Did anyone listen to this week's podcast?

First - they reiterated that the old long threads were coming back, just divided up into min-threads.

Second - (I may not have all the details correct, I was attempting to work at the time). New threads are going to be locked at 250 pages. So that is what? 3750 posts. I can't remember exactly how many posts we had on thread #1, but we'd have somewhere in the ballpark of 23-24 threads at this point! :rotfl:

Hmm....seems as if I missed the morning rush and now I'm here talking to myself.

No worries.

I'm supposed to be working. I just can't get into it. Ever since they switched me to a new positon last April, I've felt like I'm just floundering. I still haven't gotten the hang of it. Surprisingly on my annual review I was rated as meeting expectations. I fully expected to be working under par.

I suppose I should be thankful to have a job. If this position hadn't been found for me, I would have been laid off. But I hate it and there's no other open position that appeals to me.

Guess I'll just keep plugging along until something else comes up. My boss did mention to me yesterday that my old group has hinted at wanting me back and this is something we can look at possibly mid year. So there is hope.

Sorry, just a small moment of feeling sorry for myself.

Now back to our regularly scheduled chit chat.

Evening.

Good question - anyone have an answer? Especially for Cartagena

See my answer above about the Mexican Riviera -- I would guess Cartegena would be more likely to want the peso since it sees fewer American tourists. Here's a link to a discussion:

Don't know if someone else answered, because I'm catching up...but they WILL take US dollars everywhere and credit cards in the stores. There's a good chance that you'll be given change in pesos, though.

The approved shopping areas take dollars no problem, but smaller shops may give change in local currency, So keep smaller bills with you for small purchases, only use credit cards in approved large retailers to ensure they are not cloned.

Previous page had 14 posts on it so 250 x 14.= 3500, Your estimate of 3750 is good as the post per page average is just under 15.

So are we going to have a rota to start of the thread, parts 3.4.5.6.7.8.9?

So then this thread is 1/2 done.

You should have seen me do the rope swing in ...oh heck, where were we? I want to say Antigua......I didn't "swing"....I took one feeble step out, and just slid off the rope.
Mark another thing off my list that I never have to do again.

I saw that somebody beat me to asking you about the Jolly Pirate cruise in Aruba! Are you going?

Either sounds pretty good to me!:goodvibes

And tomorrow is the 1st "birthday" of this cruise . . . not of the thread, of course, but of the day we booked the cruise . . . I'm pretty sure that is the first day I posted, as well, once I had heard back that I had a reservation. I think I had lurked a bit but didn't want to post until I was confirmed. That could be wrong, but I have no way to go back and check, so I'll stick to that story!:thumbsup2

I was in class on the 31st last year. I ran to the computer lab between every class looking for an e-mail from Dreams to see if I got onboard. I first saw it show up on the DCL site that our ressies were transferred to the TOAL! I waited to see what the cost was to make sure we were going before I posted the following day. If I remeber correctly, the thread was already over 500 pages by then!!!!

For those who want to listen, its about 70 minutes into the podcast

GrandmaChris & other non-DCL-Cartegena-folks:
I totally forgot that one of our friends was stationed in Cartegena a few years ago. DH just sent him this e-mail:

Speaking of Cartagena....
We're taking a cruise this coming summer and have a port call there.
We'd like to do a walking tour of the old city and perhaps a bit of shopping. Do you have a recommendation of who to go with? Safety first and all that stuff.
Thanks,
*sk8ingdad*

I'll keep you posted.

So then this thread is 1/2 done.

...or 1/2 begun. All depnds on if you are a pessimist or an optimist. :)

Oh, my DH is going to love this!

:rotfl2:

15 years? Whereabouts do you live? :confused3
I live in Boise, Idaho. You would think that we would have more snow here than we do, and we get it, but it has never really been enough to close school. Usually when it does snow, it snows and then melts, snows and melts. I do not think we have had this much snow for many years.
The ski resorts and skiers sure have been happy!
