Does that mean it is walkable? Looking to get to a target or Walmart for various provisions, e.g shower gel, suncream etc. which it seems pointless to drag from the UK when it may not even arrive in LA!

Celestine
Ditto that!

I have found when we are in the USA, kids there are very interested in England and London, and ask a lot of questions. I presume due to the very strong links between our two countries, and our history, and of course the common language between us.

Stephen has always had good friends on each cruise, He was asked once if he know the Queen and did we had afternoon tea? His reply was seen the Queen on TV, and we have McDonald's.

We have been told we talk funny, but we say we invented it!
oh I bet they'd get along like gangbusters (I don't know what that means so don't ask me. It's just a saying..... it means get along really good I think LOL)

It is approximately 3 1/2 miles down Harbor from Disneyland..

12100 Harbor Blvd
Garden Grove, CA 92840
(714) 971-4826

There is another approximately 3 miles away:

101 S Euclid St
Anaheim, CA 92802
(714) 422-1120

This one is the next major street North of Harbor. This is the one closer to Hojos.
Oh, so I guess it's not really walkable? Atleast not with my kids. :confused3 :rotfl:

We saw it 2 weeks ago and it was WONDERFUL!!! Be prepared for the teen age girls to shriek CONSTANTLY the whole time the Davids are on.

Thanks - I never really watched AI until this past season. I mean I would watch a show here and there but this season I did watch most of the episodes.

Shrieking girls - oh fun :sad2:
You can bet my DD will not be one :rotfl2:

I always tip at Palos... but I recall reading somewhere that the $15 is actually the service charge (to sort of make up for the fact that the Palos waiters don't get regular gratuities). So, what's the story? Is any additional gratuity a bonus on top of an existing service charge, or is the $15 a fee and gratuities completely separate?

This quote is taken from the confirmation email that I received from the Palo dining specialist confirming our group room reservation on the cruise.

A Palo Dining Option of $15.00 per person is automatically added to the guests' shipboard account. Gratuity is not included.

When I emailed back asking for confirmation of that because of the debate on the board she actually took the time to call me and explain that because DCL is mainly concerned about customer service they will not tell someone that they HAVE to tip the servers, only suggest; however, she thought that it was a matter of using "common sense" to know that the servers receive such a small amount of that $15 [less than $1.00 per person] that you should tip as if it was a percentage of what you would pay for the meal elsewhere. I think that she only used those words because I told her that I was a waitress before and understood what it was like to serve people who then stiffed you while you were getting paid below minimum wage while you were working. I consider the tip part of the cost of dining at Palo.

That's so weird- they didn't even hand me mine. they knocked and by the time I walked straight to the door- they were already in their truck taking off. they just left them by the door. LOL

Same here!

Did anybody notice on their cruise doc itinerary that Monday was completely left off and no mention of PC day....LOL
DisFrog, who is traveling in our group, asked me tonight at scrapbooking if ours was missing that too....got home and yep...looks like we move from Sea on Sunday directly to Cartegena on Tuesday....LOL

Well that just stinks! Mine's missing PC day too!

Sounds like you had a great time! :)

I'm so sorry about DH. I can only imagine how much that hurts.... I have some disc "issues" (after an accident when Rita was about 1yrs old... and thank God she wasn't with me at the time which was very uncommon to ever be anywhere without my kids! I'd just switched vehicles and Jeff left to take the kids home in the minivan and I took his vehicle to go shopping before going home to a different town than we were in.... I was stopped behind someone else waiting to turn left so I got slammed in the back- then that slammed me into the car in front of me so I got hit from the rear then hit the car in front... double whammy) - and I can only imagine how much WORSE it has to hurt to be completely missing discs! OMG....

That's very cool...I'll tell Deryk about it as he loves history.

Also, sorry to hear about your DH...hope he gets better soon.

Thank y'all! I'm hoping today is a better day for him! Bip, I'm sorry that you deal with back problems, also.

Steph, a co worker and I have disc problems. mine is controlled with exercise but hers was so very bad. Her Dr had her go thru a series of 3 epidural shots and she is so much better. Maybe he should look into it. Of course she was immobile for those days. But she swears by them and I heard of another co workers husband that did the same.

The epidural shots don't work for missing discs. He is actually totally missing several discs in his neck and back.:sad1:
He had those done (about 9 yrs ago) for the couple of torn/bulging discs he had (they caused him not to be able to walk without leaning against a wall and pulling himself) and the shots made a tremendous difference! :yay:

Ditto that!

I think we would say 'mint' ie 'Cool':thumbsup2

Thats one of the best detailed posts I have read on Palo tipping ever, there is often so much debate on this on the main forum, who does/ who doesn't who think its included in the service charge.

This gives good direction.

I have always 'doubled' the PALO charge, per person as a tip, so ie a $15pp charge, I will tip $15pp. Maybe right/ maybe wrong, but the regular Palo staff always seem to be happy every time I see them.

This includes the Palo private room ,where each stateroom ( ie reservation) gets a separate bill and you can add a tip.

I have seen many different levels of tips, in Palo, ( rubbernecking) and see people do tip how they feel, or even not at all.

I have the dress but I think it is a large also...it no longer fits me...which I wish it did because DD still fits hers (its short but will do for the evening) and DH has his shirt. I will check in the morning when I can get in my room and not wake up DH

I have gotten those kind of matching family outfits with the current size and the next for the kids. Now someone did give me a dress that matches the lighter blue set from 2003 DS.com that is way too big. I will go see what size it is. I think it is in our cruise box in the garage.

So I'm curious... I've seen a lot of people talk about bringing coolers onboard, but the travel docs say "No personal coolers except for medical supplies"?

We usually tip $30-$40. We have been taken care of by Sasha on our first trip and Marco since then, who makes Palo an experience and a personal buffet at our table. We are a little disappointed not to have him taking care of us on our cruise but have a feeling that he will be keep an eye out to make sure that we are enjoying our time there. I will always remember our 12/05 dinner with our Geek friends John and Amy. :rotfl: Marco brought one of every desert to the table along with a souffle for each of us. He was chatting and removing the wrap from the terimitsu [sp?] and suddenly the knife slipped and the whipped topping on it flew across the table at me. It got on my dress and face. We were all cracking up but Marco was totally embarrassed...and concerned. We assured him that it was fine and added to the meal. We joked about it last cruise too.

The docs say that. The sign on the wall at security says that. The security personel will ask you if there is ice in the softsided cooler before they put it through the scanner and comment that someone must be planning to have a good time as it goes through revealing your loot. :thumbsup2

Simular to what i do,:thumbsup2

So you can't take ice then? What about a medical cooler? Can we take the blue packs?

Really cute Stace. Enjoy her!

Good mornin' pirate:s

OK, this is it...I'm going to finish my cruise shopping this weekend. I am I am. If I don't find something by Sunday night, I just don't need it! So there.

The other 4 kids (oldest dd was here at the house all day -- she cut all of my hair off! :yay: I now have short hair!) went to my IL's house for dinner so that 28ds & Samantha (17, dd) could tell them all about their trip.

DH is feeling really bad..... He doesn't know if it is the pain in his neck and back (he has degenative (sp?) disc disease) or the lack of sleep from the extreme pain the last few days that is the problem. :sad2: So he came home from work early and went to bed. I doubt if he has slept much....
I think he needs to find a Dr and see about doing the disc replacement surgery -- I can't remember the total number but, he is missing several discs. His migraines might go away...also....

I feel really bad for any of you that have chronic pain.

So, do you like your short hair???
:grouphug: for DH

I took the 2 youngest kids to the Dr for their yearly check ups this morning.... They told the Dr where they were going... He told them that his Great Grandfather (or Great, great) was the 1st person all the way throught hte completed in canal. He was the lead (head?) explosive person and he rode on the first boat through. He climbed out of the boat and hung from the front so that he would be the 1st person through! LOL!

John Harmon was his name. :)

Cool.
The book I read describes it as pretty anti-climactic. They were using the finished parts of the canal to transport the people, supplies, dredges, etc. while they were still building the rest of the canal. A ship came in from the Atlantic side to the lake (wasn't the first ship to make that 1/2 transit), hung out in the lake for a few days, then went through to the Pacific side (wasn't the first ship to make that 1/2 transit). The ship got through to the other side and they were sorta like :confused3 "Well, I guess that was the first one..."

You can find a link here at the Pirate Zone ... Please be sure to Vote as well

I'm still confused...why are we voting?

Okay....here she is......we weren't sure at first if we were getting a boy or a girl.....but one look at those huge headlights and we KNEW it was a girl!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Cute car Stace!
I love the color. My COAL (car of a lifetime) is blue as well.

I've had disc problems with my neck in the past, avoided surgery with 2 courses of steroids, but obviously not as bad as your DH:sad2:
I had to sleep in a neck brace or I would wake up in pain several times during the night if I moved my neck:headache:
I've been pretty lucky the past few years that it hasn't come back.

Hope your DH feels better soon:grouphug:
Does he sleep better on the cruise ?

Thank you! He relaxes more on the cruise -- I don't think he sleeps anywhere! LOL! Besides pain he is also a very light sleeper -- he didn't care for the Roy suite because it was too *creaky*. I didn't hear a single creak.......

Well Rita wore hers until it got too short. I think it's in her closet now but too short to wear. Anyone need a small (or maybe it's XS) dress in this design? LOL but our dresses were put aside in a box of things to wear on the next cruise. When I went to get the box I'd put our new Disney shirts in- that I'd bought 2yrs ago (after our last cruise when they were on sale on disneydirect.com) -these 2 dresses were in that box. LOL

If it will fit Claire she would love it -- I have the matching dress. ;)

I can't believe all of you keep your Disney dresses in a *cruise box*!
I wear mine ALL the time!!! I own a ton of Disney dresses/skirts and whenever I need a *lift* I wera a Disney dress! :rotfl2:

IStephen has always had good friends on each cruise, He was asked once if he know the Queen and did we had afternoon tea? His reply was seen the Queen on TV, and we have McDonald's.

:rotfl2: That goes along with people asking us (people from TX) about our horses & Oil wells! :lmao: :rotfl2:
