Oh Boy, we're special then!

Bring some for me too, please! Last cruise we took (March 2007) we invited my Mom to go with us. Little did we know at the time that she would pass away in October. It was the next to the last time we would see her alive. This will be bittersweet.

PARTY IN THE BRIG!!!

 That is wonderful that you got to share that time with her!

Mike - you have me listed 2x in this list and can you also change DH name back to Rich ;) . And our celebration is our anniversary 8/24 - if that is needed.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl: You mean he doesn't want us to call him Rick???

Maryann - I hear ya! I have been working on that for the last couple of weeks....This is our 3rd cruise with Disney and the others have only been a week. Now I also have a 21 year old DD and the other is 18, so there goes my bar bill and my spa bill and my Palo bill.....need I say more :confused3

Now I am just trying to figure out how to pack with all these luggage restrictions...

Debi

I won't even tell you how much more having our then 26ds & 23dd on our last cruise added to our bill....... :scared1:

I felt the same way when DS flew to Nevada. He also had a 40 min layover at DFW.I googled the airport and found out there is a tram in the terminals. It got him there faster than if he walked all around and they transfered his bag directly to the next flight. Hope it makes you feel better.

Here is the link http://www.dfwairport.com/terminals/

Thanks Arlene. I will wait to hear from my TA. DFW does have a great tram system, but with all the carry on and racing for the terminal I am still nervous. It is nice that I won't have to leave for the airport at the bu**crack of dawn for our flight. We live about 30 minutes away and I will have to get DD up to take us...on a Sunday morning, her only day off :rotfl:. I guess I will owe her some great gifts from the trip. Fortunately she isn't in to jewelry too much so no emeralds for her.

I am trying not to stress myself out. I just want this to be so perfect for DH, he has had a bad year with the housing market the way it is. We have both worked so hard to afford this trip. And if things don't look up soon he may be joining some of you in the unemployment line when we get back. The company owner has already cut back to 1 part time and DH in the office and he did away with the 401(k) and all vacations (he is letting DH have this one since it was planned so far in advance).

Ouch again!

Et tu, father Mike?

We are just messing with you Mikes! :lmao:

I used advertising fridge magnets that people like the plumber gave us and used packing tape to stick them to the laminated pics. So far they have stuck ok.

That's what I'm going to use. :thumbsup2

CRUISE QUESTION for Monica

Monica, do we have an up to date count on the postcards for the kids?
I went on the pirate: site but still see a number of 70, not sure if that is what we are up to or not. I want to try and purchase the postcards this weekend, I will purchase more then the number we are at but wanted to see what the current number is

Thanks
Jo

Just order ours from vistaprint.

I have one! This is one of our favorites...DD was very young and one night I told her we were going to grab dinner before getting groceries. Well, she LOVED Cracker Barrell, but DH and I were getting tired of that. I told her no, we were going to Olive Garden. On the verge of over dramamtic tears she cries "but I don't even like olives!!!!". I couldn't help but crack up - and she of course got mad!!!!! I had to explain that I was pretty sure they served more than olives!!! We still use it to pick on her!:)

Too funny. DD likes both places!

penny for your thoughts please

Just curious what everyone's thoughts are on this. Well on these 2 issues.
Okay #1
Concerning the age changes... I'm still not keen on my eldest being in the teen section and BEFORE I realized it wasn't up to 14 in the OC I'd mentioned that to her-

ooooh i could use a penny.....

My dd was 13 last trip.... Her friends were all 12 and in the Lab... The Lab would NOT let us sign her up. She felt too young for Stack and OQ was boring and practicly non-existant.

However...If DD does make it "back on ship".... I'm sure Ruby, my dd and Caroline's DD Sarah (14) will have the ship either under their control or at the bottom of the ocean by day 2 or 3.

We are in the same situation with our DD14, (even down to the ADHD and imature!) She sort of thinks she would like it in the stack, but isn't really sure.

Your DD is welcome to join them too....

Don't you mean "down the shore"??

Oh Tom....That is sooooo reserved for us Philly/Joisey peeps....

We're outta here!! Talk to you all on Tuesday.

Todd....will try to call your cell tonight or tomorrow. We'll probably hang at the pool tomorrow if we get the cabana we asked for.

Are you thinking about adding your DD back on to this cruise?

Attended the funeral for my friend today. I was blown away when I drove up to the church and the only available parking was 2 blocks away. Then got inside and it was like a high school reunion. Many people traveled quite a distance to be there.

There was a picnic afterwards that I didn't go to, in the hopes that I would get a call from the potential employer. Since I never got a confirmation call yesterday, and there as some talk of it being at 4:30 today, I stayed home just in case they called. Well, they didn't, so no interview and no life celebration with old friends.

So sorry Monica!

Is it August yet?

I really need a vacation after today. First off, I had to come into work early to pull a 12 hour shift. Before that I had to take my cat to the vet and my car completely died half way there. Then once I got there I had to put my cat down. And then on top of it, I wasn't able to go to Disneyland today. For you that don't know, today is Disneyland's Birthday.

Happy Birthday Disneyland!

This is the first time in 9 years that I haven't been there to celebrate its birthday there.

Very tough day!

And to think my wife was yelling at me "Stop trying to get the pirate: and pay attention to the road! You are driving!"

She can be so unreasonable sometimes.....

(Ok, I was actually home when I got it, but was watching while out shopping - not driving tho)

:lmao:

HEE HEE I forgot to mention! I came up with DH's personal theme for this cruise.

Back through the Canal - More Rum, Less Coke

Last time he want through the canal he was prize crew of a fishing vessel they busted with 2.5 tons of cocaine onboard - but no rum!

This time, presumably no coke, but lots of rum!

Sounds like a great t-s****!

Thanks!

Well I am going away from a place that I am not appreciated...(appreciated by kids but not necessarily the ones that should show it)A big stress relief...

I am getting more hours at another job (with kids),have a PT job at Bed and Bath and I will be able to focus on my PERSONAL artwork...It's a good thing and knowing of this change I can fully enjoy our TOAL w/o the dread of going back to that place....

Chrissie

Chrissie I'm so glad you made a decision that has obviously given you a lot less anxiety!

Personal artwork??? Tell me more! :cool1:

Purchased. Not nearly as cool as some of the ones I see here, but it will be fine.

I was actually surprised on the Med cruise, given all the fuss about pirate night, how few people actually did dress up. I figure it should be more this time at dinner (because so many DISers are together), but even so, I expect when wandering around the ship, anyone where a costume will still be in the minority.

So, kudos to those dedicated enough to make, buy or steal a truly authentic looking pirate costume. And hurrah for those of us who have the nerve to walk around in a cheap vinyl one from an online costume store! And thank God for the vast numbers of other swabbies who aren't wearing costumes who will think we are cool for dressing up regardless of which one we choose :cool2:

Aw I'll still think you're cool Dan! Cooler than us because we're just wearing our black pirate t-shirts. At least we're getting 2 uses of them! ;)

Last time we stayed at the DLH this was going on. Noisy in the early AM but once the sun got up, they went away. We're early risers so it didn't bother us, but if you are a party hearty type and sleep in......

It lasted about 3 days then stopped.

Andy

Oh yes I'm just a ray of sunshine at 6am! :headache:

Oh well good news is that I should be so dead to the world, that I won't even hear them! :lmao:

PARTY IN THE BRIG!!!

Aw that IS bittersweet!

Now I really am out of here. Leaving tomorrow for Vegas. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Have fun Stace! :dance3:

I'm so sorry that this flight info has definitely added stress to your stress.

OMG I have not been on the boards in a few days, and I am 100 pages behind.
Happy Birthday to all I've missed
Happy Anniversary to all I've missed
Prayers to all that need them.
I have a stateroom, no longer guarantee. HOORAY!!
We are in stateroom # 2132.
Just think 30 days from today we should all be on the boat, eating, drinking and having fun. I really can not wait. It needs to come quicker than it is though. Gotta go ketchup a little and get back to work.

Just got online and got our flight information. We don't arrive in LA until noon. I am a little worried. :scared1: We only have 40 minutes to catch a connecting flight in DFW.:confused3 Fortunately we are fairly familar with DFW as that is where my inlaws live. So I am sure we won't be seeing anyone in the terminal and hope to make the Sail Away meet. So keep your fingers crossed for us to make all the connections and get on the ship before it sails.:scared: I was hoping letting DCL make the arrangements would make it easier.

Gotta be honest, that would make me nervous. The storms can be bad that time of the year here. As you know terminals mean everything here. If you have to switch terminals you are going to have a very hard time making that short a connection.
What airline are you flying?

First, I would suggest getting on the phone with their air/sea department and expressing your concerns. The good thing about them booking is that you know you'll get on the boat - even though they might have to put you up and fly you to Cabo to make that happen. And chances are things would work out ok - but how could you not be nervous?

Second, be sure to follow the usual precautions of having everything critical (medications, papers, etc.) and an extra day of clothing in your carry-on. Because even if you make the connection, there's a chance your luggage won't. This can be very traumatic, but if you have adequate insurance it's not the end of the world (most of my souveneir clothing, T-shirts, etc. ended up being paid for that way on the Med cruise - our luggage caught up with us several days into the cruise).

Again, odds are in your favor, but it's best to be prepared (both mentally and logistically).

Turns out she has an outside room and I am in an inside. I still offered to switch but doubt I will be taken up on my offer. ;) :rotfl:

:lmao:
Well in that case...I have a primo air-tight, lock-wall-view cabin if anyone with a pesky breeze-inducing verandah would like to trade with me.

OK the most disturbing thing is happening to me.
I work from home and keep the tv on as background noise but it is behind my computer armoire so I cannot see it. I was working yesterday and heard an ad that started with "I am Bryant Herzog..." I about flipped out of my chair. This is the Dr. that I feel was extremely incompetent with my oldest DD birth. Did not hospitalize me when I was 20 weeks pregnant, dialated to a 2 and 50% effaced in active labor-and we were down the hall from the OB ward IN A HOSPITAL!!
Apparantly the med spa biz is better than being a OB (especially if you stink at it). It just brings up so many painful scary emotions. If it was on the same time I would just turn in the radio.
Hopefully he won't get any business and will not be able to afford the ads for very long.

:grouphug:
I sorta know how that is. I'm sorry.

Sounds like a great t-s****!

Last night, I scanned a photo of DH's team sitting on a couch made of coke bricks to make a door magnet!

Personal artwork??? Tell me more! :cool1:

Well, being an art teacher I was creating art work because I was teaching it. Not necessarily the subjects I wanted or take the time I wanted with pieces. Now I can focus on my own talent and not just draw for me while on vacation (which has been the only time I have done work these days!)

So doing artwork for me because it is my passion (one of many) and getting the joy out of it again! People have said they would show my work and some even buy it!

So I want to create again (and finish Cheryl's Mickey and get the courage to finish my late Aunt's work)

Thank you for asking :flower3:

Chrissie

 ..we have 2 connecting rooms..but on the wrong deck.

..not that i was hoping...'a lil'~space"..from "us~and our boys". i can

..., well actually afraid..being on the room tour..& someone getting mixed up

..and that's just from the dirty..laundry, :rolleyes1

* not a magical moment, for sure....:flower3:

ATTENTION PIRATES!!!
I'm not Cheryl, but I can play her on the thread.

Do you want to have a big group picture of all 400-and-some-odd of us??
In addition to Todd's Flying Dutchman CC picture, that is. I'm thinking between dinner seatings or sometime during the afternoon on a sea day. Maybe PC day, while everyone is in "uniform".

If we want to do this, someone needs to volunteer to contact Shutters and organize it ASAP so we all know when and where to show up.

Any takers??

M I can take this on. The LA limo tour has been all planned & set so I have some time to organize this. I'll call DCL now & see if they can help me out. I'll try for the afternoon of PC day if that's okay with everyone?
