So I leave and go to WDW for a long weekend and find that all of the threads have moved..:confused3 WOW what excitment!!! anyway I found you and I am back...

We were at WDW for MLK weekend.. celebrating our anniversary but also the high school choir was there.. to sing at WDW and have a good time. the boys made sure that they showed the choir around .. yep the boys were happy campers.. lots of girls and them..

I wrote a long version of the trip but it got lost in cyberspace.. so the short of it is Dh and I had a great time..Friday night the boys went to epcot and I went to DTD to go to Wolfgang pucks for a salad and then to Ghiradelli for dessert.. The Wolfgang Puck in DTD is closed but I walked to the west side and ate the BBQ chicken salad there... then back to Ghiradelli ...
Saturday Dh and I went to AK. did safari, lion king, bird show, Yak and Yedi for lunch, Nemo, Everest for me and Tough to be a bug for Dh.. then he want to go back to OKW and rest, i stayed and did EE again and watched the parade. Then hopped to MK. Had ice cream there and met DH - we did Haunted Masion, Philaharmagic and laugh floor then it was raining and cold so we went back to OKW. Kids stayed with the Choir kids and "hung out"
Sunday Dh and I went to MGM - did Beauty and the Beast, fast passed TT, did Great Movie ride and then hopped to MK to see the Choir perform. After that We took the boys to lunch at peco bills and then they left to be with "friends'.. Dh and I went to Tiki room and but the lines were so long for everything.. even Country Bears and TTa and Carousel of Progress.. it was worse than in the summer.. so we left and went back to OKW and rested and got warm jackets.. it was cold. Brough jackets for the kids too they were in Tshirts and shorts and it was about 30 degrees.. We headed back to MK about 6ish and the crowds were less.. after Wishes the crowd really thinned out and everything was walk on until 2 am..

Monday DH and I went to Epcot. We fast passed Soarin and did living with the land and Timon and Pumba thing before our fast pass time.. We then went and did Figment, and the Oh Canada movie before our ADR at Le Cellier. The boys met us for lunch. we all had the cheese soup and the fillets. The fillet as on a squash thng not the nornal cheesey potaotes.. good but not great.. then the boys left to join their "friends" and DH and I walked to MGM. We did muppets, TT, Indy and Star Wars and Little Mermaid. The we saw Fantasmic and ran for a boat to Epcot. At Epcot we did Spaceship earth and Illuminations.

On Tuesday we made the lkids stay with us .. did Crystal Palace for lunch, Buzz, TTA, Space mountian, Philharmagic, small world and then we left..

Great trip.. Kids loved being their with friends.. we loved that too.. This is the last family trip for years ... boys won;t be going back for a long long time but I am hopping to go in October for F&W ot Dec for Mousefest or November or ???

Susan, glad you all had a great time. We've been there too when it is cold.:goodvibes

We were held up at gunpoint once in Guatemala. We were in a private van with a driver hired by the resort we were staying at, in the jungle on our way to the Tikal ruins, when some guerrilla-types came out of the jungle with machine guns and made the van stop, made us all get out, searched the van, stole our friend's beer and then (thank god) let us go. Right up until that point, I had been asking the driver if there was a place with a restroom nearby. After that, I didn't need it.

:scared1: :scared1: How horrible:scared1: :scared1:

You run over many joggers??? :confused3

I think you're one of the few who caught that. ;)

Oh, just a heads up to all the Blood Donors out there...

When I donated this week I checked on the ports of call for the cruise. It's looks pretty certain that I'll have to go on a 1 year deferral. So, be sure to donate before the cruise.

(Got my 3 gallon award... :goodvibes )

Thanks for the reminder about blood donation:thumbsup2

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: My kids give me a hard time when I run people over too.
What's up with that?

And you, too..... :thumbsup2

I hate joggers. They make me feel fat and guilty. (okay, I am only kidding. I don't hate them)

This can apply to either Tom!!!! :lmao: Some of you will be too young to remember a cartoon called

Tom Terrific!!!!

I haven't seen this in a coon's age! My brother used to say "Tom Terrufgut" :rotfl:

Caught up to myself only to discover that I am talking to myself.

Goodnight all!

OK, this is obviously an American thing, but I have to ask...what is a GS cookie & what makes them so special? :confused3 DD is a Brownie (guiding variety, not cookie variety), but there is no food involved there!

Celestine

Tom Terrific!!!!

I just had to pause to take a second glance at this... being a "Tom" maself ya knooo....

And here's some of what I found on TOM TERRIFFIC:

Tom_Terrific.jpg

Tom Terrific was an early animated series on American television, presented as part of the Captain Kangaroo children's television show.

Created by Gene Deitch under the Terrytoons studio (which was a subsidiary of CBS, the network that broadcast Captain Kangaroo), Tom Terrific ran in a series of five-minute cartoons created specifically for the Captain Kangaroo show from 1957-1959, and was rerun on Kangaroo for years thereafter. For several years after 1962, Tom Terrific would be broadcast every other week, alternating with Lariat Sam, another Terrytoons creation.

All the voices were done by one man: Lionel Wilson.

Drawn in a simple, even clumsy, style, it featured a gee-whiz boy hero, Tom Terrific, who lived in a treehouse and could transform himself into anything he wanted thanks to his magic "thinking cap" funnel hat, which also enhanced his intelligence. He had a comic lazybones of a sidekick, Mighty Manfred the Wonder Dog, and an arch-foe named Crabby Appleton, whose motto was "Rotten to the core!" Other foes included Mr. Instant, the Instant Thing King; Captain Kidney Bean; Sweet Tooth Sam, the Candy Bandit; and Isotope Feaney.

There were 26 stories produced, the first thirteen filmed in 1957; the remaining thirteen filmed in 1958. Each story was split into five parts for broadcast each weekday morning. During the years that Captain Kangaroo was also broadcast on Saturday mornings, the episodes would be re-edited into two parts (with cliffhangers and recaps from the daily versions eliminated), the first part broadcast during the first half-hour; the conclusion during the second half-hour.

The character also appeared in a comic book for six issues in 1957 from Pines Comics, with some stories drawn by Ralph Bakshi. Tom Terrific also appeared in a few Wonder Books, an imitation of Little Golden Books.

Tom Terrific was ranked by TV Guide magazine among its "50 Greatest TV Cartoon Characters". There has never been an authorized VHS or DVD release of the series.

$453 for such a bed and a 6 drawer chest? You sure you didn't point a GUN at the clerk as you were payin'? That's legal theft for such nice stuff Monica! The set pictured above is $1898 for the same 2 pieces you've got!

Not quite as big as that. Its only got 1 layer of drawers underneath, but still a great bargain if I do say so myself.

For Cheryl:

Here is a pic of my shrimp tempura from Yak & Yeti

How'd you like Yak n Yeti? I've heard such mixed reviews about it.

Here's some edited stuff that I NEVER knew about GIrl Scout cookies.... plus here's the link to the full discussion:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girl_Scout_cookie

A Girl Scout cookie is one of several varieties of cookie sold on neighborhood tours by Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) as a fundraiser for their organization. Members of the GSUSA have been selling cookies since 1917 to raise funds for their units. Top-selling girls can earn prizes for their efforts. There are also unit incentives if the unit as a whole does well.

Individual troops began organizing cookie sales as early as 1917 to fund the troop's activities. The first record of such a sale was by the Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee, Oklahoma, in December of 1917. In 1922, the Girl Scout magazine The American Girl suggested cookie sales as a fund-raiser and provided recipes. In 1933, Girl Scouts in Philadelphia organized the first official "Girl Scout Cookie" sale, selling homemade cookies in the windows of local utility companies. The first Girl Scout cookie recipe was a sugar cookie. In 1936 the national organization began licensing commercial bakers to produce them.

[edited]

Girl Scout cookies are made by large national commercial bakeries under license from Girl Scouts of the USA. The bakers that the organization licenses change from year to year; as of 2005 they are Little Brownie Bakers, a subsidiary of Kellogg's; and ABC Bakers, a subsidiary of Interbake Food (since 1939). Licensed bakers can offer up to eight varieties of Girl Scout cookies. The national Girl Scout organization reviews and approves all varieties proposed by the bakers, but requires only three types: Thin Mints, Do-si-dos (called Peanut Butter Sandwiches by ABC) and Trefoils (called Shortbread by ABC). The other kinds can be changed every year, though several popular favorites, such as Samoas (ABC's Caramel DeLites) and Tagalongs (Peanut Butter Patties by ABC), are consistently available. Each bakery names its own cookies. Thus the exact kinds, names, and composition of the cookies varies depending on who has the license. Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakers have been the primary competitors for the past several years.

Some examples of Girl Scout cookie varieties include:

Thin Mints: The most enduring and universally familiar Girl Scout cookie. These round, mint-flavored cookies covered with dark chocolate perennially sell the most boxes of any cookie. Thin Mints have changed their name once. Up to the 1950's, these cookies were known as Chocolate Mints. These cookies have always come in a dark green box. Little Brownie Bakers and ABC make Thin Mints.

Do-si-dos or Peanut Butter Sandwiches or Savannahs : A sandwich cookie. The round, bumpy perforated oatmeal cookie top and bottom surround a peanut butter-flavored layer inside. Do-si-dos used to be called Jackie O's. These cookies come in an orange box. Little Brownie Bakers calls them Do-si-dos. ABC Bakers calls them Peanut Butter Sandwiches.

Trefoils or Shortbread : These shortbread cookies are shaped like the Girl Scout Trefoil design. Scot Teas were a similar, lighter sugar cookie made by the now defunct Burry. These cookies come in a blue box. Little Brownie Bakers calls them Trefoils; ABC Bakers call them Shortbread.

Tagalongs or Peanut Butter Patties: These are round cookies with a layer of peanut butter on top, and then covered in chocolate. These cookies come in a red box. Little Brownie Bakers calls them Tagalongs; ABC Bakers call them Peanut Butter Patties. The origin of the name tagalong comes from a game that girl scouts play using a basketball.

Samoas or Caramel deLites : These are round doughnut-shaped cookies about 2 inches in diameter with a hole in the center, covered in caramel and toasted coconut, and then striped with chocolate. These cookies come in a purple box. This is one of the few cookies that are made differently depending on the bakery, hence the two different names. Samoas are made by Little Brownie Bakers. They are round, with an orange color and are thicker from top to bottom; usually they also contain more caramel per coconut. The ABC version of this cookie is called Caramel deLites.

All Abouts: A shortbread cookie with a layer of chocolate on the bottom and featuring Girl Scout related sayings on the top. These cookies come in a pink box. All Abouts are made by Little Brownie Bakers.

Thanks-A-Lot: A shortbread cookie with a layer of fudge on the bottom and the words "thank you" in English, French, Chinese, Swahili, or Spanish embossed on the top. Thanks-A-Lots have been made by ABC since 2006 and were preceded by a similar cookie called the Animal Treasure.

Café Cookies: A gourmet style cookie, coated with cinnamon. These cookies come in a light brown box. Café Cookies are made by Little Brownie Bakers.

Little Brownies: Introduced in 2007, these are sugar-free cookies resembling small pieces of chocolate brownies and contain chocolate chips. They are made by Little Brownie Bakers. These have been discontinued and have been replaced with sugar-free Chocolate Chip Cookies, new for 2008.

Cartwheels: A cinnamon and oatmeal round, which contains calcium and vitamins including thiamin, niacin, and riboflavin. These reduced fat cookies were new in 2006, they are made by ABC Bakers. These have been discontiued.

Lemonades: New in 2007, these shortbread cookies are stamped in the shape of a sliced lemon with a lemon icing. They are made by ABC Bakers and replaced the Lemon Pastry Creme.

Cinna-spins New in 2008, these are little cinnamon flavored cookies that come in 100-calorie packs and shaped like cinnamon rolls. They are made by ABC Bakers.

A past cookie featured in some areas for a number of years was the Lemon Pastry Creme, consisting of two flaky lemon-flavored crackers sandwiched around a lemon-flavored filling. Formerly made by ABC Bakeries, they were discontinued in 2006 after Little Brownie Bakers acquired the license for most United States, as Little Brownie Bakers lacked the equipment to make the crackers.

As of 2004, the best selling Girl Scout cookies are:

Thin Mints (45% of total sales)
Samoas/Caramel DeLites (9%)
Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties (17%)
Savannahs/Do-si-dos/Peanut Butter Sandwiches (19%)
Trefoils/Shortbread (11%)

You realize Monica, I took a bunk bed and personally HACKED it to take an existing full sized bed because I could NOT find one that precisely (or even remotely) suited what I evisioned. I have modest bedrooms - no palatial bed chambers in our modest Southern California home - so I wanted to gain a certain utility while keeping the full sized bed our daughter had. So I bought a bunk over desk and enlarged it to take the full sized mattress... then I added a modest castle facade. I never competed the frontal tower - but I did make a slide off the side with a trap door leading to a ladder! Below is the original PLAN followed by a single image of my daughter tickled pink with her new bunk desk bed.

The colorfully edited sections are the parts I added to the original design.

What an amazing experience!
I'm surprised they ONLY took your friends' BEER! No money?
I guess they were really looking for something or someone else, and as
an exercise in petty upmanship they JUST took a bottle of beer from yer party!

Before I call it a night - I just want to say I am really looking forward to meeting you/Alicia & your girls. I do hope you can make it to the March DL meet. If not - perhaps I can think of another time/place.
