him.

I meant to tell you (sometimes multiquote does not work) how beautiful your DD is. She is quite a young lady now with the most beautiful hair. Did she take after you???

As for the rest of this thread - WHAT HAPPENED? So quiet - did Cheryl go shopping.

I went to Penney's just one more time. Ony $146.00 for $14.00 this trip. I have saved sooo much money I can now afford another cruise.

OMG! 3 hours to get home tonight.
I travel a whopping 6 miles by car, along your typical major surface street (shopping centers, fast food, etc.) Well, that road was closed tonight due to an accident - both directions. AND all the other routes were insane AND the police weren't letting anyone turn left anywhere. SO I went several miles out of my way in order to turn left, which was necessary to get home. AND it was my night to pick up the boys since DH has class. After-school care closes at 6:15. I got there at 7. And all this before the freezing rain started. DH just went back to his office after class. He may just sleep there.
SO instead of a quick dinner and heading to the gym, we had pizza rolls and chicken fries & now I'm on the couch in my jammies.

Why, oh why, do people live here!
I want to go home.

At any rate, I was going to say nothing for a few days - but earlier today we recieved news that a good friend of ours - roughly our age - one who had surgery a year or so ago to remove a kidney (I think) due to kidney cancer... well, we noticed she had not been hanging around with us much in the past 2-3 weeks... and today we found out that tomorrow she will go in for surgery - they found a cancerous growth in the brain and this is .... bad. I'm not feeling all so hot or happy go lucky today. Not that I'm fishing for sympathy in supporting my playful assertions of innocence. Frankly, it's a thankful escape to be here sometimes cracking jokes and reading everyone elses' banter - and today has been one of those rare days when I could use - or needed a little bit of a diversion.

At any rate, it's so sad since our friend JEAN has a 2 year old boy and husband to survive her if things don't turn around. And we've been rallying with her family to add a few smiles to this year... more so then our usual neighborly friendship over the years. Know what I mean? We knew the odds were not good at all for her survival over 2 years - but it's different when it's happening. At any rate,... I don't mean to be a dampener for others - just it's a sort of sad day for our family.

I have to run now... cheers.

Sorry to hear about your friends Tom. They will be in my prayers. John is a living miracle himself. He had died 19 years ago from his heart attack but brought back to life in the emergency room!!

We were watching the news about all the unclaimed funds and DD decided to look up our names. Turns out I have two that amount to about $500. It seems they sent the checks to a PO box I haven't had in years. I just have to prove I am owed the money and that was my former name and PO Box address. The name part is easy as I have my marriage license, but I only had the PO Box for 6 months while I was going through my divorce because my ex-husband would go through the mail.

Wow that is almost enough to pay for a bar bill on the ship. Congrats on the found money.

I will share an update when reasonable. Thier surgery was scheduled for 11AM but unknown to me it was shifted to 1PM. I was at the hospital this morning and afternoon - it was as one might expect... but good under the circumstances. On the upside - I got a free meal voucher from the waitng room staff - so we had a free lunch in the hospital. < sheepish silent grinnin' >

OK... it seems the community has been a-buzz so I'm gonna take a few minutes to glance through the thread while I transact other chores and business. Yes fer CERTAIN minor chores I CAN multi-task a bit.

For the first time ever, last night the best of show at the Westminster Dog Show was a beagle, Uno:

He was a real beagle, too, baying at the judge . . .

That's probably the reason he won. He showed the most personality of the lot. At that level of competition - that's what it often comes down to. From the perspective of dog-compared-to-the-standard - he could have put any of them up.

I was watching last night to see if DS10's mentor took the breed (he didn't). Then the Weimaraner took the group and I had to stay up late to watch BIS. (Oops, Best In Show)

Hi Laurie! Linus was a rescue puppy, like Roger's recently acquired family member, but he's definitely mainly retriever . . . looks like a solid black golden retriever (the longer hair but solid black). He's about 80 pounds and a real sweetheart.

Sounds like a Flatie. Uh, Flat Coated Retriever. Totally nice dogs, and way smarter than your average Golden.

I would give up just about everything except the Panama Canal part. That was the one main draw for me of the TOAL. (Well that and hanging with you guys)

At least we're in there somewhere.

Honestly, we feel the same - we're going for the Canal.

I'm worried about the dog getting walked
Kelly and I will do most of the dog walking and since neither of us get home until 6:00, it is a long time to make a dog hold it

Have you thought about rescuing an older dog? There are many mixed and pure bred dogs looking for good homes. Nice dogs. Often with known backgrounds.

An older dog wouldn't have any problem holding it all day.

Also, our cat Reebok is out of remission as far as her lymphoma.

We may skip the puppy stage and go for an adult dog partly for that reason.
Darren also prefers the bigger dogs (he grew up with a collie and a german shepherd) so we will probably tend toward the larger bladder-I mean dog- anyway just to appease him

If you need help with identifying a breed - let me know. Glad to help. 20+ years in the dog world is good for something.

Congrats Mike I remember that test and it is nerve racking. At least now you can start sounding like a pharmacist.

I just found out the FDA stopped the manufacturing of one of my drugs. I have been on them for 11 years. I have learned way too much trying to find a good substitute on the internet!!! I now have way to much knowlege cluttering up my brain.

I spent much of Monday with a very good friend that has a very aggressive form of breast cancer. I have mentioned her before. Younger than me. 2 small kids.

It's so hard to see young people suffering with illness. Makes me hug my kids more & justify vacation.
It is so hard to care so much for someone in pain and not be able to alleviate that pain (emotional and physical). I will definitely include your friends in my prayers.


I had a weird "found" money story. I have worked for a very large company for over 16 years. A few years ago I received a letter from my corporate office that made no sense to me. Basically sign this form and we will release funds. To make a very long story shorter- my company had self funded and self insured insurance when my oldest DD was born. When Megan come home from the hospital after 4 months we had 24 hour Pediatric RN's just to make sure she adjusted fine.
Turns out the private nursing company did not cash almost $12,000 worth of payments my company made to them. Since it had been over 10 years, they released the funds to me.
Now for the strange part. We think the reason they did not cash the checks was because one of the nurses (we never found out who) tried to steal us blind. We worked for a long time with the nursing company to find out who it was but never did discover the culprit.
The nurses would go into my DH'd home office at night (instead of watching their charge) and made copies of checks, credit cards etc. Then she dispatched this information so we battled these charges for years. A huge mess. We feel like we earned that $12,000.

You are right that the personality probably did it for the beagle . . . sure had the crowd going, too, and a judge can't help but feel that.

That's pretty much Linus, although a little less lean in shape (he's not fat, just more solid somehow). And he is VERY smart.
