I am not, by any stretch of the imagination, a runner. But I have been trying to shift some weight before the cruise (so far I have lost 17lb and am aiming for another 11lb loss before we head out to Florida on 10th August)

As well as eating healthily I have been exercising and I quite enjoy jogging but I am a bit worried that if I sign up for it everyone will be a proper runner type and I will be plodding along at the back all alone!

I might do a few practise runs at home to see if I can manage it - I read that it is not always on though but it is something I think I would like to try.

Jude - how does the 5K work? I've not heard of that on Castaway Cay until recently.
I'm not a runner, but with the proper incentive (and instruction!) I could get in good enough shape by then (or rather, maybe this is the incentive I need?!!!). :rolleyes1 :cheer2:

Josh has done the Teen Wild Side at CC before and enjoyed it well enough, but isn't doing it this time.

Jen, Jen, Andee and Mel
I haven't done the 5K - have just read about it on the boards. I'm not a "runner" by an stretch of the imagination - definitely a plodder. (actually, my mantra while running is "I hate this, I hate this, I f&^**ing hate this!!" LOL). But I have weight issues and it seems to be the only thing that helps no matter what I try. :lmao: so, I run during my lunch hour at work. And now that I'm running, Tess wants to go with me. We're running the Freihofers Run For Women 5K in Albany in late May - it's a race for only women and girls and there are usually about 3000 participants. I won't say it will be "fun" but we're looking forward to actually finishing it!!

Jen, does Josh have any reviews on the wild side excursion on Castaway Cay?? Kevin is deciding between that and the jet ski excursion.

Andee, thanks for the vote of confidence on Boma's. When we couldn't get 'Ohana's, that was our substitute. So we were a little nervous!!

Now I have my fingers crossed for those reservations at Palo's...!!!
Have to run to work. have a great day everyone!!! :cheer2:

Mel - 17 pounds...Good for you! :thumbsup2

I wanted to try to get a bit healthier before the cruise (and loose a bit of weight) but have not been very good about it. I think I must get motivated again. I keep finding excuses to not follow through with my plans but knowing that others are doing it...I must get back on track.

I wonder how many of us are trying to loose weight before the cruise...

Count me in on trying to lose a few before the cruise. I started kickboxing 2 days a week in February and now I'm back to walking 5-6 days a week. I had a stomach bug last week which helped kick off my weight loss (although I do not recommend that method ) but it has gotten me back in the mind frame to not eat out of boredom, etc.

I tried making some ADR's this morning but I could only book Monday 8/10 so far. My next day was Wednesday 8/12 for Chef Mickeys which has to wait until tomorrow (we're not staying onsite before the cruise). I may try to LeCellier for lunch that day too.

Hubby and I decided to stay Friday night before the cruise in Cape Canaveral, will try to book the Radisson. We stayed there in 2003 and the kids loved the pool. We are going to take them to Kennedy Space Center for the day and the Radisson has a package rate which seems like a good deal. We will also be that much closer to the Magic on Saturday morning. We like to be at the port when it opens, just builds the excitement.

Our friends are not CC members, nor are they PIF yet so I'm going to have to book our Palo ressies as a table of 2 and upgrade first thing when we arrive onboard.

Hi Gina, I didn't realize you couldn't just book a table of 4 at Palo - so you need to list who is sitting at your table, and they have to be on your ressie (or paid in full) to be included? :confused3

Kickboxing has always appealed to me...but I'm not in good exercise/aerobic shape to join in (yeah, I know, you need to start somewhere...):rolleyes1 It's on my list of things to do in 7 years when the kids are grown and gone  - actually - it pains me to even type that! I will NOT be a good empty nester!

Hi Princessh,
How old is Timmy? I mentioned this excursion the other day to my 16 year old; I know he'd like it. However, we are officially signing up to do the Doubloon Snorkel as a family in St. Thomas; I figured if Josh had kids he wanted to do the Eagle with once on the cruise, I could switch it out at Guest Services.

We are also doing the Baths at Tortola; we are "doing it on our own" - taking the water taxi/shuttle and spending a few hours at the beach there.

Getting psyched!:woohoo:

Timmy will be turning 14 right after the cruise.

Do you mind sharing how you are doing the baths on your own? We have been looking into the two ferries, and a private company. Based on the reviews I have been reading the Disney tour is just too short. I am really unsure on what we are going to do.

PoohJen,
When we cruised in April 2008 and I made the Palo reservations it listed those in our party who would be eligible to dine there. My parents were linked with our reservation so I was able to check them off and get a table of 4 even though they were not Castaway Club members (but they were paid in full when the window opened at 90 days). This time around our friends who are first time cruisers to Disney will not be paid in full yet when I book on Sunday so I'm assuming that I won't be able to select them for a table of 4. I could be wrong, Andrew...do I have my assumptions correct?

A few of my friends decided to try kickboxing when one of them was already taking it at her son's karate school and she talked us all into joining her. The first month was pure torture, but it's getting better. The hardest part for me is the actual cardio warm up. Who would have thought at 41 years old you aren't coordinated enough anymore to jump rope :confused3. We do have fun laughing at ourselves.

I unfortunately have some said news I have decided to cancel this cruise.

That is a shame but I am sure that your decision has been reached with much thought. I hope you are able to enjoy the Magic sometime in the near future.

:banana::banana::banana:Paid in Full!!!:banana::banana::banana:

I asked my TA about Palo ressies if our friends were not PIF and she thinks I'll be able to include them on Palo but not for spa or excursions. We'll see on Sunday what happens :confused3.

Hi All,

I am back from an excellent time at Disney World :thumbsup2.

Getting ready for the booking window this weekend. I paid in full a few weeks ago, but I have a couple of questions.

First of all, am I correct that I can sign on at midnight Sat. night:surfweb:?

Also I am very interested in doing the Sea Trek Helmet Dive at Coral World, but my daughter doesn't weigh enough, so my husband was thinking of doing Coral World Marine Park by Land and Sea with her. They both include the same bus time and 90 minutes of free time at Coral World. Does anyone know if they leave at the same time so we could enjoy our park time together? Also has anyone ever done the Helmet Dive or the Nautilus submarine? How are they?

Lastly my DH is clostrophobic, do you think he would feel uncomfortable in the nautilus semi-submarine?

Can't wait to meet all of youl:hug:

It is so exciting to reach the PAID IN FULL point! Good for you! :thumbsup2

Hope you can get your friends in for what you need!

Seeing as the cruise is getting closer and closer and closer :scared1:
I think it is time to :surfweb: get going on planning !!!
(1) We are driving :car:to Port Canaveral after spending a week at Myrtle Beach:banana:. What time should we try to get to the port to avoid the crowds ?
(2) Due to booking a little late, we have late dining. Do you think that would be a problem with twin 7 year-olds ? In regards to the shows and activities at the kids club ? Can I get that changed at the port ?
(3) Can we request a dining rotation and if so what would be the best ? Bear in mind we want to do Palo supper and brunch.
(4) What is the difference between Formal and Semi-formal ? Do my 3 boys and I require suits ? It would be  to get my teenager to wear a tie and jacket !!
(5) We are in cabin 8088 ( cat.4) is it a good location ? What about noise ?
(6) Trying to figure out how mauch $$$ to bring. What do I require cash for that I cannot charge to my account ?
(7) Considering that we will spending 7 days together at the beach prior to the cruise :grouphug: and considering that my twins just loved the kids club on our last cruise (NCL), me and the misses would love some us time and some nice meals without the disruptions twins offer..does Disney do a good job of feeding the kids in the clubs ? Or should we feed them first and bring them to the clubs ?
(8) Considering all there is to do ( meals , shows, character signings, pools, sunning, movies, bars / clubs, excursions ) I don't think there are enough hours in a day. If I have to eliminate something, what would you suggest ? (except meals :rotfl::rotfl:)
(9) Will our standard luggage fit under the beds ?
(10) Can we bring drinks onboard such as water, juices, soft drinks, wine :worship: ?
(11) Palo, when is a good day for the supper and brunch ?

Thanks for all your help !!:thumbsup2

(1) We are driving :car:to Port Canaveral after spending a week at Myrtle Beach:banana:. What time should we try to get to the port to avoid the crowds ?

Depends if you want to get on early or avoid the crowds, people arrive early at port opening time of 10am to get a low boarding card, start the cruise as quickly as possible, snag last minute Palo bookings and change dinner time from late to early. If you wish to do this aim for 10am. If you do not want to do that after 1pm is a good time to avoid crowds, the terminal is at its busiest between 10.30am and 11.45am with DCL buses coming in 12.30 pm to 1.30pm.

(2) Due to booking a little late, we have late dining. Do you think that would be a problem with twin 7 year-olds ? In regards to the shows and activities at the kids club ? Can I get that changed at the port ?

IMHO it is late for any kid below a teenager, kids like to eat early evening, so they will hit the snack places on deck 9 early evening eat junk food and then not eat at dinner and may get ratty. You will have them want to stay at the pool and not go to the show. Late dinner ends up to 10pm, and that food lays on their stomach, it also will clash with the start of pirates deck party, at 9.45pm unless you rush your meal. As above you can get to the port at 10am and have a good chance of changing but ask DCL or your TA now to wait-list

(3) Can we request a dining rotation and if so what would be the best ? Bear in mind we want to do Palo supper and brunch.

You can request but it is not guaranteed, the rotation is down to your preferences, many here have requested PLA as that hits Lumière's on formal night and Parrot cay for Pirate night. Answer Palo later.

(4) What is the difference between Formal and Semi-formal ? Do my 3 boys and I require suits ? It would be  to get my teenager to wear a tie and jacket !!

Young boys can just be smart, nice trousers and shirt, no jacket unless you want them to have it on, nice Disney tie if you have one for fun. Formal is the main dress up night, lots of Tuxes but a lot of business suites, Ladies like to dress up a lot. Semi is more Jacket and tie, not suit, can do business suit more relaxed

(5) We are in cabin 8088 ( cat.4) is it a good location ? What about noise ?

Very good location, firstly there are NO bad Cat 4's they all are nice!
Do not believe any post saying they have noise, have had six Cat 4s over 60 days on the Magic and No noise, bar Pirate night till 11pm.

Location is aft, under topsiders so again the noise is not an issue, Topsiders opens about 7am or 7.30am and also at night is open some nights 6.30pm to 8.30pm, people there wouldn't make a noise anyway outside that time no one above you. Its great for a quick drink at the soda station, or bring breakfast back to your verandah.

Aft Elevators are close for access to Parrot Cay and Animators and shutters

(6) Trying to figure out how much $$$ to bring. What do I require cash for that I cannot charge to my account ?

Cash is how long is a bit of string what will you spend it on, most of the ship is charge only by card, no cash required bar Laundry, tips for room service, but can charge, postage stamps at Castaway cay, off ship purchases at ports of call, bar Castaway. See more below

Generally YES lunch is good with the kids clubs they take them to lunch often at Animators and they choose from a menu its OK if your kids will eat anything, IE not picky, they might have an issue, but my son refused the menu and they asked him what he wanted he said Spagbol, and they made him the best Bolognas hes had. Dinner i suggest with the family its buffet at Topsiders.

(8) Considering all there is to do ( meals , shows, character signings, pools, sunning, movies, bars / clubs, excursions ) I don't think there are enough hours in a day. If I have to eliminate something, what would you suggest ? (except meals :rotfl::rotfl:)

Do not sleep!!!!

Its up to you, look at navigators now for Eastern or our cruise, and decide what you like, also when you get the navigator each night for the next day, read it then, get different color highlighter pens for each person and highlight what you want to do, Shows are a must films are nice but you can catch up onshore if you miss

(9) Will our standard luggage fit under the beds ?

Small ones do, large hard case ones do not. Cat 4 has space and you can store near the verandah next to steamer trunk
(10) Can we bring drinks on board such as water, juices, soft drinks, wine :worship: ?

Yes in carry on, not opened do not open or put in luggage for the porters
Carry on

Responses from DCL say on food and drink.

Please be aware that any fragile items and beverages
must be hand-carried on board in a day bag and/or carry-on, which cannot
exceed 22" wide, 14" high and 9" deep.

It must be secure and unopened and be able to fit through the port x-ray scanner.

(11) Palo, when is a good day for the supper and brunch ?

Brunch is on sea days only Sun Mon and Thur any are good if you get a slot, Dinner each night, avoid first and last nights, and up to you maybe pirate night, that only leaves a few nights say Thursday is my preference.
