:yay: :yay: I accomplished stuff tonight...went to Walmart and bought all the clothes we still needed for the trip as well as new water shoes that fit for DD.

I started separating the lanyards - got about 1/2 done and then quit as I had a meeting...came home and DH had separated all the rest of the lanyards into their seperate envelopes and labeled each with the name, cabin number (or gty) and the number of lanyards inside! :woohoo:

I feel accomplished! :cheer2:

Thanks again for doing this :thumbsup2

At any rate - lok at all the bags she saddled me with lugging around - and yes - we probably repacked a bag at the airport check in to BALANCE the weight in avoiding overwieght charges on check in!

Soooo..........why do they make you rebalance.......? I've always wondered that. If your're allowed, say, 2 cases - and each one can be 50lbs, then why can't one be 60lbs and one 30lb? They're on the same paperwork so :confused3

It can't really be about total per passenger weight as DD (7) is a good 150lbs lighter than me and yet she can have the same 100lbs total baggage weight :confused3

Anyway....why am I up at 4:45am writing this......:confused3

I'm blaming it on the Captain and the iPhone early morning buying spree :rotfl:

You should have said, do you have a yellow pages book? And then proceed to look up the nearest competitors bank...I'm sure THEY would be able to locate some 5-dollar-bills for you!" :rolleyes1

Customer service is not what it used to be...

As I read it I was just picturing the fine customer non-service rep saying "whatever..."

I may be wrong but they need to account for baggage weights of certain sizes because they load the luggage area of each plane by weight. Back to physics...4 bags of 60lbs in the front of the plane and 4 bags of 30 lbs in the back of the plane means the front is heavier. They need to balance 2 bags of each for example to make sure that each luggage zone is even and the plane can handle it. If you have ever been on a small propeller plane and seen the flight attendant walk up the aisle counting the people, she/he is doing a weight calculation - to make sure the pilots are comfortable with the balance of the aircraft. I've been on small planes where they told me I could sit "in this seat, that seat or this one, but nothing behind row 4 and not on the OTHER side of the aisle!"

Unfortunately, there was a plane crash a few years ago that was the result of overloading a luggage area on a small commuter plane; the plane took off, only to climb straight up and then crash. That was a tiny 19 seater and it was also attributed to a maintenance issue...those ground crews usually know what they are doing - even though they all look like Samsonite luggage testers, throwing bags around in attempts to see what they can break.

Re: Baggage - I don't think so on regular commercial flights....or they'd move passengers around too (which I have seen on some puddle jumpers - At Negril (Jamaica) they have a set of scales that passengers have to get on, but the planes sometime only hold 6 passengers).

I used to live by Heathrow airport (London), there were always baggage handlers in the local pubs - they commented that they haven't yet found a suitcase that can withstand being run over by a fork lift :rolleyes1

I agree on full size jets...balance is still a big deal, especially with the fuel costs these days. Some airlines are actually flying slower to save fuel, a few minutes longer in flight for a few dollars saved, I guess its worth it in the end.

Frontier Airlines changed the flight we booked on 9/1 - from Orlando - to San Francisco. Our original time was 3:05pm - only one flight per day -

SOOOO - they changed it to 8:30 am!!!!

Needless to say - I had to change airlines - and pay more for the return fligt!!
Bummer.

That stinks! :(

Chris, what a pain. It is aggravating all the changes the airlines are going through. But still way less hassle than a cross country road trip. I have been looking at airfares into Tampa for a November cruise and I am getting tempted to drive! (Wow, never thought I would say that--I have a 4 hour rule)
We purchased some DVC points and one of our perks was to stay at what is called the Mickey Penthouse at the DLH...they do not rent it out..it is given away during the year of a million dreams etc...so we have our night there this Sat. Had some issues confirming it and now are all set!

:cool1: Desiree, I had missed the story behind this too. What a neat DVC incentive. Sorry you had so much frustration with it, but how cool is that!!!

Wow you did way more than me. I got DHs measurements and sat around when then measured his knees for some braces to help keep his knees from going on the trip. Poor guy will look worse for wear. Between the scooter and the braces.:confused3 They want to fit him also with a tens unit that will cure the drop foot. 2 problems. 1 is no insurance covers it and 2 $4500. Hopefully it will get approved. The darn thing has been highlighted on every news show. Finished my puzzle and off to bed...........

Arlene, I hope they approve it for your DH. :)

I can't sleep.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day.
The investigators will finally be done (we think) with my friend's house and we're going to go in salvage what we can. From what we've heard, it's an ugly scene...but we want to remove any "icky" trace of the victim before her family goes in.
I am so not looking forward to this at all. Duh...another idiot remark. Who would be?
DD Jordan wants to go because she's thought of a career in forensics. This might be just what she needs to see to decide. I'm told the family pets are still in the house.

Stace, how sad. I will be thinking of you today as you help out your friend. I know it will be a difficult day for all of you.

& she pretty good..@ it...:wizard:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

And also, please forgive me for just a moment, but I want to say again that if I am not myself lately, I just wanted you to know about this....and to pray for this girl's family, and that of my friend.
I also apoligize for being out of whack....past, present and future.

Personally, it is your whakiness that I love about you:goodvibes

For some reason I am starting to get panicky about the next 5 weeks.
Being on vacation a couple of weeks ago really showed me that my "back-ups" are just not "up-to-speed". I came back to a lot of issues I had to end up taking over. That means that I am going to have to work way more the next 5 weeks to get the particuraly needy clients taken care of so they can last w/ out me for 2 weeks. I normally work part-time so that is out for a while.
I had the idea last night of laying out the outfits for the girls and taking digital pictures of them. That way even though I cannot pack their clothes now, it will make it easier when I do pack. Print out a sheet of the outfits and put them in the suitcase.
My house/animal sitter called and said she will not be here on the day we leave. She is bringing over her friend that will take over for her that day but she was our ride to the airport so now that is gone. We are debating asking a neighbor (who has offered many, many times) or get a Super Shuttle.
I am still working on clothes and the cool door signs may be a "no-go". Also, I have no fish extender.
Is reality hitting anyone else about now? :scared:

Nowadays I get pretty extreme with meat preparation - the real problem if stuff is cooked propertly is contamination after the fact.

So basically as soon as the meat is put on the grill, every utensil and plate that I use before the food is cooked gets thrown into the dishwasher, packaging is tossed and the surface area cleaned, and I wash my hands, etc. If I use a spatula to turn the burgers, I'll clean them (or if BBQ hold it over the hottest part of the heat) after the first turning to make sure it's cleaned from the previous contact with raw meat.

I'm even more careful with chicken (salmonella can be just as unpleasant as E.Coli).

It does make for extra dishes and trash, but I think it makes a difference.

Dan, you sound like Alan he does that too. me I can't even figure out how to turn on the grill:)

Coral, I always come back to some problems at work. I know they try to get everything right, but it is aggravating. I spend more time at work before and after a vacation. This will be the longest we have ever been away 24 days--yes, I am a little nervous about it. But my vacations are what help me keep my sanity:)

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is doing good today. Least it's Friday. DD and I will be off to the Mid-west Mini meet late this afternoon. Her day camp is going to an indoor water park and they won't get back till 3:30 PM!:scared1: So much for us getting an early start. But I'm still leave early as I still need to pack! Yeah, I need to get myself together for the TOAL. Can't be packing the night before or I'll be in trouble.

We collect change everyday and through it in a jar in the kitchen, but we also collect quarters from the air/vac machines at the stores. I bought us an electric counter last year and it really makes it easy. :goodvibes

I got Katie a bank that counts when you put the change in. I have an idea how much it will be. Since I got direct deposit, I just don't go in the Credit Union much.

With the airlines cracking down on over-weight luggage fees, I went out and picke dup a travel scale at Target. It's pretty small, but it weighs up to 50 pounds. If you're looking for one, they stock them near the luggage, and it cost $9.54. If it saves me from an over-weight baggage fee, it will be worth it.

Got mine at Target too and it has a tape measure too. Tried it in April and I wasn't anywhere near the limit. But the bags still felt heavy.

It feels so good when you get stuff done. Thanks for doing this!

Since I haven't packed yet for this weekend, I really need to get organized. I have a friend and co-worker who is going to take us to the airport, before work. She is going to keep our Jeep "Otis" while we are gone!
