Thanks for keeping things in perspective for me. Yes, we do have a good life and our vacations are really the thing that keeps us going sometimes. We don't really have material things not even a home gaming system. (Yes I know, we are one of the last houses on the planet without one). I have told my kids they can buy their own, but they choose to spend on other things. They do each have a DS that they saved for and bought themselves. One of our cars is 10 years old and the other was 14 years old and just replaced two years ago with a new used car. For me, it is not about what I have and what others don't and it never will be. This lady commutes 10 minutes to work because she lives in one of the most expensive communities in the area and she drives a Jag. My DH commutes 1.5 hours each way and works most of the time while he is commuting. Yes, we chose to live this far away, but it is what we could afford. Anyway, I could go on and on about her, but she is not worth it.
Anyway, my kids and DH are the most important things in my life. Without them, life wouldn't be the same. My kids would give their money to the homeless people on the street, it affects them that much. We try to volunteer when we can to give back to our community and right now it has been to save the pool. My goal in life is to raise responsible, hard-working kids with good values who put others first and realize that they aren't the only people in the world. So, thanks
Crash and
Dan for reminding me that we are very fortunate. I do realize that a couple of people here have lost their jobs recently and for that I am truly sorry. We have been there before as well. I will let this go and remember to be thankful for all that I do have and remember those that have little or nothing. Does anyone have some extra caffeine for my solo road trip? I tend to fall asleep in a moving car when it is warm and sunny.
