Ever had ones of those days, felt a pain in my shin / calf mussel on Wednesday night, got worse on Thursday so went to my local GP (Doctor) today expecting a strain.

I might have pulled a ligament, and its very painful, but the GP referred me to A&E (Accident and emergency) Hospital and I had to have tests and will be having injections all weekend every 24 hours until Monday. The mussel might have come off part of the bone, and they are worried about the possibility of DVT, so being careful.

Seems I have done a bit more damage than I thought, so feet up all weekend,

Andrew sorry to hear of this. Did you do something to cause this or was it spontaneous? I have not learned my lesson that at my age I should not run. Something similar to this happened earlier this year when I tried running with the dog. I tore/ruptured my plantaris muscle behind my knee. I thought I was going to die. I also thought about the possibility of a DVT since there was a lot of swelling. I was told to follow the RICE technique (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate).

Hi Roger - Waaaay back when we booked this, it was only the first few days it was being talked about and I am certain I didn't tell them we were with Roger. Is that a problem? Should I contact them again to tell them?

Pamela

I am going to send them a list of everyone in our group in a couple of weeks to ensure we are all together. Just make sure you have your name on the planning board.

Stacey I am not sure if there were jellyfish in the water that I would even go in with or without Safe-Sea. Love you pictures! :thumbsup2

After Frances made the first jump into them in Cabo, I wasn't about to try it again.
They told us there were jellyfish at the beach in Mazatlan, and they had warning signs up, but everyone (except me and Frances) got in anyway and didn't see any or get stung.
By the time we got to PV, they again told us that the jellyfish were there, but people were in the shallow part of the water on the beach and no one was getting stung, so I did get in and get wet there.
While we were swimming out to the platform where the sea lion was, I didn't see any....but then, I had no glasses....and I never did see them, although the others in the sea lion swim did....I could just feel them stinging. But by golly, I'd paid 60 bucks to be out there, and wasn't about to quit.
The gel sting relief really did help a lot. And at least no one can call me a wimp!!::yes::

One interesting thing on that cruise....no one other than a few DISers, and maybe 2 other families, dressed for pirate night. It was really kind of sad to be in the dining room and at the party, with no one dressed up.
WE obviously won't have that problem!
And the ships' Captain Jack looked stupid. Not at all like he should have, IMHO.

Also, ONLY the DISers had their doors decorated. At least it made it easier for the FE gifts.
I heard several people each day commenting about the signs, and saying they wished they'd thought of it....and by the end of the cruise, some people had made signs on plain white paper and taped them to their doors.

It is definitely a lot more fun to be on a cruise with a large DIS group. :yay:

Yes I am used to being a pain in the butt. ( or having one) this time in the belly, twice today, and every day till monday, Tiger Woods is playing 18 holes on me on Monday.

Isn't the British Open coming up? :)

Best wishes for your quick recovery.

Also, I don't know if anyone saw my thread on the Main boards, but the gift basket that I ordered from Mouseshoppe was fantastic!! It had a 12 pack of Pepsi in it that saved my life. And Jared loved all of the snacks. He had even requested one that they don't normally put in, and thought it was awesome that they added it for him.....Club crackers with cheese. :goodvibes

M looking at the area where you rode I am a bit jealous. It looks like really cool. Today I tried to get out early because of the heat. 80F when I started at 8am and up to 95F by 8:45 when I got home after cutting my ride short. I have used traillink before and wish they would do some more out here in CA. Rest up OK. Have not run into any bears out here but did come across a coyote last week. Kind of made me nervous as to whether it was going to chase after me.

I hate hot. :) Coyote would be pretty scary as well. And the mountain lions in CA don't excite me either.

We are mapping CA this summer - the rail-trails at least. It should be on the website sometime this fall. CA guidebook will be published in 2009.

I got really spoiled by the CA weather!! 85° during the day and in the 60's at night......perfect!!
I missed a 114° day while I was gone! :headache:

Gotta love being back in the desert. Yesterday I came home with groceries, and wasn't watching where I was walking, and stepped on a tarantula. Later last night we had a big ol' wolf spider on the front door. I wouldn't have killed the tarantula if I'd seen it....they are good guys and eat the other icky bugs.

'cause CJS is usually so normal looking? :confused3

:)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Yeah, you got me there.....

This guy was too short, too skinny and didn't have the makeup right. It looked like they had just plastered as much as they could on him without trying to make him seem authentic.

No pictures Todd, I just looked. Sorry. I guess I have to walk the plank now.

Oh Kim
That reminds me - car seats and seat belts on the pirate bus.

Okay - the buses do NOT have seat belts nor do they require car seats for children (must be an exception to the ordinance). They said a child could be strapped into a car seat that sits on the regular seat. BTW - none of the bus companies I contacted had buses w/seat belts.

AND - because so many pirates will have a lot of luggage (thank you to Kristina for mentioning that fact!!!!) we are going to have 4 buses not 3 so that everyone's luggage will fit!!!

Thanks for the info on the seatbelt/carseat situation. I was wondering too.

Kim,

I encountered this situation unexpectedly when my DD10 was about 18 months. We put the car seat on the bus and my husband took a strap off a garment bag and strapped the car seat to the bus seat. Not a great solution, but with a squirmy baby, it was better than running up and down the aisle. I think I will be prepared this time with a strap of some sort and we'll just go with it. It will be safer than trying to hold him in my lap (although neither option coinsides with my "safety mom" reputation!).

I'd be interested in knowing what you're planning to do...

Ummmm....I might have at the party. But he honestly wasn't worthy of taking a picture. Rather freaky looking.

Awww so thats what you call me behinds me back ...LOL

Just a tad bit off normal ...lol

Thanks for the heads up M. I will have to venture out the fall and ride some of these.

Stacey you should have stayed the rest of the week. It is 105 here to day and some of the valleys in LA are around 110+. I don't mind the heat in the daytime but it only got down in the 70's last night and made sleeping difficult. At least we don't have any humidity. :woohoo:

The humidity does make a huge difference. When we landed in Phoenix, it was 8:30 pm and still 96° outside....but it didn't feel any hotter than the 85° days in CA.

It was spontaneous, Wednesday afternoon, just went and a lot of pain I think I tore a muscle at that time, so went to the Doctor, but he I see went straight for DVT, I looked up some of the tests for DVT, and thats what he did.

The pain was immense, now it has improved slightly, again its 50/50, is it because I am resting it? or is it because of the injections? In hospital funny enough I read about RICE.

So will await Mondays scan.Thank you both for wishes.
