(ps. is she on the SM list? if she is- can I ask Laura if I can be her SM? LOL I'm having an "issue" with being assigned a girl that doesn't like girl things- and I spent a YEAR buying stuff I thought Rita would like thinking that meant another girl her age would like it....... but no, I'm matched up with a girl that likes boy stuff! And Laura said she was surprised most fo the girls on the SM list didn't want girl stuff!!! that's a disaster for me... tha'ts all I bought was princesses and tinkerbell stuff and a couple of girly POC things--- I can't afford to rebuy the items... I bought stuff for a year when on sale, when disney stuff showed up in the dollar store and target, etc.-- but it's presenting a problem for Laura to change things. I don't want to give this to a child that is going to be disappointed with a bunch of princesses and tinkerbelle stuff! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I wanna cry. I'm wondering if i should just pull out from the SM thing and just give the gifts I bought to my own kids- they wouldn't know the difference (I'm a nightowl and they'd be clueless LOL) atleast then I'd KNOW the kids would be happy instead of disappointing someone else's child. :( But I know Claire would love the stuff I bought!)

This is why I haven't started buying SM gifts. The greatest thing about SM is that you get to know other people that you may not have gotten to know otherwise. In the past I've gotten people that I didn't know at all including Laura herself. I also know from experience It's hard enough to organize something like SM (or dining for that matter) without having to meet everyone's special requests, making these jobs nightmares. Sorry, just my 2 cents. :goodvibes

Day 4 sans monkeys. What have DH & I done so far?? Worked. Blah.
Well, at least we're not working on Friday. At least I don't think we are. No, I know we aren't. I'm not going anywhere near downtown on the 4th. Craziness.

Yes, it was the shots. She had two so they are not sure which one she reacted to. Next time they said they will pretreat her and then watch her for a couple hours afterward. It was very scary. I was glad the boys were not with me. I was not sure what was going on. It was at PetSmart so I could see through the glass and there were 3 nurses and a doctor working on her. The nurse came out and said they were trying to stabilizer her. She stayed there most of the day. When I went to Starbucks after I left her there, as I was paying, they asked me if I was having a good day. I started to cry and said no and told her why. She gave me my money back and said my drink was on her - which made me cry more!

She is better but I won't feel better for a few more days when I stop having to give her Benadryl.

I will let you know how she is doing in a few days. Thanks to all!

How scary. I'm glad puppy - and you - are OK.

I AM ON SABBATICAL!!!!

OK. I've got that out of my system.

Carry on.

Yay You!

hi everyone! i havne't been on in a few days! hope everyone had a great weekend. mine was very stressful! my boys went to the hosp last friday to get the tubes put in their ears. youngest ds fared pretty well fri, but the anesthesia knocked the older one for a loop! he had the procedure done at 8am...with very little anesthesia...and he was still throwing up when he went to bed that nite! i felt awful for him!! youngest ds was hit harder the next day. he had his adenoids done also..and the pain got to him on saturday. the pain meds make him very whiny and loopy...so it's been a difficult past few days! we also had a yard sale on saturday. i mistakenly thought i would have time to work on pricing things on friday...but that never got done due to ds's not being well! so...i stayed up late on friday nite with the intentions of pricing sale stuff. i decided to check emails at one point, and when i got online, i started chatting with an old freind....and we ended up staying up all nite chatting...i never went to bed! not what i needed to do when i ws short on sleep anyways!
oh well...things are settling down now...so i can finally check back in here! has there been any more info on the busses from hojo to the port? any other imp info i should know about? i guess i'd better go check out the pirate board...and try to get caught back up!
have a great nite everyone!

Here's hopin' this weekend is better. I hope everyone is feeling better now.

Just got an email from Chris (GrandmaX3) live from the Magic. She's having a good time but has discovered she doesn't like inside cabins. Says it's been chilly since leaving LA, but Cabo was nice. They are on their way to Mazatlan tonight.

Hey Monica, Thanks for sharing. I wanted to let you know that I also have reservations for Kystal in PV. We have a couples massage set up for 1:30. Hope to see there.

OK, am I the only person looking for Prince Charming's legs sticking out of the carriage door with Cinderella's????

Thanks for the image....

I KNOW! I asked them why it happened since she has had them before. They said it could happen at any time.

Yes, Casey never reacted until she was 5. She swells up horribly in her shoulder area and could barely walk.

They thought it was the lepto shot but she still reacts to the regular ones but not as bad.

I also know from experience It's hard enough to organize something like SM (or dining for that matter) without having to meet everyone's special requests, making these jobs nightmares.

We try our best with what we have....:thumbsup2 but there are limits we're working with too. (ie everyone can't sit at the same table:rolleyes1 )

I KNOW! I asked them why it happened since she has had them before. They said it could happen at any time. They can have this reaction or swell in the face, etc. The first sign was her throwing up within 5-10 minutes of the injection. I didn't think all that much of it because she has been known to get car sick and such. I don't think she would have made it if I hadn't taken her back! I could not believe the way they reacted when I walked in. I hadn't even got the words out that I thought she was having a reaction and they had taken her from me. My suggestion to anyone in the future would be to wait around for about 15 minutes before leaving the office.

So thankful that she is okay. I can't believe I never heard of this happening before and now I am scared to take my dalmatian in for her shots next week. I think I will mention it to the vet just to be on the safe side, not that I can prevent it from happening. Thank goodness you took her back and they were able to stabilize her. My dog is like my oldest kid so I would have been a mess. Just reading about your visit to Starbucks left a tear in my eye......there are some good people left in the world!

Not sure about it being free - seems like a lot of people are getting incorrect information on that. The Disneyland Express is run by Gray line. http://graylineanaheim.com/airport_info.cfm
THIS IS NOT FREE!!! I bought transfers from them for my family from LAX to Hojos and while they are not too awfully expensive, its definitely NOT FREE.

I picked up a bottle of ginger root tonight - I will also be bringing bonine as well as seeing my doctor about the patch (which will be my last resort).

You can change the dates on without a problem, just make sure that you do it prior to any of the penalty windows. We will probably book a dummy date ourselves and then move it for one the new ships come out in 2011 or 2012.

Just a tip on any of the meds. Take them before the cruise to get it in your system. I use the ginger. DH has anti nausea meds he takes with him but never had to use them. It def is an inner ear thing. I had a bout of vertigo and after many tests was prescribed Claritin which cleared it up immediately so they will also be packed. Boy this list of meds and first aids is growing!!!

Glad the kids are thru the worst. I sooo remember having my tonsils out when I was 6. My DGD had the Adenoids and tubes done but she was still in the hospital a few days so they took care of her there.

72 in sunny Longwood going to be a 90 sort of day. Today is my Friday. Yesterday had to get the alternator replaced. grumble grumble.Nothing funner than driving home at night and having everything go dark on you. Got the car home ok. We thought it was the battery and replaced that on Sat. So that was my exciting weekend.

I like your suggestion -- I had feared the carriage door doubled as a guillotine and had cut the poor princess in half!:scared1:

I had a dog (no longer with us, sadly) who had a reaction like that -- he recovered completely and afterwards they always gave him a cortizone shot at the same time as any other shot and we stayed at the vet for a while just to watch him afterwards.

By the way, one of my dogs is Belle too (the other is Linus)! Hope your Belle is fine today.

have a great nite everyone!

Sorry to hear it was so hard on them (and on you!).

I'm glad she's having fun. I hope she doesn't have an inside cabin for THIS cruise!!

I'm pretty sure she and her husband have a verandah on the TOAL and she has a porthole on the 5 night she is doing solo afterwards . . . I know she had a porthole room on the Med repo last year and was fine with that room.

Did you know that we have a ton of kids listed on the kids page who would like to e-mail in advance of the cruise. The kids are listed under parents DIS name, so a parent to parent contact must be made first.

We have

11 3-7 year olds
27 8-10 year olds
26 11-13 year olds
12 14-17 year olds

Thanks Tina. They keep changing those over the counter medications and we don't deal with them in the hospital. Cyclizine is a relative of Meclizine and is much less sedating than Dimenhydrinate (Dramamine). I see that it can be given to children 6 and older which is better than 12 and older with meclizine. You can take it as well :cool1:

Thanks Roger. I figured it was OK, but you never know. I am stocking up for TOAL. I'll take Bonnie everyday as I've had inner ear problems before. As I get old it seems I can feel motion more! DD has only complained once or twice on a 2 cruises, but it is best to be prepared. Of course with dd I have to make sure I have a good supply of Neosporin and band aids!

June, I hope she is better today.

I had VBS all last week (I'm the leader for the craft area) & dh was out of the country and I just had an all around bad week..........

:scared1: VBS craft leader? That is the most hectic job at VBS IMO. Bless you!

BTW, when does your oldest ds and Samantha leave for WYD2008, again? Please give them my best and tell them to tell Benedict I said "hi" :wave2: :goodvibes . I will keep them in my prayers.

This will be ds's third year for Catholic Youth Summer Camp. He absolutely loves it! One night they have Benediction and Adoration on the beach (at a lake) and after Confession they place a candle on the altar and pray silently for a couple of hours. Believe it or not, this is just about every campers favorite night of the week. There is no doubt in my mind he would love WYD. Did Samantha go last year as well?

Happy Belated Birthday Claire!!!

Sorry I missed this yesterday, but princesses get to celebrate all month long!;)

We used Bonine...which is very similiar to Dramamine. For some reason our doctor and pharmacist recommended Bonine over Dramamine for the kids and I don't remember why! lol

I think people are discussing the other options, as they don't have any negative side effects as the meds do..ie: bands, ginger

MY DH got a prescription from his GP for Phenergren. On our first cruise, we had a rough night going into the Bahamas, and we all took it and were fine. Didn't need it the rest of the cruise. Since then I have been on a few cruises, and never had to take it again (although we always pack it). Guess I got my sea legs!

Morningpirate: just a quick driveby posting to say HELLO! I sure don't know where my time is going, but I miss coming here to play. Yoou all have a great 4th and weekend.:goodvibes

Just don't expect the book to be like the play - whoa!

LOVE both authors! JE keeps you laughing, JP keeps you thinking. My Sister's Keeper is being made into a film.

Little late on this conversation, but I love Janet Evanovich. Discovered her last year and read the 13 SP series (didn't know the 14th was out - thanks for the info). Can kind of relate to a lot of it, living here in Staten Island, which is so very close to Jersey. I also discovered James Patterson last year and love his stuff too. Read all of the Women's Murder Club and am now working on the Alex Cross novels. I picked up a Jodi Picoult book, but haven't read it yet, maybe I will save that one for the cruise....

If you are interested in trip reports from the Westbound and Mexican Riviera cruises, check the website for an updated list. Lots of good info, a few bad reviews and a few nightmare disaster cruises (not DCL related).
