Thanks to all who wished me luck.:thanks: :disrocks: I got an email from my travel agent (who is leaving on vacation for 2 weeks:scared1:) who assured me they do this all the time and it is not unusual (well, it is unusual for me:rotfl2:). Also since my tickets where booked through DCL they will make it good. I am not worried about getting to the port in time as long as we make the connection. So pray for fair weather and a smooth flight that gets in on time or even early...and that this Pooh sized lady can make it to the next terminal in a hurry dragging a backpack filled to the rim with medication and clothes...and my FE and gifts and door magnets. You know the important stuff.

So I am taking a deep breath and just leave it in the good Lord's hands. I swear I have been good, not great but pretty good.;)

I will! Since our flight is earlier that morning! LOL! Claire (7dd) will FREAK OUT if it is even sprinkling........ Do they make little kids Xanax????

Hey M! I'll just keep using your quote since it's so attention getting! ;)

Anyway, I did not get far. I called DCL & they say I can NOT book this ahead of time. I will gladly go to shutters as soon as they open & speak to the manager & try to set up a time, hopefully for the afternoon of PC day & then stick an invite on everybody's fish who is listed on the Pirate Roster. Does that sound feasible? :confused3

Opinions, ideas, thoughts? :goodvibes

It would be ALOT easier for YOU if you just post a note on YOUR door and tell us ahead of time to check it! LOL! It could take hours to walk to all of those rooms! LOL!

Great minds think alike - these were posted while I was drafting my response :) .

Creeeepppppyyy!

What a bunch of helpful people we are!

I know our room is not going to have a ton of stuff on it so I have extra magnets with clips that I can put on the door...

What about the other order though? If we do the 9:25 fireworks first then go to Fantasmic at 10. I cannot visualize the set up for the DL Fantasmic but it sounds nothing like the WDW one as far as viewing.

http://maps.live.com/default.aspx?v...0&scene=6773063&phx=0&phy=0&phscl=1&encType=1

Fireworks are best viewed from the hub, looking at the castle. The hub is in the upper right of the map, round street with 4 green patches in it, the castle is straight up where you can see the moat.

Fantasmic is over at the Rivers of America, left side of the picture, the river looks white. The viewing is all the concrete in front of the Rivers, no seating like at WDW.

It would be very tough, especially with young children, to try to get over to Fantasmic and be able to see the show. It's very crowded and the pathways over to Fantasmic are small (and I think they try to keep them one way during Fantasmic - I just don't remember which way each is).

I don't recommend trying to do both on the same night. Even for us experienced DL folks, it's still tough.

Your room is closer to the laundry entrance and is more centrally located (closer to the mid ship elevators), so I will concede the right to you as it will be more convenient to the group at large.

Hi everyone - been busy with life (aka work). I am out of the life boats. Stateroom 2645 - Starboard - Aft. Never have been down on a lower deck before nor not in the middle of the ship before. Read some reviews, seems it can be a noisy cabin when docking or if the crew is partying. Do I have any neighbors or has anyone been down there before? I called Disney to ask about my downgrade (yes downgrade - as I am in a 10 and it is just me so could do with an 11 or 12). They said the ship is completely sold out and that had been noted in my account so most likely not going to happen. Oh well.

Not sure I will catch up, hopefully I have not missed too much. Birthday & Anniversary wishes to all I missed and :grouphug: to all who need it.

Yesterday at work at 4 pm I was proudly announce that in 30 days I will be pulling out of port for the TOAL.

Just a reminder that we are having a NoCAL DIS meet tomorrow @ 11 am at the Flower Market Cafe. Monica was kind enough to organize and post on the Priate Zone a sign up. Looking forward to meeting some of you prior to the cruise!

How early do we need to be in the hub to get a decent spot for the fireworks?

Chrissie

At least an hour. Just make sure that wherever you stand, you can see the castle and the Matterhorn. If you want a clear view of the castle, you'll need to be there 2 hours early.

Folks may be seating that early, but they will make you stand as it gets closer to the show, so take that into account when finding a spot.

I would like to thank the academy..oh sorry!:lmao:

Thanks..lol

I love getting fireworks photos....and last time we were in DL there were no fireworks!!!!!!!!I have always wanted to see them by the castle!

Thanks Monica!

Maybe we could also have a volunteer from each deck who is willing to post an update on their cabin door. If we list the 'update doors' in the Pirate Navigator, people would know where to get the info. I'll take Deck 2.

PC day might not work since their photogs will be all over the place, but we can ask.

Thanks for volunteering Diane!

I was thinking that too M! I know the photographers will be very busy on PC day & also between dinners so if I can't get PC day maybe I'll try for Day 7 Saturday 8/23 at 1:00 since Crash is trying for his ice cream eating contest at 2pm so those participating can still be clean for the picture?

That's why I'm so glad I have all you pirates to help! I think that is the best & easiest way of handling it! My stateroom 6616 is right off the aft elevator/stairwell so it would be easy for people to pop over & check. I'm just afaid that people might forget all about this activity & forget to check?

M I can take this on. The LA limo tour has been all planned & set so I have some time to organize this. I'll call DCL now & see if they can help me out. I'll try for the afternoon of PC day if that's okay with everyone?

WOO HOO....I was going to give in if no one else did, but I didn't really want it.

Afternoon works well instead of between dinner seatings since I don't plan on wearing my pirate t-***** to dinner.

My TA (who I think might be your TA also) called earlier to see if I had any questions about the cruise. I asked her whether we would qualify for the $50 Disney VISA OBC in addition to the OBC offered by the TA. She said that if the promotion was going on, we should get it. I also asked if it was automatic or if the TA had to request it when he or she called in the payments. She seemed to think it was automatic. So....do you know if this promotion is going on now, and if we will get it if the TA doesn't specifically ask for it? I know that we used our DV to pay for last year's cruise and we never got the credit so I'm questioning if there's something we should have done. Also, if we do qualify, would each cabin get the credit (since we booked two cabins)?

Thanks,
Kim

Not Arlene, but when I verified with my TA that she had me down for that credit, her response was that yes, the code was added. So sounds like there needs to be a code.

If you booked it thru the Disney Visa and didn't have any other discounts from Disney such as booking this onboard with the 10% and all you should have the $50 automatically. I always tell people to call and verify. They have the info on your account.

oops sorry Chrissie don't mean to oust you as the winning door, but I was just thinking that if people remember I'm booking the group photo they might remember to check my door? Maybe?

I can be the update cabin for deck 5 - 5013

I have sent out all the PMs to people who indicated that they would like the wristbands sent out before the cruise.

For the new pirates here is the information about the wristbands.

Wristbands are available for .50 cents each. Because it was cheaper to get more, there should be plenty for all who wants some.

Text on the wristband will read DCL 2008 PANAMA CANAL and have a small skull & crossbones on the left side of the text.

Sizes
Wristbands come in 3 sizes:
L = 8 inches
M = 7.5 inches
S= 7 inches
To get an idea of the size you can cut a strip of paper to the above measurements and try it around your wrist. This will give you an idea of how it will fit once on your wrist. Remember the wristband will stretch to go over the wide part of your hand, but the paper strip won’t!

Colors
Choices are Red/Black or Lime Green

You can mix and match sizes and colors. Just state the quantity of each size and colored desired.

Delivery
If you want your order delivered before the cruise I can mail them out to you. Or I can deliver them on the ship or DL resort area pre-cruise. Let me know your preference.

Payment

If you would like your wristbands delivered on the ship we can settle up than. If you would like them mailed to you pre-cruise a check will work.

PM me if you would like to order.

When they come in I will post pictures. I'll use my dd as the wrist model!

Aw thanks Monica but you're doing enough already & I think you sure have a lot on your plate right now! Just goes to show what a fantastic person you are! Oh & wench too! ;) pirate:

Edited to add: I was definitely going for a sea day afternoon. I think people like to do their own family pics around dinner time too.

This works, we did it during the Mini meet earlier this year but.....be prepared to move around quite a bit to get a decent (semi decent) viewing spot.

IMHO the best way to to both events is on two separate evenings (this assumes you have at least 2 nights at DL)

The DL Fansatmic is way better than at WDW :)

Here's two segments from the finale: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkazkonZjJI

Andy

Hey Andy - have you heard anything about the 'new' ending? Supposedly not as much pirotechnics???

Thanks for the responses, Monica and Arlene. I will call VISA and double-check to see if it's on there. I'll take all the free money I can get!
