Very true indeed, after 15 nights I will go through my stateroom door, leaving the cruise and just under a year later will come back through the very same door, albeit the same room will be slightly changed, Some people use the SciFi term, Dry Dock?

PS New DW series starts April 5th here, of 13, then Christmas, then only three in 2009! and Rose is back! Also Alex Kingston and Colin Salmon .

Well...

... I was feeling a bit persecuted for a bit. I've posted a lot ... and a lot of my postings have images. But the vast majority are really small files. Some are even entertaining while others simply are insane and barely applicable (depending on ones' POV). At any rate, if LENGTH of thread and processing method are at issue ... especially since they've allowed siggys to have no FILE size limits - just DIMENSIONAL limits... it would seem the images/animations and file sizes are NOT a concern of the technical managers here.... since I checked with a moderator some time ago when the new rules for siggys (and their automatic editing) went through ...

.... Then it seems it would be safe fer me to again offer a sheepish claim to being....
INNOCENT.


I left my animated ship docking in my siggy specificly because I got an answer that the file sizes were not an issue in the siggy... WITH the reservation that AT THIS TIME the siggy file sizes were not a concern for the moderators.​

Crash you are not the only innocent one who posts images (me) & I'm sure there are other factors at work here, i.e. "fluff" & please don't feel persecuted, because as others have attested, your posts are sometimes amusing & sometimes poignant, but always welcome!

I'm pretty much recovered from my surgery. Got the all clear to return to work on Monday. (not sure I'm too happy about that LOL).

We have a family meeting at 4pm today. Depending on the outcome of that, he may come home with us then, or spend one more night at the group home to adjust to the idea of coming home.

Glad you are mostly recovered & I hope all goes well with DS coming home soon!

You are correct the pictures are not posted on DIS but on other boards like Snapfish, photobucket etc etc... Because of this everytime you call up a thread the DIS server must go out over the internet and find these pictures and retrieve them and then bring them back to the DIS server to display them for you. though it appears instentaneous to us it does take time for the server to call the other server and then bring back the picture.

That makes a lot of sense. If I had to guess I would say that better servers could handle the issue, but if that isn't possible, the moderators can set some guidelines about how to improve performance on the Dis. These might include not overdoing pictures, keeping them smaller, not quoting and having the image show up in the quote, and potentially making all threads over a certain length read-only . . . We will just have to wait and see what they suggest.

I absolutely love GS Thin Mints (with milk ), but getting them is hard -- there truly aren't that many girl scouts in Manhattan. Once I was in New Jersey for the day and found some girls selling them, and I bought 10 boxes and froze them!

No matter what happens to this thread/the old thread, we should always ensure that on the first page there is a link to the pirate zone website for those looking for specific information.

I had a quick peek at the WB REPO new thread - they had a nice summary in one of the begnning posts.

I still find this list a bit intimidating. So many people coming and going - it's hard to keep everyone straight. Maybe an intro rollcall might be an idea every now and then for newbies. I've been on for just about 2 months and I'm still lost a bit.

Wendy, I'm not sure but I think that people wanted the roster of people going to be on the pirate zone website rather than here . . . but of course on there most people are not listed yet, even if they post a lot on our Disboards thread. I'm not sure what the answer is, but I know that it can be confusing, to say the least.

OK, I was just kidding on Andrew's suggestion of dividing the thread by deck. I would miss too many people but I do like my deck 2 "peeps". <- What the heck does "peeps" mean anyway? I am reinforcing my nerd status.
