Caroline, I thought that K was done with the hair cutting mess. She clipped off a hunk at the top of her head in Kindergarten because it got twirled up in a toy and instead of asking me for help...just pop the top off to get it out...she cut it out herself with less than an inch left on her head. :( She did it another time on a smaller scale. Imagine my feelings when I walked in on her just a couple weeks ago with a handful of hair. :( :( :( She thought that if she clipped her hair it would grow back when she put water on it. :sad2: I had to even out the rest of her previously grown out bangs. They are just to the point where she can tuck them behind her ears now. OY!

Some kids just have a thing with scissors!:upsidedow

I teach 3 & 4 year olds. One of my 4 year olds decided to cut his shirt. That was fun to explain to his mother.

My mother teaches Kindergarten and one of her students cut her own hair. My mother sent the hair home in an envelope to the student's mother. :lmao:

And it times like these when I want to say to my principal, "See? This is why I didn't let them start cutting until January!!"

DD has the obsession bad. When she cut her hair the last time, she also cut her sister's Ipod buds off and cut the arm of the couch...about 6 inches long!!:headache: Everyone tells me to hide them, but DD is usually the only one who knows where any are.:sad2:

So, should I add you to the list of...umm..."guests"...for our return to our Alaska house??

- we really do have a guest suite in that house - private room, private bath, access to the hot tub.

In a heartbeat I would b there!! :goodvibes

Oh my goodness! That's not funny, but it is a little bit. My sister and I never went through that "oh let's cut everything" stage. And I know kids who have cut other kids' hair. We never did that either.

Let me tell you, teaching kids that age, you need about a thousand eyes and just as many arms to stop them from doing things like that, right?

So - upon tallying the refund, cabin credit, discount on a future sailing, transfers, Polynesian sleeping room, and WDW admissions... we sort of felt the 4 nite cruise in a verandah was MORE THAN FREE. Sort of interesting... and we were mildly reaffirmed as Disney Cruise enthusiasts. It was remarkable to us how they managed us as we drew nearer to Orlando. On one hand they might have told us more about the defferred sailing ... which meant we COULD have simply waited and flown directly into Orlando on Tuesday.. if we had known. But that was not the story at the time we took off on Sunday.

In final retrospect... having read about how other cruise lines treat thier customers who suffer "H" related voyage disruptions/reductions... or how other cruise lines handle ANY non-"H" problems resulting in problems for thier passengers... I can only say I now know that no one else comes close to what DISNEY did for us. And I don't tink we would ever have pushed to meet a ship the way we did for Disney. We are BOTH seemingly committed strongly to one another IMO.

As a side remark... we've almost ALWAYS sailed during "H" season - for the reduced rates - and because it fits our schedules comfoprtably. And this was the only time in about a dozen sailings where our cruise was influenced / disturbed by an "H". That's OK with us... as we'll choose a sailing in "H" season any year - more or less. And we're likely to do it again if we had our sailoing threatened again in a simlar way. We'd just make a couple of minior adjustments to how we handle getting into position for the proposed embarkation!

So - I hope you don't get wacked too much by bad weather. it cannot be any "fun".... and I do believe I have some appreciation for what bad weather can bring about ... first hand.

you long story shorter.. I was on that cruise that was before your cruise in Aug 06. We went to Galvaston Texas for safety and if we did not have Capt Tom or MSN telling us about Hurricane Frances and Gaston, we would never know we were in a HURRICAINE. Disney kept us so safe as well as informed of all the situation of the storms. Sadly, we never were able to go to KEY WEST due to EDWARD the week before. Yes, our cruise was lengthened by 3 days.. All the crew, food and activities were as if it were planned..

When we got to FORT LAUDERDALE on WEDNESDAY.. the DCL buses were waiting for us to take us to what was left of PORT CANAVERAL---- well the airport(MCO). We had friends that were suppose to pick us up at the port,, they were evacuated so DISNEY arranged for a town car to take us to SANFORD Airport..

This will be my 5th cruise in August.. and I wouldnt change it for fear of a hurricaine..!!

Wednesday? You sure it wasn't TUESDAY? Well... my spouse is always telling me I don't remember things RIGHT anymore...

OK... I just asked Alicia... it was in fact TUESDAY. Not Wednesday ... so she sez. Don't we usually embark/debark on Saturdays? So if you added 3 nites in avoiding Frances... that means you had ... saturday + sunday + monjday nites extra on the Magic... then you'd debark on TUESDAY.

OK... again... what does it matter... really? My point ... the trip was a bit of an interesting little adventure that resulted in a nice voyage after all. And the conduct of DCL was a bit better than satisfactory given the turbulant circumstances.

Here... have a Micey Bar!

....[ed]... My niece likes to explain stuff to my DD (19mo). DD was having fun playing in the mud.

If you look closely, you'll see dirt in her teeth...Ugh! She won't eat food but she'll eat dirt.

I also found some sand toys that will fit in the suitcase for $1 on clearance at Walmart! :thumbsup2

Arrgh!

We had a similar circumstance with our younger daughter a couple of years ago...

I'd have to watch to correct her interest in TASTING sand at the playground!

Good evening, hope everyone is enjoying the final countdown to the TOAL. Right now I just want to come up with a final packing list.

Just printed out the navigators -- what a great job. Many thanks.

I am still finding all the post it's and small scraps of paper I made notes on and trying to be half as organized as you all are. I know I signed DH and DD up for wine, rum and (I think) martini tastings but can't remember who is handling that. Can anyone help with the info? I remember there was quite a list so I know that one of you helpful pirates can bring me up to date on these plans.

I adore my grandkids == but when you add this visit to just getting back from DD's move == just trying to keep up with a 3 and 5 year old is doing me in. I am really tired at this point. I really need this vacation.

Hi - We are joining this link very late! We are once again going on the EB repo. I never imagined that we would have this chance for another!
We are myself, DH and two sons ages 13 and 14.
We are taking a private tour with Mr. Emerald (just like a lot of the pirates I found out) in Cartagena. Since there are only 4 of us, Lee suggested that I post here to see if another family or group would like to join us. The price for the 4 of us is around $53 a person but if we got more people that would go down. We will be going with a narrative guide to the fortress, gold, church, and a shopping stop. The highlights of the island. Time about 4 hours. Mr. Emerald has a great reputation here and on cruise critic.
So - if any Dis'ers are looking for a more private tour with a reputable operator that will pick us up right at the dock, please PM me.
Looking forward to the chance to meet some of you - wow - you sound like a fun bunch!

On The Tonight Show tonight, Jay Leno provided an excellent solution to the increased cost for checking more than one back . . simply WEAR all your clothes. It might be difficult to walk, let alone sit in your seat on the plane, but it sure would serve those airlines right

:lmao::lmao::lmao::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Nite, nite . . .

Tan advice, please!
Do I try to tan my back or just leave myself 2-toned? Obviously I'm not real tan to begin with, but does it look weird? I'd have to use sunless stuff.

Just home from the baseball game..Angels vs Orioles..it was a great game...Angels had the lead 5-1 going into the 9th and it ended up tied going into the bottom of the 9th..Angels had full bases and 2 outs...pitcher walked the final player and the Angels won! Had lots of fun but I am tired!

DD friend comes over tomorrow for a play date and my living room looks like suitcases exploded everywhere :rotfl2:

Hope everyone is doing well and getting excited!

It really is up to you and what you are comfortable with. From the picture I can see the two-tone slightly...if you have the time and can match it up and want to..go for it!

Hi, just wanted to say good evening and hope all is well with you all. Wow count down. It's already Tuesday and 1 week and 3 days, can't believe that. Amazing that some of us have been waiting for this time to come, we have been waiting for over 2 yeards and I am excited.

Got most of my FE's done and I am so glad and DS helped me with the yard work. Yah.

What are we in for......?

DD went to a friends birthday party today at a build a bear place. The kids had the option of building bear (which she'd done for her birthday back in May) or take home a Webkinz. She came home with a Webkinz.

You could be in for loads of trouble! It's very addicting! (just ask DH! :lmao: )

OK....

Miss procrastinator here....

I've come up with a halfway decent pirate ensemble...

Anyway to complete it i need a pirate tricorn hat.

Does anyone have an extra laying around i could borrow?

~K
We have one if no one has offered one yet! It's not a really cool one or anything, but it'll work!
HOW can he say no to that cute little pixie?!?!?!? DD has been teasing DS that his girlfriend will be on the ship. LOL! He doesn't mind. It doesn't seem like 2 years ago!
