Here, here. I hate snow. Never will I understand why I continue to live in Massachusetts and expect winter to end in February. :confused3 Over the weekend I heard daffordils are blooming in Atlanta; we still have them in June!

Off to shovel!

Marian

Boo for the snow

OMG! I don't know how the first part of my post got posted, while I was still writing it! But it was pretty good for the sake of suspense, wasn't it?

Oh, good. I was afraid you were being a typical guy. :rotfl2:

It's so awesome that you got a spot for CC. I can't imagine a nicer place for a vow renewal.
.

I finally made it to 1000 posts!

And it only took me 4 years. Although well over half of those posts have been on this set of threads in the past year.

So here is my 1000th post story:

Linda and I were looking into renewing our wedding vows at Disney World for our 15th anniversary. All of the options looked incredible, but the timing wasn't good, since it would be just after I graduate and start my full-time job. Plus it was really stinkin' expensive for what we wanted to do.

wedding1.jpg

So then I had the brilliant idea of renewing our vows while on the TOAL. I figured the boys and I will have tuxedo rentals anyway, and the girls needed dresses for formal night. So, with visions of a romantic renewal on formal night, I made my call to Disney's Fairytale Weddings.

The girl that I talked to checked her computer and found out that every vow renewal slot for our cruise was already booked. Once we decided to do the vow renewal, we were really looking forward to it, so we were disappointed.

Then I got the idea to call back and ask to be put on a waitlist. Since she wasn't sure if there was such a thing, I got put on a waitlist to be called back to see if I could be put on a waitlist.

Then I waited.

And waited.

Linda and I went to lunch a few days later. Linda mentioned how nice it would have been to renew our vows on the ship or on Castaway Cay. That's when it clicked that I only asked about onboard renewals, and not Castaway Cay. So when we got home, I made Linda call to ask. (I figured they were sick of me calling by this point)

Surprisingly, the vow renewal on Castaway Cay was still open!!!!! We booked it right then and there! So we're renewing our vows on Castaway Cay at the end of our Trip Of A Lifetime! What a memorable way to end a fantastic trip.

That is so romantic! Congrats!

Well that was suspenseful but I'm so glad you got the exciting news! :cool1:

I don't know why I live here either! :headache:

1. Toe cleavage, yes or no?

2. (From last weeks chat) If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

3. What are three things we would be surprised to hear you never got around to, ever, on your disney cruise?

4. (Inspired by M and her dream to be Tinkerbell) What disney charater would you want to live the life of ? Not walk around the parks dressed as, live the life of.

5. If all expenses were paid, which would you choose: the Grammys, the Oscars or the Nick Kids Choice Awards.

6. If you could go back in time, just once, where would you go and who would you meet up with?

7. When you're thinking about your disney cruise (instead of working) what is your defining vision?

1) Toe cleavage? Gee... I don't think so.

2) I would simply want to be SUPERMAN ... it's as simple a collection of super powers with ONE Kryptonian weakness.

kennysia_superman.jpg

3) I've never dipped into the adult pool, nor have I done the dining room tour. And I've yet to have one of those spa thallosso treatments rendered by Minnie Mouse.

4) I would simply like to be Rodger Rabbit. That way I can engage in the eternal pursuit of that oh so pursuable Jessica!

jess.jpg

5) I'm a Grammy's sort of fellow.

200px-GRAMMY1.jpg

6) I'd like another day with my Mom before she became ill. I wanna let her know I will marry Alicia - then I'd like to elope on the spot and bring my Mom along fer the service. Alicia took my mothers' wedding ring and it was something she sort of wanted me to do (marry Alicia - but she never saw it) . Long story - best left for retelling in detail in person (maybe) ...So, that's it fer now.

7) As someone else recanted - ours runs back the clock to our first cruise on Disney ... however ours' came when we were wandering the upper deck on embarkation. THe sailaway party was getting underway and our daughter (then 2.5) was really excited already and then she spotted Mickey dancing on deck and she began to gyrate wildly and scream "it's Mickey, It's Mickey ... MICKEY!!!!!!". My spouse and I simply looked at one another and our mutual smiles said we were irresistibly sold ... for LIFE.

You're not participating in the Rugby tournament are you? You don't want to show up at your vow renewal (I almost typed vowel renewal -- I guess a, e and i are used a lot and need to be renewed, but o and u, not so much) with a black eye and a bloody nose.

That's for AFTER the reception.

With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is
worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went
unnoticed last week.

Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote 'The Hokie Pokey' died peacefully at the
age of 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the
coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.

Shut up. You know it's funny. Now send it on to someone else and make them smile.

OK...I just got this e-mail and had to share. It's sick and twisted, so of course I laughed.

:lmao: :rotfl2: I must be a bit sick and twisted too cause it made me laugh too:lmao:

amazing, how the sell us for life.
forgot all about roger rabbit

Sorta work. IMHO, if the dress has a back, stick with a regular strapless. Although they are the only thing I've found to wear with backless dresses.

And removal is just as lovely as you might think.

I got purple because cranberry doesn't go with sunburn.

Saw a very inventive bra on Rachael Ray yesterday. It's designed for backless clothes. Doesn't work with strapless, only backless. Won't post a pic, but you can see it here http://www.maidenform.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=71471&wtlCategory=Search
They had an audience member try it on and she was really surprised how well it supported since she was well blessed.

Ouch:headache: Now I know to avoid any backless dresses

Good thinking:thumbsup2

I'm so sorry about your Mom Crash!

That was a beautiful way to express the feelings you & your wife had when seeing your DD jumping for joy over Mickey! Sadly so many people go on vacation together whether it be Disney, cruise, resort, or camping, and never learn to appreciate that precious second in time with their loved ones. :lovestruc

I think we could only afford the vowel renewal. How much do you think they charge for something like that? :confused3

Hey Diane

How ya dealin with the snow? My program was open this week but we were let out early due to impending snow....

(what's up with the whole buying milk and bread stuff????you have to buy the good stuff..chips, chocolate, cake..and rum???)lol

Chrissie

Aye, the rum

Glad they were safe Andrew!

I'll keep you updated, but they are saying that it's a level 1 situation meaning it's not that severe, and they think they should still be able to land on the landing gear. They did a fly by & the tower says it looks like the gear is down but not sure if it's locked. They are being cautious by closing the airport & bringing out all the emergeny equipment.

Haven't had the TV on all day, so I didn't even know about this. But, my first thougt, how come it wasn't played out live like the Jet Blue flight that had the landing gear stuck? I remember watching that plane fly and then land in LA. Did they show this one flying or just check it out on the fly by?

Tried that originally but I think the only reason I got it was I had just pre-ordered the 2208 guide. I will search on Passporter and see if it finds it.
Thanks for the suggestion

OMG....I knew we had some serious pre-planners on this cruise, but 2208??????:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Do you know of a fountain of youth that you are not sharing??? How are you going to be able to take a cruise when you're 200+ yrs old?

Dh and I were just looking through the DCL excursions for Cartagena, and found this one which might be quite interesting, but not very suitable for kids.

Dh thinks it is a deal for only $49! :lmao:

City Drive, Shopping and La Popa
Experience the magic of Cartagena during a sightseeing tour of the Convento de la Popa and the Bocagrande, and shop till you drop in Las Bovedas and the Pierino Gallo Mall.

Surrender to a spectacular backdrop of sweeping countryside as you embark on a relaxing, air-conditioned motor coach drive from the pier to the historic city center of Cartagena. During your trip, discover the fascinating history and culture of this picturesque seaport from your friendly guide and marvel at the ornate mansions at buildings of the famous "Manga" residential district. Following your 15-minute drive, arrive at the Convento de la Popa, situated high on the hillside overlooking the city and harbor, and marvel at the breathtaking views that surround you in every direction. Over 400 years old, the Convento de la Popa is a monastery that was built on the age-old grounds where local Indians and fugitive black slaves used to meet, and is arguably Cartagena's top scenic destination. Following your 20-minute visit, journey to the famous dungeons of Las Bovedas, which were originally built in the late 18th century as a means for storage despite the name, and sightsee and shop amidst the many handcraft boutiques and stores that now fill the area.

After your 20-minute shopping spree, embark on a 15-minute drive to the famed walled city and marvel at the plethora of colonial buildings and age-old fornications around every corner. Make your way to the modern residential area known as Bocagrande, home to vast array of hotels, shops, eateries, night clubs and art galleries, and snap a picture of the long stretch of sun-kissed sand and breathtaking blue water in the distance. Finally, travel to the Pierino Gallo Shopping Center, and soak up the local flavor as you indulge in a bit of shopping amidst some of the finest gold, emerald and handcraft retailers in the city. After your hour-long visit, sit back and relax as you begin your 30-minute return trip back the ship.

OMGoodness....they are around EVERY CORNER! I thought this was a family cruise!! :rotfl2:

my kind of excursion :thumbsup2

On a camera alert - went to two Targets - one was out of the camera and one still had the $259. price on it. I posted (I know - bad) Monica's post to another thread and someone in L.A. got one.

You should have had them scan it. It was probably clearanced but just never got the sign changed.

Mini Meet at Star Wars at Franklin Institute, Philly :darth:

A while back we talked about a mini meet at this exhibit.
I just looked on line for tickets for Saturday, April 12th. There were lots of tickets for all am & pm time slots.
Ticket prices are 20.50 adults, 15.50 age 4-11, 16.50 seniors.

April 12th works for me, so does April 26th. We stand a better chance of good weather in April.

For all who are still interested, lets pick a date & time.

may the force be with you.
