Gee...

... I'm gonna be in SF some time this month. I just need to double check my calandar as to WHEN that'll be. Maybe you foks can sort of make it THAT weekend? Let me go try and ask Alicia about that now.... if I can corner her long enough.

Looks like we're MAYBE in SF on the 19th to 21st. I have to still shop for air fare to see if we'll do thisor not.

Thanks for keeping things in perspective for me. Yes, we do have a good life and our vacations are really the thing that keeps us going sometimes. We don't really have material things not even a home gaming system. (Yes I know, we are one of the last houses on the planet without one). I have told my kids they can buy their own, but they choose to spend on other things. They do each have a DS that they saved for and bought themselves. One of our cars is 10 years old and the other was 14 years old and just replaced two years ago with a new used car. For me, it is not about what I have and what others don't and it never will be. This lady commutes 10 minutes to work because she lives in one of the most expensive communities in the area and she drives a Jag. My DH commutes 1.5 hours each way and works most of the time while he is commuting. Yes, we chose to live this far away, but it is what we could afford. Anyway, I could go on and on about her, but she is not worth it.
Anyway, my kids and DH are the most important things in my life. Without them, life wouldn't be the same. My kids would give their money to the homeless people on the street, it affects them that much. We try to volunteer when we can to give back to our community and right now it has been to save the pool. My goal in life is to raise responsible, hard-working kids with good values who put others first and realize that they aren't the only people in the world. So, thanks Crash and Dan for reminding me that we are very fortunate. I do realize that a couple of people here have lost their jobs recently and for that I am truly sorry. We have been there before as well. I will let this go and remember to be thankful for all that I do have and remember those that have little or nothing. Does anyone have some extra caffeine for my solo road trip? I tend to fall asleep in a moving car when it is warm and sunny.:cloud9:

We aim to please. And - I sort of thought - gee - is this glass half full or half empty? And does anyone really care? SO - to these questions only YOU can answer.

Off hand... I think I might have mentioned I too am driving a 9 year old car - originally bought 2nd hand. However, it was a plum purchase... as it was my spouses' old COMPANY car... and as such ... it was a good deal. I got a 2 year old Lexus 300ES which I believe originally sold for $30-35,000 for only $15,000 or so. SHe earned this unusually NICE company car for being one of the top producers in her region or nation - or something like that.

SO - we embrace the tactic of not sinking so much into our cars - which is NOT to say there's anything wrong with anyone who buys their cars otherwise. To each is his / her own, eh?

Of course we are jealous of all those years of memories with your sweetie that you have. DH and I have 29 fewer years and I can only pray that we are as happy as you are at 40. :goodvibes

Gee....

... Alicia and I been married 26 fewer years - and been together abou 15 fewer years. WOW... FORTY sounds like an incredibly BIG number. < wink > So,... ya figure that's DRAMATIC enough fer Cheryl yet? < LOL!! > :lmao:

Esteri you rock!

I cant tell you how appreciative I am with all the generosity that so many of you are doing to make this cruise special...

thanks for asking! they are doing great now...thank goodness they can get in the pool again...that was driving us nuts!

is anyone gonna do this? i'm considering it...but it really scares me that we would have to show id. still so undecided!

hope everyone had a great day today. thank goodness it's over the hump...i can't wait til friday!!!

Awesome!:thumbsup2 pirate: We got our FE gifts in the mail today, and after looking at them, they're not nearly as cool as yours!!

Sorry to hear that... Prayers to you and the family. Fire has got to be one of my biggest fears.

That's too bad. I've read that people join companies, but leave managers. Sounds like that's coming true for your DH. I don't subscribe to the view that you have to work lots of hours to be effective. When I was a new manager at KPMG, I was in the partner's office late one night and his phone rang. It was his wife who screamed into the phone, "YOU JUST MISSED ANOTHER DAY IN THE LIFE OF YOUR KIDS!" I heard it loud and clear and I usually have a hard time hearing. My oldest was only about 3 months old at the time, and I was quickly becoming a workaholic. My DW even accused me of becoming like that partner. That was the turning point where I decided that there's more to life than a work.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:cool1: We'll be there 3 days after you!!

I'd like to know too...I'm too nervous to spend $500 on DLR passes and find out we can't use them. It would be a great savings for us as we had only planned to get 2 day passes.

We're thinking of it. Thing is,we only need it for 1 day....that'll be 2 days wasted.

I've been watching various Disneyland forums. So far there has only been 1 report of being asked for ID. It was on one of the first few days that the tickets were valid. Since then, no one has been asked for ID when entering the park...only when purchasing. And one poster has been told by Guest Services that an ID is not required for park entrance, and if asked for one, they should ask to speak to a supervisor.

If, in the unlikely event, you are asked for ID and are not able to provide it, you can upgrade the ticket to one of the other park tickets for the full $99 value of these tickets. A 2 day hopper is $132, so you'd have to pay $33 to get a different ticket. You will not lose your money. You might just have to spend a little more.

These tickets are very similar to the 2Fer offer that was going on last year for southern CA residents. It offered 1 day at DL and 1 day at DCA for $49. This went on most of the year and many, many out of state people used these tickets with no problem.

I have to ask.....what's with the "I saved a gorilla"?

That was the turning point where I decided that there's more to life than a work.

So is it fair to assume you no longer work for KPMG? Both DH and I are KPMG alums. Small world.....Partners weren't very happy when they discovered we had been dating so DH left and started his own practice.

I wasn't trying to avoid you all....just messed up today.

Sorry to hear this Stacey. Prayer to everyone that needs them.

We got our confirmation today too. To Esteri and her packing crew, thanks so much for all your hard work!:worship:
