One of the best ways scouting can counteract the WWW factor are the honor camp programs (Order of the Arrow or Mic-O-Say) offerred at the summer camps. Make sure that your son's council has a strong Order of the Arrow program. If so, OA will help keep your son motivated to stay involved to continue to grow within Order of the Arrow. When I was 17, I was flipping burgers at Wendy's and had no intention to go to summer camp. I was still a little involved in Scouts (already had Eagle), but still had room to advance within our council's OA program so I told Wendy's that I needed 10 days off and I went to camp. Twenty-four years later, I'm glad I did it as I reached the highest level.

The timing this week about scouting is odd. I hardly ever mention the fact that I'm an Eagle anymore, but I received a resume from someone this past week and he mentioned that he was an Eagle Scout even though he was in his mid-30's and has been in the workplace for 15 years. It did tell me that the person stuck with something and didn't give up!

My DS 11 just started Boy Scouts (crossed over) in Feb. He keeps telling me he wants to be an Eagle Scout.

I love the stories of Eagle, etc. and point them out to him all the time.

From what I understand this is a NC regulation/law. I wasn't aware of it either until she told me and every teacher who I have talked to since said that is right. It should at least be a district wide thing so I would call the school board and verify their policy.

Is this school an improvement over your last school district??? I remember somethings you were not so happy about!!!

I have a had few issues at my salon..but everything has been handled wonderfully....



Our flight to CA has been changed we leave later and have a layover in Dulles...not ideal we wanted direct but..it was a free flight so can't complain!
We leave boston at 2:30 and arrive in lgb at 8:45

We leave BOS at around 8:30am & arrive at LGB at around 11:30am. It's non-stop but not nearly the deal you got!

I'm sure it's been asked before, but does anyone know what rental car company has an office near the port where we can do a one-way drop off on Sunday? We were going to use a limo service, but for $300 one-way it's just not worth it!

Someone will no doubt come along and give specifics but here is my understanding. The only one way that is open on Sunday morning is Enterprise which has a pretty hefty drop off rate. I say something on the pirate site about it. Might want to check there.

I apparantly will not be a Hooters girl. The T-****'s arrived today and they look great!!!! The large I ordered is plenty big. I want to know if someone intentionally positioned the shirts where when the box was opened that you saw the cool logo. That was just too fun!!
I had the girls try theirs on and they will not take them off. I was unbelievably impressed w/ the labeling and packaging. Y'all might consider a new profession!

I have 99% of the FE packed, just waiting final count to add on the rest
I started packing the toiletries bag and I think I have purchased everything I need for that. Just have to do a final look at the list of items to purchase.

Then it is just waiting until I can pack up the clothes

Here's a couple of quick photos from the last 2 days. On the way back from San Luis Obispo we stopped at a miniature golf/arcade/go-kart place. They had these cool bumper boats which the girls loved! Julianna ended up with the superior bumper boat and she plastered me pretty badly with the water gun that was built into the engine control column.

And below... here are a few pictures from this mornings' swim meet. Julianna was quite proud of coming in 2nd in one of her swim race heats. I think it was for the breast stroke.

And below ... guess who we ran into at our swim meet? None other than GoofyOnTheHighSeas' family - with the older daughter (Madison) swimming in her races. Here's the younger daughter Austin chillin' with Kalea in our community pool where the swim meet was held:

OK... it's nearly time for me to go! We have guests scheduled to begin arriving at 12 noon - so I should get going now. Have a great weekend folks. Anyone going to DL on Monday or Sunday - shoot me a PM and maybe we can hook up (swap cel numbers). Alicia has a flight at 5AM tomorrow - so I got a room at the Hyatt sunday (priceline $41) so I'll take the kids to the parks sunday and monday! However, on Sunday afternoon I think we'll retire to the hotel to sleep - then return in the evening for fireworks and a couple rides.... OK I gotta get going now!
