Morning Pirates, it took me 2 hours to ketchup 30 pages.
I'm using DH laptop, boy I am really looking forward for this cruise.
Unfortunately I have a lot going on this year. DH and I are going on a short trip to Puerto Rico in early March, My oldest DS is getting married in June, and we are in charge of boy scout fundraisers such as memorial day picnic, 4th of July, and the balloon festival and the planning of this cruise. I had paid most of this cruise off yesterday, so it is really happening. We thought we would have to cancel this cruise. Thank goodness we are not.

I'm so glad that you don't have to cancel this cruise! It's a good feeling to get it paid off, isn't it?:goodvibes

We were held up at gunpoint once in Guatemala. We were in a private van with a driver hired by the resort we were staying at, in the jungle on our way to the Tikal ruins, when some guerrilla-types came out of the jungle with machine guns and made the van stop, made us all get out, searched the van, stole our friend's beer and then (thank god) let us go. Right up until that point, I had been asking the driver if there was a place with a restroom nearby. After that, I didn't need it.

Stace,

That's horrible. They would have needed to scoop me up into a bucket & pour me back into my hotel.

I once had a college teacher who asked someone to run into her classroom & "steal" her purse because she wanted to show us that no one would be able to successfully describe the actor. Well, he ran in with his finger in his pocket pointing like a gun. I thought my heart was going to explode out of my chest.

When I get some definitive information back from him. I will be happy to share. This is the email I sent him and his response back.

This is a copy of the email I sent and his reply. I sent him back--no mobility issues and maybe a few would be interested in emerald shopping, but most probably in regular souv. I'll keep you informed about the progress. I used 24 as a number where I thought we would be able to get the best rate.Paula

I believe that in 7 hours (10-5) you should be able to do both. Let me find
out what options are now available for Baru and beach type things, figure
out the lunch possibilities, and then work it into a full day tour with the Old
City as well.

Are there going to be any (all?) of the group that will want emerald and
higher-end shopping options? Only souvenirs?

Also, are there any mobility issues with anyone that I should take into
cosideration?

I did not even realize that Disney was going to have a ship arriving in
Cartagena in the normally "off" month of August. Let me work on this a bit
and get back to you.

So when I get an itinerary back and costs it will be easier to say yes you would be interested. And I am sure that he would be delighted to have a group larger than 24. Chris said that she would help me. :goodvibes

Sounds interesting. Let us know what you find out. I always like to see the historic side of the places I am visiting. Thanks for checking on this. I was considering taking one of the DCL tours, but like a smaller more focused tour.

First stop - City Hall to get him a Birthday button. I'll never forget watching the Band Conductor lead the Band to a Cast Only door and then he came back and proceeded to sing Happy Birthday to this little girl who couldn't have been more than 6. You could have heard a pin drop on Main Street at that time. Wish I had a video camera for that moment.

Maybe we could get a group of us together for a birthday dinner at Goofy's Kitchen. That would make him feel real special. What day do you arrive?

Our flight gets in late on the 13th - we are first timers at disneyland so its gonna be lots of fun. I want to get him a birthday pin and get my dd9 a 1st timer pin as well. Not sure if Alex being 13 and all will be "too cool" to wear a birthday pin at disneyland or not. Its so hard to predict how cool they are from day to day!

My son is kinda like this too! He'll be 13 in May. Interesting thing is, when it comes to Disney, he's never too cool to participate fully (yet). I believe he's still contemplating again sporting the hairstyle below for DL and EB Repo adventure. :thumbsup2

I think I speak for nearly all of us in echoing your setiments... in looking forward to this wild party mving off the thread and out to sea! AND, I'm sure we're all juggling some form of what you've described. As I am about to launch alittle fund raiser at our daughters' pre-school... I'm doing a jog/trik-a-ton with the kids. The leading fund raisers will get larger prizes and trophies, while every participant shall get an "action" photo (by me) and impressive ribbon of achievement! Well... at least those are the current plans. Over 100 kids will be offerred a chance to participate - so I don't know what fraction will do it. I'm hoping for 20% to do it.

Coral you are the Deck 2 captain and M, Crash and I are your Peeps. I know there are more deck 2ers.

Hi All! I'm a Deck 2er too!:cool1:
Penny

Hi again! Sorry for the weird previous post... I'm playing ketchup & didn't realize how many posts had been posted & just replied to one from way back... still getting used to this stuff. I'm getting back on track again (I hope). Life just keeps getting in the way. :goodvibes

Glad ta see ya found us. Of course, we'll only be here until we hit 10,000 ...
then we'll start up thread #3! :confused3

I've been thinking more about the thread and i think we really should consider starting new thread each month until the trip.... (the first post can be a wiki of sorts each time referring to pirate zone)

Take What You Can !!!!

GIVE NOTHING BACK

They only stole the BEER and let you go? I could take along some extra beer to Colombia to offer to any potential kidnappers if you think that would work:rotfl:

Yep...they looked at all of our passports, too. The only thing we could begin to think was that they weren't in the mood to hurt Americans....:confused3 I'm just glad. The whole time we were standing on the side of the road (a very narrow dirt path through the jungle) I just kept thinking that no one would ever even find our bodies, and my parents & Megan (the only kid we had at the time) would never know what had happened to us.

That entire trip was quite the experience, to say the least. We were actually staying in Belize and the trip to Tikal (Guatemala) was just a day thing.

NOW.....WHO WANTS TO GO ON A JUNGLE TOUR WITH ME IN COLOMBIA???
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:
