8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #15 /Life After the PC

Quick Question. Has anyone received their CC after the cruise packet? Do we still get them?
J

If you don't receive one, just contact them and ask for the number - I understand its a little hit and miss as to who get cards but you will still be a member. From what I understand, they also do not send them out of the US so we don't have cards but we are definitely members (though that doesn't apply to you of course).

May I take this moment out to remind you all of something?

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!!

Thank you - you may return to your regular schedule.

Get out and VOTE!

Done! Now we wait and see.... Was easy here! The people working the polls seemed almost bored when we went since there was no line! Though around 3500 people in this county voted early and I can't believe there are more than 6000 that will end up voting LOL!

Cheryl your grandkids and Terri Sydney are all cuties! :cutie:

Tis all over , but the shouting! No more nasty political ads! :cool1: Our precent has 1,917 reg voters and 860 voted. I was 186 at 9 AM. Our PTO made $450 on the bake sale.

Of course I was patrotic and stimulated the economy today! And my Disney VISA card!

I know. DH and I walked in and voted...it took all of about 2 1/2 mins. :) And that was with filling out a new card because we moved.

We were told that 75% of our precinct voted early.

Good job to those in the US who voted (regardless of your choice of candidate). Its a right that I believe everyone should take advantage of. I think Obama has a hard job ahead of him and I wouldn't want the job.

We have our election here this weekend. I think its a given here as to who will get in and its not our current PM. I'll be sure to vote and make my voice heard.

We have a rule in this house *If you don't vote you can't complain.* :rotfl: Although outside of this house dh and I have never said a negative word about anyone in office. If we agree or disagree with our elected officials isn't an issue.
I don't want my children to grow up hearing people complain about the President (or any elected official). But, we do let them see/hear us discussing what we would like to see happen or we try to help make things happen.
Did any of that make sense?

It is such an honor to be allowed to freely vote and I don't want that to be taken lightly by our children. We always research the candidates and know where they stand on all the issues.
We want our childern to learn to make informed decisions. Not *blind* ones.

I agree with that! I wouldn't want that job either! It was really interesting when we were there for our honeymoon and doing a LOT of driving. We listened to the radio a lot. The big news was the election that was going on while we were there. 2 things really stuck out for your big issues (this was in '05). One was that to have equal representation, NZ has seats allocated for the Maori (whereas here, we just elect a certain total number). And the other big thing was that everyone was complaining about the healthcare system, which if I remember right is government run (unlike ours). Apparently the healthcare system was not good enough.

It's sad really how self-centered the media in the United States are... We really don't get a good idea of the rest of the world unless we travel!

Makes sense to me. Does no good to complain about the current elected officials anyway, just makes everyone grumpy.

hhhmmm..... I had another friend email this weekend and as if we are up for Bella Italia in June '09..... ;)
Are you taking your entire family or did y'all decide for it to be just you and Steve?
We have tons of AA miles that we need to use soon..... Probably enough for all 5 us..... That is the one good thing about dh & 17dd traveling overseas! MORE miles! LOL!

We were going to take the whole family until I realized how expensive for all 5 of us would have been. So I managed to talk the kids out of it but I had to promise the girls a week at WDW. So I think I will book 8-15-22/09. Due to the pts restrictions, I cannot do an "open jaw" type of ticket we shall have to fly back into the same airport we flew out of so it will only be Steve and I on Peru.

So cute!

OMG Terri - she's adorable and looks so cute in her costume. Can I hazard a guess that the night was a rather warm one? I was able to sit on my porch without a sweater on just a long sleeved shirt. Although I did dress my dogs up with some hot dog costume over her back. Poor dog on top of her fur coat she had another throw on her. :rotfl2: Hey - she left it on. :rotfl:

I agree with that! ... Makes sense to me. Does no good to complain about the current elected officials anyway, just makes everyone grumpy.

OK I agree with that - makes no sense to complain so might as well go with the flow. This from the traitor Democrat. But I do have to say that I am totally impressed with how well the Democrat parties got organized this year. Now, as Tina said, no more nasty ads! :woohoo: For years I've had to sit back and watch how the Republican parties and the ladies were organizing and I guess it was just a matter of time before the Democrats got organized. Good for them/us???? What ever as he is now our rep.

Syndey looks so cute!!! I bet she is eating any cocolate she gets!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: How is her eating been??:confused3

Ha Sydney LOVES the candy bars! She helps Daddy eat them... I am trying to stay away from the candy bowl however to avoid the weight gain! (It's not really working...)

Oy her eating. She's doing OK. I think I mentioned in chat that we did an initial feeding clinic evaluation on Oct 3rd and were going back the end of Oct... Well that didn't happen due to privider's disorganization and insurance not covering part of it. What I need to figure out is how to get her to eat meals... She seems to really just snack all the time. Snack for breakfast, snack for morning snack, etc...

So cute!

:rotfl2: Terri, are you afraid that some DIS fanatic might drop in on you unannounced? Good save there? Took me a second to catch up to it. But you can never be too sure or security conscious - you know we had all kinds of unsavory characters on this thread - huh Cheryl? :rotfl2:

Just kidding. :rotfl: :flower3:

OMG I finally saw Mike's video of the TOAL! This was me:

I mentioned on the Baltic thread that I finally figured out (I think) why Adobe #9 wasn't loading and uninstalled some "stuff" not sure which one it was as I un-installed several things while at the same time making some shortcuts disappear as well as pictures but DH says that I'll come across them eventually so not to worry. :lmao: Love our attitude right? Anyway, got off on a tangent, mentioned the software fix on the thread and he reposted the link. As I said this was me:

Totally made sense to me. If you don't vote, don't complain...

My Mum never voted until I made her come with me as soon as I was old enough - I had to explain the basic "ideals" of the various parties so she knew who her preference would be.

I figure its taken women long enough to fight for the right to vote that she'd darn well better do it! I'll be dragging her along on Saturday for our election too.

If nothing else, I'm pretty sure her vote will cancel out my Dad's one LOL

I'm really pleased the US election is over - ours has been a bit on the back foot with your one being around the same time. We are small fish in a big sea and what happens to the US can affect our economy in a large way.

Our healthcare system is always a major dividing line for the political parties. The system is heavily subsidised and in some cases free depending on your income but you might have to wait if you need surgery - you can go of course go privately but that costs extra - probably a bit like Medicare?

We have had the same party in for 3(?) terms now - the equivalent of Liberals - and I suspect it may go back the other way which IMO is always harder on the poorer people. I like our current PM - she is a decent hard working woman and dare I say she gets a much harder time than a man would in the same position - constantly complaining about her appearance and what she wears - as if it matters?

It'll be interesting to see how it goes on Saturday and I think eyes will be on the US economy now too and watching to see if & how that affects us.

LOL well yeah! Hehe remember when I joined in Mayish I was very paranoid about even saying what state I live in? But we've since talked about me living in Los Alamos... And well if you ever drive by our house, you'd recognize it anyway since the front is very unique. Yeah always careful of Cheryl... She lives a few blocks from my in-laws :rotfl2:

Good for you - my dad drags my mom along and I figure that I'll take what I can - at least she's voting. I may not get her to realize that she's able to makeher own decision as opposed to following dad's order of voting but at least she's voting.

Exactly my point earlier? I like Palin before and was wowed by her after look too. Why is it that a woman cannot be pretty and smart and be taken seriously? OK - off the soapbox, good for your PM - she deserves to look good as leader of a country.
