I had to run into work to get Wednesday off as it is the day she is having her operation. I was able to do it in 2 increments. the last of my personal and floating holiday. So now I don't have to worry about calling in sick and getting in trouble. So I am going to head back to the house. I havene't heard from Cheryl. Maybe I'll give her a call on the way home;)

Wow Stace, I was wondering what he could've made. I hope it is the end of your troubles. Hope your foot is getting better.

Speaking of Cheryl, saw a blurb on the news this morning that an Amtrak train was stuck in the snow. I immediately thought of Cheryl, but turns out the stuck train was here in CA.

Hi Everyone! Happy groundhogs day! I sure wish we would get an early spring, but given the way this winter has gone, I doubt it

My Disney gift card arrived today! I still can't believe that I actually won $50 just going to a chat :thumbsup2 I'm trying to decide if I should go to DisneyShopping.com and spend it or save it to spend on the TOAL...

Both the kids around here (DS8 and DH! :lmao: ) have needed a lot of attention today, so I have just caught up here! They are finally quietly occupied watching TV. I'm not feeling too guilty, they are glued to a history of the great wall of China. DS gets totally caught up in shows like this and is probably going to be demanding books about China from the library this week. I sure wish there were more non-fiction books written at a 3rd/4th grade reading level! There are really, really simplistic things and stuff that is way beyond him - never anything that is just right.

My kids are both doing the 1 pm zipline, so they should be able to cheer each other on.

I put a note in the little comment box that we were with a large group from DCL and would really love to be able to go with everybody at 1:00 if at all possible. I would really like to do that because, like Enna said, I know a bunch of pirate kids will be there and can give each other some support to go through with it. If not, then it's my fault for waiting so long, but at least we should still be able to get in for 2:00. I'll be sure to post when I hear back from them.

Mike - I hope you get into the 1pm time - there are a TON of kids with all of us. My DS8 is THRILLED to be doing this. He did a zipline last month as part of a ropes course (walking over logs, ropes, etc all way up in the air) and talked DH into doing this excursion (I am staying on the ground as an "observer"). As Enna mentioned, there are her kids. I belive that Tom's 2 boys (Tom31b) and Lisa's kids (Radioclash) are also doing this. I'm pretty sure I've seen others mentioned also, but these are the ones I can remember. I'm sure they will all be able to egg each other on! My DS is very small and geeky looking (in a good way!) so I suspect that when the other kids see him all excited to do it, they will figure "if that little kid can do it, then I can"! :rotfl:

In my list I previously gave, I forgot about Tony Romas. It's been about 20 years since I've eaten at this one, but it doesn't really get many good reviews, at least from what I've seen on the DL boards.

By the way, the others I've listed are not walking distance, but a short cab ride away. Or you could even get there on the ART (Ananheim Resort Transportation) since there are hotel stops right near all the restaurants. The only one I'm not sure of is The White House.

Thanks Monica..Your list gives me a few more to look at! We definately are doing Blue Bayou.....

In the park or out?

The Blue Bayou inside the pirates ride can't be beat for ambiance. Napa Rose at the Grand Californian is also nice for a special occaision. In Downtown Disney you've got ESPN Zone (a must do if he's a sports fan), House of Blues, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen, Tortilla Jo's....all very good in my opinion.

As for what's nearby, there's plenty of chains, Mimi's Cafe, Outback, Red Robin, Buca di Bepoo, Joe's Crab Shack, Morton's Steakhouse, The White House (you can get a cheap gift certificate on restaurant.com). There's also a Mideval Times and a pirate dinner show nearby.

How far is Joe's Crab Shack from Hojo's? Can we walk it? Easy cab ride?

I found two $25.00 Landry's GCs left over from our last WDW trip. I'll earn two more from mypoints.com by the end of June. Since Tyreak can eat his weight in crabs, I figure we can use them to splurge at Joe's.

Here's a link to the menu if anyone want's to see it.

Individualized Education Plan - the state has a responsibility to provide a "free and appropriate" education to all students. If the student's disabilities require special services, they have to provide it. My son can not learn in a large classroom and he can not handle switching classes all day. There is a program at a different middel school in the area that is less than 20 kinds and they have the same teacher all day long. Just waiting for all the paperwork to be done so he can start.

Hello Monica, I am not in the exact situation that you are in because my son is much yonger, but I am also in the midde of getting an IEP for my DS8. The school gave me a copy of his IEP over a week ago and I must sign it by Feb 6th. He goes to an after school tutoring company, so I am getting them to review it too. Anyways, I just want to let you know that I can sort of relate to what you are going through.

Good for you. As I look back now, I wish I had started sooner. But I was really resistant because I didn't want him labeled. I think it could have saved us some heartache though.

Looks like a little under 2 miles LaTanya. Probably a cab ride.

You the kid getting his science project confiscated by the Scottsdale Police Department and his Dad being threatened with 25 years for the federal offense of letting him build said science project.

WHat did he build? a bomb or something?

Kinda like when DD wanted to test dog or cat saliva for germs vs humans...The person at the SPCA said that stuff in cat saliva that can grow will kill humans...NICE

5520 will be a great room -- I had 5020 on the Med cruise and 5528 on the Med repo . . .:thumbsup2
Andy, I've got 5520 on the Podcast cruise :woohoo:

I sailed in 5520 in Dec 2006 on the Magic. It's a great room Andy and i'll be sailing in it for the TOAL (as luck would have it because i didn't ask for that room specifically)

If you need any pictures, let me know. Maybe i can try to leave you guys a note. Think it will be there after another year and drydock?

That sounds like a wonderful program! Hope all works out well for him.

It's a long walk, not one I would want to do....I like to save my walking for the parks! Its a short cab ride, or ART which is the Anaheim Resort Transit, $3 per person, per day, but be sure to by it at the hotel. If you buy from the driver its $3 one way.

Joe's is down at the bottom of the map, across the street from Target.

He made two "silencers" for a gun. :sad2: Apparently, it's not illegal to own one, use one, or buy one...but it IS illegal to MAKE one without a permit.
Who knew?? :confused3 But his teacher told him he could do it, so as far as we're concerned, she's the responsible party. If anyone's going to jail (but no one is) it would be her.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Stacey, no one can ever accuse you of having a boring life, that's for sure.

Hi!
trying to ketchup after a week of crazy boys & girls club stuff....

So happy to hear of your good news! I'll be thinking good, positive thoughts for you on the 15th & if you're comfortable with the choices then they are the right ones.
Penny

Thanks, Penny, I appreciate that. I forgot all about you last week, sorry. :headache: I will call HoJo's for you Monday.

We're driving over from Phoenix in a van large enough for 5 women and their luggage...but I'm not sure when we'll return it...before dinner or after.
I'd planned on going to the Ports Of Call Village...it's pretty there. And I think (not 100% sure) we can get transportation from the hotel to it.

Are using Enterprise? They are the only rental car company that has an office at both Long Beach and the pier. Then I heard they were closed on Sunday and I sort of have dropped the ball on researching it.

I really need to get back into planning mode for this cruise.

Is DL restaraunts like WDW's where you have to make your reservations in advance or you won't get in on stand by?

Too funny, I thought of her right away also.

Thanks for the report, sounds great!!!

I think between drydock and sailing 14 months later, chances are the note would probably be found before we got in the cabin. Unless, maybe if it was put in the room safe under the little mat that sits in the safe. Want to give it a try??? ;) ;) ;)

Good for you. As I look back now, I wish I had started sooner. But I was really resistant because I didn't want him labeled. I think it could have saved us some heartache though.

I understand about resistance but what is important is that you are doing it now and getting him the help he needs. My son has a 504 plan which is a step down from an IEP. It basically is a plan in which certain classroom accomodations are made to enhance my son's learning. A couple of things that are on his 504..........he gets to take his major exams in a classroom with no other children to disturb him, any written assignments that are one paragraph or longer can be typed instead of handwritten (for the sanity of the teacher!). There are many others but after almost 2 years in middle school he is still on the honor roll all A's and B's so I know its helping him. I see his confidence soaring more now and he wants to do his work now. He won't admit it but I think he is enjoying school more now too.

Thanks, Monica. I'll need to hit Target. Since the TSA decided that you can't carry lithium batteries in your checked bags and you can only hcarry them in the devices they go in, I'll have to get some when we get to CA. What a pain, but I guess that they can combust and cause a fire.

DD has an IEP for language arts and she is really flurishing being in a small group setting. She is with 6 other the graders and the teacher is really making a difference. Hang in there!

.

Not exactly.
You will need reservations for Blue Bayou and any character meal (Ariel's Grotto in DCA, Goofy's Kitchen at the DL hotel, Storyteller's at the Grand California, and Minnie and Friends at DL). The Downtown Disney restaraunts are easy to get into. And there really aren't much more table service places in the parks.

Maybe we can all leave notes on a moderate size sheet of paper and have have Kristina hide it?
