Wow.

The Orlando Sentinel had an article about vacations and equated us DISers as being members of a Disney cult. The author of the article got that from reading some of the DIS entries.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/columnists/orl-miket1208jun12,0,7711569.column

Good thing he did not come to this thread. We would have been given a much more severe label! :lmao:

OHhhh Boooyyyy

....so they think we've taken on a cult-like traits, eh?

I duhn-no 'bout that?

However, will someone pass me another glass of Kool-Aid?

Nooooo!

Not THAT Lemonaid stuff again???....

Horror of horrors........

Went to the Disney store at the local mall (Capitola CA) to get DD a new outfit for pirate night.......and........its gone, boarded up, no signs or anything

What is the world coming too?

Andy

Our Local Disney Store is also closing. The manager told Alicia something to the effect - that our local store was one of a few that were currently planning on closing in either Califonria or the nation (more likely California).... and that our store was closing because thier rent had just increased tremendously while their sales volume was a fraction of a neighboring store in NORTHRIDGE which enjoied rents which were much lower! Of course, the new folks runnning the Disney Stores might not have noticed our particular mall is in the midst of a major rennovation - something that's supposedly costing 100s of millions of dollars. All for what...??? They're building a multi-floor parking structure, renovating an anchor to become a Nordstrum, adding a formal food court, improving the rest rooms to include nursing stations, family rest rooms and adding an outdoor wing that will feature a multi-plex cinema and several "high-end" restuarants. Plus the rest of the place is getting a "freshening" once over.

Oh well... like you, I guess we'll have to wander further afield to get our Disney Store "fixes".... :confused3

110 cabins as of 6/29/08

So IF we had an average of 3 per cabin - than this subset off our thread represents a mere 330 souls? That's just 10% of the "FULL CAPACITY" of the Magic.... 3325. Gee.... I thought we would have had MORE folks involved, really?

OK...

... I'm pretty tired and am turning in now (abruptly). We had a nice time CAR-camping in South Sequoia. we seemed to have escapeed the BAD air quality fromthe NorCal fires... and today (sunday) we did a little call 1-3 white water rafting thing. It was mild but great fun for the kids. And now we're back in bakersfield - enroute to Visalia for business.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Wwarmest birthday wishes to everyone who had a birthday, anniversery or other noteworthy event which I missed. And may I offer diplomatic good cheer and prayers to al in need of such these past few days. For the entire duration of the present thread I have NOT been reading many pages to catch up ... yet I hope to maybe tomorrow. I have a certain bit of free time .. maybe.

I'll try to post a few pictures tomorrow...

Oh well... like you, I guess we'll have to wander further afield to get our Disney Store "fixes".... :confused3

I have to take a 1 1/2 hour ferry ride and then drive about 40 mins. to get to the closest one to me. Hoping it's still open when we go to Vancouver in a couple of weeks. I need a Disney fix. :goodvibes The next closest one is in the States near Seattle - I think.

Now I feel spoiled. There are two Disney stores within 15 minutes of here and it seems both will remain open (Oakridge Mall and Valley Faire Mall). I guess they must both be profitable (hard to imagine rents being low at either location).

oh carp 11:00 am...Uh guess that means i might have to make my own bed that day.

Ignore the dirty towels too....

If we were a little later in the day....better chance that everyone room will be straightened up already by cabin stewards.

I know..but unfortunately..any later that day and I will be getting ready for my VR....maybe those donating can ask their room attendant if they can make thier room up first or earlier. Any later in the cruise and there will really be stuff all over...we will ignore dirty towels and unmade beds...promise!

I plan to ask our cabin steward to take care of the room early that day. Personally, I volunteered our cabin because of the time. I wouldn't want to do this any later.

G'mornin' pirate:s
I tried to ketchup, but got really really confused, so I skimmed a bit.

We had a decent weekend. Saturday we drove 1/2 way to Ohio (Somerset, PA) to meet my brother and pass the kids off for 2 weeks of Camp GrammyGrampy. They were at my dad's house this weekend for a very manly 2 days (my 61yo Dad, 87yo G-pa and 25yo DB live together in what equates to a grown-up frat house!). They ate meat-lovers pizza, played baseball, grilled breakfast, whittled, and went golfing. :rotfl:. My dad still works FT so the monkeys are at my retired in-laws during the week.

DH & I drove to Scranton & spent yesterday riding a 30-mile rail-trail that I had to map for work. It was a nice day.

M, How many grumbly Mondays til TOAL?

Seven.
Seven grumbly Mondays. Today is the 5th Monday in June. Yuck.

Re-reading my post..I wanted to clarify something...I did not mean to make it sound as tho the cabin tour was all about me...and that my VR should make the rest of everyone unhappy with the tour...it was simply a time that I chose awhile back. If everyone would like it later in the day...please let me know...

Eh... I'm only peepin' at the rooms, but I think 11am is fine. I'll have had breakfast and a drink o the day by then so it's good for me.

I spoke with the Cellular At Sea folk - unfortunately, none of the prepaid cel phone plans will work. So I'll probably end up bringing my Sprint phone.

I would not expect Vonage or Skype to work. The connection speed tends to be quite poor and it wouldn't surprise me if DCL blocks the necessary ports for those services.

Morning :goodvibes

Dan, I think I read they did block the Skype and my Vonage would need a really good connection and everyone complained in their TRs about the internet.

I figured I would put together the cabin numbers and we would just go how they were on the deck..or we can go highest to lowest or lowest to highest..I just thought they may lead to excess walking...

What does everyone think?

I would say start with the lowest deck and keep working our way up . . . yes, it means walking up stairs or waiting for the elevator, but then you are going up in category as you keep touring. But I am fine with whatever you decide!

Sometimes...I post and it comes across different then I mean it to...I really do not mean to offend anyone - this is everyone's cruise and I want you to be happy :goodvibes

Goodness, Desiree, it didn't strike me that way at all! Thanks so much for doing this! Anything you decide is perfect.

T

Do you realize we could have been having lots of conversations free on our cell phones!!:scared1: I have T-mobile too!!!

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

By the way, anyone who plans on using their cell phone or even having the option to use it for an emergency, remember to check that your international roaming is turned on. For my plan on t-mobile, doing that doesn't cost anything extra, you only pay if and when you make the international call, so I have left it on since the Med last year.

I was reading the "Pirate Roll Call and Directory" thread on TPZ yesterday to copy down all families that had a DD8 so that our own DD8 could see how many other girls her age would be along with us. I noticed that many families have posted, but some have not specified the ages of their children. I would like to encourage everyone to do so, since those children who are looking for a friend near their own age might never hook up with someone whose age is not listed here. Thank you.

Looking forward to making many new friends on the cruise.

Well, if you plan on invading the Roy, I would start on deck 1 and work you way up. ;) :rotfl:

Actually us east coasters will be up bright and early....

I plan to get some gym time in and then back to get a shower before the tour.

That's one benefit of spending a week in CA before the cruise that I didn't realize until later. We should be adjusted by the cruise so we won't miss out on the late night activities.
