Are you really going to brave WDW at Christmas?:worship: :worship:

If you have done to WDW enough that you don't feel you need to do tons of rides every day, Christmas is a wonderful time to visit -- not too hot and beautifully decorated, lots going on . . .:thumbsup2

I thinking about booking a flight with Southwest on Sept 1 to LAX. I'm not very familiar with airline booking in general or have I flown many carriers. Currently the site says they are not booking past 03AUG. Does anyone know when the next booking range will open up? Also, I understand no seats are assigned with Southwest. Is getting seats together an issue, if we are at the board gate prior to boarding time. I don't mind if the four of us are not together. But, DH and a kid and I and kid would be preferred. I've heard some airlines (AirTran for example) tend to move their schedules around. Does Southwest do this? My concern is I also have to book a flight from LA back upto Canada. That flight will be with airmiles and will be booked separately from the other flight. Any thoughts on Southwest would be appreciated.

Thanks.

PS. The snow seems to have stopped for now. :goodvibes

Southwest doesn't change their schedules as much as other airlines.
When you check in you'll be assigned a boarding group. Most likely you will all be in the same group. So when you're group is called, you all line up then board together. If a few of you end up in the next boarding group then the first people on can save seats for the others. Even though SW technically doesn't allow seats to be saved, you'll be okay.

We've done it during the season (early December) but there is NO WAY that DH would deal with the crowds at Christmas/New Years.

Which day do you leave for LA? I'm wondering when 200 days is for me . . . Welcome, by the way!
We leave for LA on August 14th - we have a disney count down calendar in our bedroom that we change everyday. It is actually a Disney Christmas count down calendar (with four little blocks), but we have always used it for trips.

We just flew with Southwest at the beginning of the month. It was our first time since they switched to their new boarding procedure. You get assigned a number according to when you check in online. (You can check in online beginning exactly 24 hours prior to the flight departure time.) Then everyone lines up by number and boards the plane in that order. I think they hold back the earliest numbers for people who purchased their business class tickets, and they allow pre-boarding for families with kids 4 and under. So the trick to being able to board fairly early, other than having another child, is to check in as soon as possible once the 24 hour window is open. You could do it from onboard the Magic, and print your boarding pass. Or you can have someone else that you trust check in for you using your confirmation number. Then just get a boarding pass printed out at the airport when you check your bags.

We're fairly recent Southwest converts. We flew 4 or 5 times and they didn't change our flight schedule at all for those flights.

I feel a bit like a stranger again! I spent about 20 minutes going through the first 12 pages of this new thread and then I speed to the last 12 pages of this thread for the next 20 minutes. I am so far behind! HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I am the over planner. I already booked shore excursions in Cabo, Puerto Vallarta and Aruba. If anyone has any ideas for Cartagena we would love to be included.

Hi - Paula (PBader) is checking into a private tour in Cartagena and I'm keeping a list of those interested. Added you!!

Wow! So we are under 200 days since we leave for California on August 9! That makes it seem much closer than counting by the number of months. The count down calendar sounds like something my girls would love.

It's come down about 15 cents a gallon around here over the last week - hopefully it will continue on this downward trend.

Are you really going to brave WDW at Christmas?:worship: :worship:

Yes, its the atmosphere and decorations that make it worthwhile...........the crowds are horrible..........we just do a little every day...........

Decorations are beautiful, aren't they? DH can't stand the crowds so we never go during Christmas week, we usually end up going either the first or second week of December - absolutely beautiful and low crowds (unless it's Pop Warner week and then all bets are off!).

Now this is funny. :lmao: :lmao: I will have to play groundhog later.:thumbsup2

We were able to swap into a cabin that my sister was going to cancel. Now our kids are able to join their cousins on this cruise of a lifetime. I tried to keep up with the original thread but it moved too fast. I'm glad you have a new thread that's not as intimidating. We are a group of 11. 5 adults, 3 boys aged 22, 13 and 10 and 3 girls aged 15, 11 and 8. I've been chosen as the planner for our group and I'm going to try and join in on the planning here.

Have you tried the Cheesecake Hershey Kiss??They are to die for.:worship:

Saw some of you in chat tonight!! It certainly was busy, thanks for your patience and congrats Pam!!

More thanks for understanding the long thread situation. I was a bit challenged when it came to removing the poll as you suggested. That's why it looks a bit odd.

I hope that I've given you some assurance that your thread will return. If there's something specific that you need to retrieve from that thread before we're able to bring it back, please PM me. No promises that I'll be able to find what it is, but I'll do my best to help.

Thanks Regina!!! We appreciate your help.:flower3:

So I leave and go to WDW for a long weekend and find that all of the threads have moved..:confused3 WOW what excitment!!! anyway I found you and I am back...

Hey everyone! I go away for a few hours and 20 or 30 pages are posted I'll ketchup another day.

Thanks for coming to chat with me tonight. That was insane, but a lot of fun!

Okay the chat was even to fast for me!!!:lmao: How fast can you type!!!

I haven't seen this in a coon's age! My brother used to say "Tom Terrufgut"

We are both showing our age now!!!;)

And here's some of what I found on TOM TERRIFFIC

Tom Terrific was an early animated series on American television, presented as part of the Captain Kangaroo children's television show.

Created by Gene Deitch under the Terrytoons studio (which was a subsidiary of CBS, the network that broadcast Captain Kangaroo), Tom Terrific ran in a series of five-minute cartoons created specifically for the Captain Kangaroo show from 1957-1959, and was rerun on Kangaroo for years thereafter. For several years after 1962, Tom Terrific would be broadcast every other week, alternating with Lariat Sam, another Terrytoons creation.

All the voices were done by one man: Lionel Wilson.

Drawn in a simple, even clumsy, style, it featured a gee-whiz boy hero, Tom Terrific, who lived in a treehouse and could transform himself into anything he wanted thanks to his magic "thinking cap" funnel hat, which also enhanced his intelligence. He had a comic lazybones of a sidekick, Mighty Manfred the Wonder Dog, and an arch-foe named Crabby Appleton, whose motto was "Rotten to the core!" Other foes included Mr. Instant, the Instant Thing King; Captain Kidney Bean; Sweet Tooth Sam, the Candy Bandit; and Isotope Feaney.

There were 26 stories produced, the first thirteen filmed in 1957; the remaining thirteen filmed in 1958. Each story was split into five parts for broadcast each weekday morning. During the years that Captain Kangaroo was also broadcast on Saturday mornings, the episodes would be re-edited into two parts (with cliffhangers and recaps from the daily versions eliminated), the first part broadcast during the first half-hour; the conclusion during the second half-hour.

The character also appeared in a comic book for six issues in 1957 from Pines Comics, with some stories drawn by Ralph Bakshi. Tom Terrific also appeared in a few Wonder Books, an imitation of Little Golden Books.

Tom Terrific was ranked by TV Guide magazine among its "50 Greatest TV Cartoon Characters". There has never been an authorized VHS or DVD release of the series.

Thanks Tom!!!:cheer2: I learned more about Tom Terrific then I ever wanted to know!!!:lmao:

Morning Pirates, it took me 2 hours to ketchup 30 pages.
I'm using DH laptop, boy I am really looking forward for this cruise.
Unfortunately I have a lot going on this year. DH and I are going on a short trip to Puerto Rico in early March, My oldest DS is getting married in June, and we are in charge of boy scout fundraisers such as memorial day picnic, 4th of July, and the balloon festival and the planning of this cruise. I had paid most of this cruise off yesterday, so it is really happening. We thought we would have to cancel this cruise. Thank goodness we are not.

Did you forget I will be on that deck!!:confused3 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: You know I am far from quiet.:rolleyes1

Hi Andrew. Thank you for all the helpful cruise information. :) I feel like a bum not contributing anything. This will be my second Disney cruise. Wish I would have found this forum for the 1st one.

Keep us on the list please!!!:flower3:

Um.....may be a dumb question but does anyone know if when the boards were revamped - did they reset all settings? For some reason - I lost all my threads saves. Now I hve to hunt down everything. Oh woe is me - that should teach me to stay away for so long! But glad I found you all again!

I told you not to stay away from the boards too long!!!:lmao:

hey Cheryl, it's awfully quiet around here... considering...

I spent way too much time getting caught up. We need to have a warning on real information just like we do for math alerts. I think the Dis created a bigger monster since our old board disappeared!!!:lmao: :lmao:

Hi Everyone!

I was just thinking, now that the boards run so much faster .... is that just going to cause us to post EVEN MORE! :rotfl2: :lmao:

We seem to have been moving at a major clip over the last couple of days.

Pamela (pdarrah)

All right I just sent my request for the Los Venanos Zipline. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

What am I complaining about ?????

It's extremely cold here and yes in theory, Norfolk does enjoy warm weather in comparison to the rest of the UK, what it doesn't say is that the rest of the UK breeds Polar Bears.

Kings Lynn is about 45 miles from here and is in a more sheltered position than where I live (Cromer). An interesting fact about Kings Lynn is that outside London, Kings Lynn has the highest population of rats in the UK.

Eventhough we live at the seaside, the weather is only hot (barely warm by Floridian standards) for around 6-8 weeks each year. Last year, that was reduced to around 27 minutes.
I stand by what I say, it's freezing here today.

For some reason this line just cracked me up! Thank you, David, for the laugh. I needed it today. :)

Chocolate talk is bad talk. I have to stay away from the chocolate. One piece will do me in and I'll want the whole bag.

Penny

Same here, as long as I don't start eating it--No problem.
