quick question about onboard charges....
Is it possible to put a set amount of money on DD9's key? Her bday is while we are on the ship so I thought we'd give her money to spend onboard for stuff she wants (with a limit)

If for some reason she did not spend the amount given (highly unlikely) would we be able to get a credit and/or disney dollars for her to take to WDW after the cruise?

Thanks for your thoughts

Yes you can give her a pre paid onboard credit.
Not sure how the overage would be handled. Probably back to the credit card that paid for it.

:yay: :yay: I accomplished stuff tonight...went to Walmart and bought all the clothes we still needed for the trip as well as new water shoes that fit for DD.

I started separating the lanyards - got about 1/2 done and then quit as I had a meeting...came home and DH had separated all the rest of the lanyards into their seperate envelopes and labeled each with the name, cabin number (or gty) and the number of lanyards inside! :woohoo:

I feel accomplished! :cheer2:

Wow you did way more than me. I got DHs measurements and sat around when then measured his knees for some braces to help keep his knees from going on the trip. Poor guy will look worse for wear. Between the scooter and the braces.:confused3 They want to fit him also with a tens unit that will cure the drop foot. 2 problems. 1 is no insurance covers it and 2 $4500. Hopefully it will get approved. The darn thing has been highlighted on every news show. Finished my puzzle and off to bed...........

BTW Do we have a Fred cruising with us????? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Some have gotten theirs....we,like you,have not. :sad2:
Nothing for us yet! I guess we'll be sleeping in the life boats on our honeymoon. He's going to owe me a 2nd honeymoon now! :rotfl:

Also, Monica posted about the DL tickets for Southern California residents. I'm running out of time tonight and tried searching for who posted that they would help purchase them for those of us far far away from a Disney theme park. If you could repost or PM me, that'd be great. Otherwise, I'll try searching for your post again this weekend when I get some more time.
Sent you a PM. Let me know how many you need!

With the airlines cracking down on over-weight luggage fees, I went out and picke dup a travel scale at Target. It's pretty small, but it weighs up to 50 pounds. If you're looking for one, they stock them near the luggage, and it cost $9.54. If it saves me from an over-weight baggage fee, it will be worth it.
We got one too and I'm planning to bring it with us and probably ditch it at the airport or ship it home! We'll see. Anyone know if there's a UPS store close to the airport? I'll share if anyone else needs it to check luggage before we get off the ship. I'm assuming we're going to have extra weight with souvenirs from the different ports!

great... Just got home from the store... The receipt had a recall notice for ground beef.,.. Apparently they're recalling all varieties, weights and sizes sold between 5-21-08 and 7-3-08. They may contain E.coli... Return product or empty container for a full refund. Who keeps the empty container??

We've been making a lot of burgers too.... Guess we're lucky we didn't get sick!

I was sick one day and night last week, right after I'd made tacos with what turned out to be one of the packages of recalled beef.:guilty: But it only lasted the one day, and no one else here got sick, so it must have just been a 24 hour bug. I think we were lucky.

 Glad it didn't last!

It has now been confirmed that I am a total idiot. Yeah, okay, some of you knew that.

I tried for the first time ever to go into chat. First off, it isn't Friday night....:sad2:
Second.....I couldn't figure out how to write anything. No, I take that back...I typed into the little box....but there wasn't anywhere to hit "reply" or "post" or anything.

SO if anyone was in there and saw me....I swear I wasn't being rude....I am just too challenged. Yeah, that's a good word. Better than stupid. Challenged.
:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

 Glad it didn't last!

Thanks...me too. But I'm even MORE glad that no one else in the family got sick. I can handle ME being sick.....I hate it when they are. Know what I mean?

I can't sleep.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day.
The investigators will finally be done (we think) with my friend's house and we're going to go in salvage what we can. From what we've heard, it's an ugly scene...but we want to remove any "icky" trace of the victim before her family goes in.
I am so not looking forward to this at all. Duh...another idiot remark. Who would be?
DD Jordan wants to go because she's thought of a career in forensics. This might be just what she needs to see to decide. I'm told the family pets are still in the house.

It could have been E.Coli. There are actually many different types of E.Coli (many of which are harmless and already present in each of us - some of which do part of the job of digesting our food for us). It's just the bad strains you have to worry about, and even the bad ones vary.

Most of the bad ones are most dangerous for young children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. Healthy adults may have no symptoms, or they may be mild or pass in a day or so.

On interesting thing - if you're eating beef it's particularly important to cook ground beef very well. Steaks are much safer. That's because E.Coli contamination comes from the outside - so once you've cooked the outside of a steak, if you handle it properly from then on, you're likely to be fine. But ground meat mixes the contimination into the entire burger - so you have to be careful to cook it thoroughly.

ITA. I would think it very strange holding onto an empty beef package for a few weeks???

Frontier Airlines changed the flight we booked on 9/1 - from Orlando - to San Francisco. Our original time was 3:05pm - only one flight per day -

SOOOO - they changed it to 8:30 am!!!!

Needless to say - I had to change airlines - and pay more for the return fligt!!
Bummer.

I am in the same process. My flight on the 8th is still in limbo right now, I have no idea why they are keeping all of the early ones and cancelling all the late flights. It's about a month away and I have to check every day to make sure we stay all together..... :headache:

Bless you Stace. Prayers to you to get through tomorrow and however many days it takes...how sad.

 ...so sorry..justm, for your recent loss & stressors. you're in
my thoughts..for happier days & times.

...i have enjoyed this site. however, we are not offiical members. *
there are 2 motivational reasons for that. i'm not the disney planner
in the family. nor do i wish to be....as it may..hurt my lil'cutie's feelings
[ being a lil' territorial..in such matters...]. instead i prefer..to be the
critiquer. secondly..i just don't think i would look to good...in the nakey
rugby out~fits. :clown:

* except..the red nose, :thumbsup2

...thru my experiences,...i have found.."right"... to be more of a matter
of opinion/s.

anyone wanting to work ..on my crew? ..ok..justm, you can stick your

tongue..back in, [ we already know its cute-:goodvibes ]. however, the
crew under my directions....are also my responsibility....& i can't be in all
places...@ all times. this arena....should never be under estimated,...
...where...the highest casuaities..occurs..each year. so for the faint..of
heart...mught...want..jump ship, [ funnie ].

101...you come upon..2 adults barking..over "who's the lucky fella?, that

...the new cute..lil':bride: ..was sticking her tongue out? and now its
esclating....into....asorta name callin, and other inhumane jestures....
made by "humans"....what intervention should you chose? nothing. that's
is the correct response. why?...any verbal intervention....will likely
be precieve..as taking..sides..& all of a sudden.."you might become the
new target". instead..making your presence known....& assuming a
monitor 's position...demonstrated your faith & expectation...for the "two"
gentlemen....to agree..even to disagreed..or wait until....they begin..
to switched...from verbal..to disruptive "posturing"..where it's necessary
for separation intervention.

oh, the first rule...of sucessful limit setting?..setting a limit..that is within
your power ...to enforce.

if i may, dear..justm., i never knew.... ..what..a terrible reaction-
formation memory to carry. and still you carry such a "wand"~erful &
shinning zeal..for life...tells alot about your character. speaks nothing of
your tiny lil'acts of kindness...everywhere you bounce.

* reactions formations..are things that many of us..mis-understand..the
strong feelings they create. [ my first...i have no recollection..except..of
being told..& the divide it created. then there was the one i heard from
a dear close friend..{ he was from hawuii ]. wouldn't think?..but when he
was child..he witnessed..a man stabbing another to death. ]

..when i saw..the gorilla's ....the very first thing..i thought..was the recent
national g.'s special..over them being murder...just to be killed.

...wnata....kno, what is very :sad2: ..no one listened ..to those ..who could
improved..our country's mental health needs. to us..fyi, our crew...are
insulted..by people ....that do not/should not..be in a position to influenced
so many [media]...dr. p., is an excellent example..having negative efffects
...across the boards. the powers..to be..are more intetested..in preserving
their "profits"..then caring. :sad2: ...doing..the old formats...explain why
there are sooo many deaths. in reality, including the basics..knowledge
..we had to developed....would in~deeds saved police officers...and would
addressed major problems..in our school systems. for example, the highest
risks...of being killed..is from "others". [ when a person makes a fist..during
an disagreement...,i immediately + verbally recognized..that intention.
( following a few simple..rules...i have never been hit //in 17 years. )

* was kicked & stomped on by steel-toes boots...because...others, did
not follow my instructions..and i got it..when i had to helped them.
:mad: . { not my crew...& during the excitment..they failed to listened.}
..interesting.,...they were the guys....not the women i worked with.

our laws....could improved their designs..by recognizing....common sense
from our mental health needs. there are so many ways..to improved....
& yet..we still ignored..what is in plain sight. why?..from my obsdervations,
we like creating..comfort zones"...between us & them. my new &
threatening neighbor..called me .." a crack head [ most likely projecting},
..and a "va patient."...., enough!...i'm a veteran...& for such a nasty person-
who feels he has the right..to make fun...of those sick ..."those" that
have made his freedoms...a reality.....is self in-crim-i-ating. however,
there are mental interventions..that are very effective, begining with
documentation.

oh...anyone having desires..to abuse...me? , sorry that's my lil'cuite 's job,
& she pretty good..@ it...:wizard:

Hi Stacey,
I'm about to go to bed - popped by and read your post - HUGS!!!!!!!

Although I love murder mysteries - I would be freaked to be involved in a real life one!! Zen - deep breathing - have a glass of wine (or spirit of your choice) - all of the above!!

Again - Hugs -:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

LilG...1st off...I really really hope that your lil'cutie has a good sense of humor. You'll find out onboard. ;)

Reaction-formation. I'd never heard of it, but it now makes an awful lot of sense. I think most of us, if we stop to think about it, will now realize that this is what is happening to us when we have a negative reaction to something.
Does it work the same with a postive reaction...such as a smell reminding us of our grandmothers or a happy time in our lives or such?
Thanks for your insight.

Hi Chris! My friend and I were just talking about the same sort of thing. We watch shows like CSI and read books by Ann Rule et al....and yet we remain so detached. And we've realized how surreal it all is when you're in the middle of it. We've gone to the house, but it's still taped off and they won't even let us in the driveway, and suddenly a house that we've spent the last 23 years in....raising my two youngest babies, in fact....seems like a place we've never been to before. I can't quite explain it.

And also, please forgive me for just a moment, but I want to say again that if I am not myself lately, I just wanted you to know about this....and to pray for this girl's family, and that of my friend.
I also apoligize for being out of whack....past, present and future.

My DH kept telling me that he knows I cook the meat to death...and am really careful with storing and thawing, so he thought we were safe.....but I didn't realize that there were different strains and varying reactions.
