Yep...they looked at all of our passports, too. The only thing we could begin to think was that they weren't in the mood to hurt Americans....:confused3 I'm just glad. The whole time we were standing on the side of the road (a very narrow dirt path through the jungle) I just kept thinking that no one would ever even find our bodies, and my parents & Megan (the only kid we had at the time) would never know what had happened to us.

That entire trip was quite the experience, to say the least. We were actually staying in Belize and the trip to Tikal (Guatemala) was just a day thing.

NOW.....WHO WANTS TO GO ON A JUNGLE TOUR WITH ME IN COLOMBIA???
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Wow, Stacy, that does sound scary --- and I think I'll pass on doing a tour with you, though . . .

That is daylight robbery! I've decided to ditch clothes for the cruise & instead pack by bags with British delicacies to include biscuits & chocolate - make a huge killing & retire to DCL on the profit:rotfl:

Celestine

That could work, you know . . . :lmao:

Are you suggesting I'm not one of those "BIG STRONG GUYS"?

Just for the record, this is one of them lean and youthful "Strong Guys" photos...

The IMAGE at top was AFTER I started working out at this gym called "Chippendales"

Funny how at "the Gym" they pay ME to "work out"....

Wow, thanks for that picture, Crash -- I now see you in a whole new light . . .:lmao:
So earlier today my enitre family looked at me like I had six heads when I mentioned that I would love to do the PV zipline, but no one would go with me.

Whatever gave me that idea? I couldn't convince anyone to do any of the zip lines with me at Olympic Park in Salt Lake City this summer. NOW, they want to zip line. So Yay!

WARNING:
THIS IS AN ACTUAL, REAL, HONEST TO GOODNESS CRUISE-RELATED QUESTION!

Can someone direct me to the non-DCL, kids-allowed zip line tour that I ignored when it came up a few weeks ago?

Thanks.

I see that you got the answer later on -- I hope you get to go!

Good evening everyone!

ANYWAY....I wanted to volunteer to design..I guess I will call them credentials(?) a tag in our Dis green...with our logo and maybe our screen and real names? I would be happy to do this.....something to be hung on a lanyard..or backpack???

Let me know.........

Chrissie

Sounds great to me! It's nice to have lanyards that identify us as part of the group . . . or a tag to be hung on whatever we are carrying . . .

I feel a bit like a stranger again! I spent about 20 minutes going through the first 12 pages of this new thread and then I speed to the last 12 pages of this thread for the next 20 minutes. I am so far behind! HELP!!!!!!!!!!
I am the over planner. I already booked shore excursions in Cabo, Puerto Vallarta and Aruba. In Cabo we are doing the Zip line tour with cabosanlucastours.net. In Vallarta we are doing the Dolphin Swim Adventure at sea life park (we tried to book the tour at the same place Disney has their booking, but they are not taking any other reservations). Finally we booked the Natural Pool Jeep Tour in Aruba. I love feeling organized. If anyone has any ideas for Cartagena we would love to be included.
I turn 40 in October and my husband and I were booked on a the first Caribbean sailing of the new HAL Eurodam. The cruise has just been cancelled so now my husband and I are planning to go to WDW for our first time without kids. I think I am more excited about this than I was about the HAL Cruise. We will finally have a chance to go to the Food and Wine festival. We could never do this with kids. What a great year! 200 days today until we leave for LA.

Which day do you leave for LA? I'm wondering when 200 days is for me . . . Welcome, by the way!

OMG! Yoru gone for a few months and stuff happens. LOL Just wanted to drop by and found things were all gone. Then when I went to post - DIS was not accepting my password. Had to log off

Hi Laura! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc Nice to hear from you again . . .

Hi Laura! :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc Nice to hear from you again . . .

Hi Julie - sorry - had some stuff happen - but I was skimming and caught Grandma Chris note about getting some independent tours up - if you guys go that - please keep me in mind - I/we are more than likely doing the West Coast on our own - been there - done that and can speak the language - plus you get to move on your own pace - but while I don't want to go alone on Aruba and Cartegena - would love to be with some others. Keep me in mind - please????? I'll tell DH he has to be on his best behaviour!

:rotfl2:

(And I'll try also!) :thumbsup2

I missed it since I had to take DS8 to his Cub Scout Pinewood Derby - it came on about 2 minutes after we left the house. DH saw it and said they only used a small bit of what they recorded of him. He also said it was a good plug for Kiva, so I think he is happy with it. I'll watch it tomorrow and try and tape it (I'm not very good with the VCR - please don't laugh - I have a MS degree in Computer Science and can do all sorts of stuff with other gadgets - I'm just VCR challenged!)
Pamela (pdarrah)

Thanks for the phone call!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Dan looked very relaxed and he is a star in my eyes!!:goodvibes I never heard of Kiva but I am planning on visiting their web site soon!!:flower3:

BTW - I mentioned in Chat last night that the heavy rain here caused our garage/storeroom to flood and the emergency sirens/ermergency message on TV warned those near the creek in our town and the town next to us needed to evacuate.
So Update - storeroom is a mess - creek waters subsided - emergency over. However, more heavy rain expected tomorrow - have no idea how to keep the water out of garage.
Also, I'm delaying my trip to L.A. until this series of storms are gone. Saw a couple of bad accidents on the streets around here and am not going to take chances on the highways during storms.

Chris sorry about the flooding!!:sad2: Have a safe trip.

When I get some definitive information back from him. I will be happy to share. This is the email I sent him and his response back.

This is a copy of the email I sent and his reply. I sent him back--no mobility issues and maybe a few would be interested in emerald shopping, but most probably in regular souv. I'll keep you informed about the progress. I used 24 as a number where I thought we would be able to get the best rate.Paula

I believe that in 7 hours (10-5) you should be able to do both. Let me find
out what options are now available for Baru and beach type things, figure
out the lunch possibilities, and then work it into a full day tour with the Old
City as well.

Are there going to be any (all?) of the group that will want emerald and
higher-end shopping options? Only souvenirs?

Also, are there any mobility issues with anyone that I should take into
cosideration?

I did not even realize that Disney was going to have a ship arriving in
Cartagena in the normally "off" month of August. Let me work on this a bit
and get back to you.

Lee Miles
Cartagena

So when I get an itinerary back and costs it will be easier to say yes you would be interested. And I am sure that he would be delighted to have a group larger than 24. Chris said that she would help me. :goodvibes

Chat was right!!!! There was some real information yesterday!!!:lmao: Please keep us informed too!!!:goodvibes

Yes, In fact World Market carries them as well. They had a sale right before the Sept Mini meet here and I bought some for Cheryl. I think they go for around 3.50.

And I ate all of them in less than a week!!!

I don't want you to be on any behavior other than your usual! :thumbsup2

And you are always kept in mind :lovestruc but it is possible that you may have missed an opportunity to sail on the Jolly Pirates ship with a bunch of us in Aruba -- contact Goofyonthehighseas (Roger) and see what he knows about availability on our ship. Their website is

http://www.jolly-pirates.com/

and a bunch of us have already reserved the 9 AM tour on our day in Aruba.

The tour in Cartegena is still in very early planning stages, and I will be sure to keep you posted on that.

I hope whatever stuff has kept you busy has not been too bad -- PM me if you want to talk . . .

How creative did you get?

Disney World at Easter Break and at Christmas........ We will be stacking pennies together for the Easter trip, has to be done, I'm in cold weather He**..........Now if only gas would come down !!!! :worship:

Tomorrow would have been a good day for her to fly back. They are calling for mostly sunny and high of 47*. Much better than the single digits we had last week!

How are all of her plans going?

As long as the weather is nice enough for her to fly in...no ice or blizzards! She said yesterday when it was in the 70's here, that she didn't want to go home!

Everything is really falling into place. All the dresses are chosen, and today we sat and made the bridesmaid's bouquets. I used to be a florist, so I got roped into that.
Now to make hers....but I need much more time and thought for hers.

Good evening everyone!

Today was such an awesome day! I got to talk to 2 of my favourite members of Duran Duran!!!!! There was an acoustic intimate concert..I WAS THERE!!!  I was the one and only audience question!!!!It was so cool!

ANYWAY....I wanted to volunteer to design..I guess I will call them credentials(?) a tag in our Dis green...with our logo and maybe our screen and real names? I would be happy to do this.....something to be hung on a lanyard..or backpack???

Chrissie Design Away !!! Maybe we can wear them for the DL meet I'm supposed to be plannin.........PM me if you have any questions !!!

I didn't say that....Andrew did. (why did that just sound like a little kid tattling on her brother??)

Now this is funny. :lmao: :lmao: I will have to play groundhog later.:thumbsup2

It's come down about 15 cents a gallon around here over the last week - hopefully it will continue on this downward trend.

Are you really going to brave WDW at Christmas?:worship: :worship:

OOOH! OOOH! Looks like DH and I will be making a three-day weekend trip to WDW in September, sans kids. LOOK AT THIS!!

WeblogoChallenge4c.jpg

THE COURSE: MYSTERIOUS Race through the dark, exotic terrain of Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park on a thrilling 5K trek in the shadows of the Forbidden Mountain.

THE OBSTACLES: INTENSE The adrenaline is pumping and the anticipation builds as teams (trekkers) prepare for their expedition. Surprises along the way may pose as obstacles on the team's trek.

THE SEARCH: LEGENDARY There are plenty of clues to lead them on their journey, but only a few will escape the Yeti, known as the abominable snowman! The team needs to earn all of the stamps in their Expedition Passport to conquer the challenge!

THE REWARD: FUN Then the real excitement begins as the teams celebrate their finish at an exclusive after-hours party at Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park.

If you have what it takes to conquer this challenge, then find a teammate and join the trek! The challenge and the party will be twice as much fun!

The race is the day before F&W starts! We're going without the kids!

That sound fun. Seems like it will be more of a treasure hunt than a flat out run. I probably won't be able to make any trips after TOAL though.

Sounds great:thumbsup2
I sometimes have a hard time remembering people's real names:rolleyes1

Um.....may be a dumb question but does anyone know if when the boards were revamped - did they reset all settings? For some reason - I lost all my threads saves. Now I hve to hunt down everything. Oh woe is me - that should teach me to stay away for so long! But glad I found you all again!

I had to hunt mine down (what was left of them) and re-subscribe too. Don't know why that happened....I'm not technologically advanced enough to understand.:confused3

It is pouring BUCKETS here!! Wow. The creek is already majorly flooded....it could be a while before we're out.

Hello, Pirates!

We had a family crisis so I was off for a while. Did we ever reveal the identity of the Secret Mickeys? I have been concerned that my second package did not arrive.

No reveals that I know of. At least I know I never revealed myself.

Take care of the family. Lord knows I know how difficult those family crisises can be. If you need an escape, we'll be here.

Congrats on meeting the band.

Sounds like a great Task Force item. Go ahead an head it up. As far as I kow we haven't had anyone talk about this sort of thing. We've talked about lanyards and bracelets, but not anything else.

I thinking about booking a flight with Southwest on Sept 1 to LAX. I'm not very familiar with airline booking in general or have I flown many carriers. Currently the site says they are not booking past 03AUG. Does anyone know when the next booking range will open up? Also, I understand no seats are assigned with Southwest. Is getting seats together an issue, if we are at the board gate prior to boarding time. I don't mind if the four of us are not together. But, DH and a kid and I and kid would be preferred. I've heard some airlines (AirTran for example) tend to move their schedules around. Does Southwest do this? My concern is I also have to book a flight from LA back upto Canada. That flight will be with airmiles and will be booked separately from the other flight. Any thoughts on Southwest would be appreciated.

Thanks.

PS. The snow seems to have stopped for now. :goodvibes

No strangers here. Just long lost friends. Jump back in when you can.
There's been some talk about a historical tour of Cartegena but no firm plans yet.

All my saved threads are there, except any thread that had over 10,000 posts. Those are all gone. They said they would return them and they were just going to be gone for a 24 hour test, but we haven't seen the return of our orignal yet.
