8/10/2008 - Mexican Party Cruise - Who's Here??

WOO HOO:cool1:

Anyone with GTY status, check out your reservation now. I've been looking every day and today was surprised and thrilled to see that we have been upgraded from a category 8 GTY to a category 6. Verandah. Hope everyone else has the same luck.
Yay! That's awesome! We didn't book a GTY, but I still looked this morning to see if we had been magically upgraded.:wizard: No such luck, but we booked a cat 6, so we'll be very happy with what we have.:yay:

We've decided on the pricier cruises to book Cat 8 since it's high enough up on the ship to make us happy and having a porthole is a must for us..but a verandah is just a nice thing to have when we can. When we cruise in the fall, we book a 5 or 6 since the pricing is so much more reasonable. Then no matter what we do, we try to upgrade at the port. Doubt that we can do it this time but once we were able to go from a 9 to a 3 for less than $1,400 at the port. That suite really spoiled us for a while.

I booked us on the 8:45 Las Caletas excursion. I figure we can snorkel there. DH and I can take turns watching the kids. I only hope the kids can play in the sand there.

That"s exactly our plan, too! Kids will play in the sand as long as they want to while adults take turns to do snorkeling(DH) or kayak (me!) Good choice, Andria!! I originally booked the later tour, but since we really need to get down to HRC and also, this veteran Riviera cruiser mentioned me that it gets way too hot in the afternoon and suggested me to go earlier tour. Oh, wait a minutes, you went to that thread also. She said there will be clay painting and animal encounters. That might interest my kids. Remember, my kids are 6 & 4, so I am sure if they like it, your kids will love it, too!

For Cabo, we are not doing tour through DCL. The glass-bottom boat I am talking about is not really a tour that you book ahead of time (you could, though). It is more like water taxi with sight seeing automatically comes with it. You just go down to the pier and talk to the driver and get in one. You can let it act like a sight seeing boat and just come right back (this is what DCL offers), which takes about 45 minutes wild ocean ride, or you can get off and stay on Lovers Beach for your desired length and later they come collect you. It is about $10-15/adult and normally, kids are free. So this is what we are doing. I hope you can picture it. I will post a link if I find one with better explanation.

My DS6 swims, however, I do not want him in the open ocean. Cabo water can get pretty wild, plus I heard they have jellyfish. My kids are happy just being on the sand.

I am so happy for you and ENVY as well :stir: .
Make sure you let us know where you are once you get the cabin #, OK? :stir:

Dear Karen,

I hope you feel better, soon.

Ayumi :stir: (this time, I am fixing you some good medicine :flower3: )

Can anyone here tell me what the dining rotations are and the times they are. Sometimes the search doesn't find what you are looking for! Thanks!
Now it's back to :drive: and :laundy: !

I'd still like to know the answer to this question if anyone knows..:confused3 .
I didn't post it originally... but It was certainly a question I don't know the answer too! Is Pirate night a sea day or port day???

The glass bottom boat thingy sounds perfect for us. We need to go to Cabo Wabo and check it out at some point. I guess we can get off of the ship and take the boat and hang out at Lover's Beach and then head to lunch at Cabo Wabo. Plus, it sounds like a cheaper option. I figure we are spending most of our excursion money on Las Caletas. I don't feel like spending another $200 on one in Cabo.:sad2: :scared1:

I guess we will be seeing you.

Plus, the later one will get you back a little later. We have main seating so that would cut us way too close. I also need to get back to get ready for Pirate Night which is that same day!

I will be sending out an updated list in a week or so with cabin numbers of anyone in GTY who gets their cabin number.

This is what I have:
Pirate night is a port day, PV-day 5. Formal night is day 2 and semi-formal is day 6.

The dining rotations and times are:
LAAPLAP 5:30 8:00

PLLAPLA 6:00 8:30
One of the recent trip reports confirmed the 5:45 pm APPLAPL rotation.

In case anyone is interested, there are now two departure times for Paradise Beach in Puerta Vallarta. I don't know when they added the second, but there was only one when I made our reservations at 90-days out. They are only 30 minutes apart, but I changed mine to the earlier time so we can scope out a nice spot on the beach or by the pool.:beach: Getting back to the ship earlier and spending less time in the HOT afternoon sun is all good in my book too.

I am so ready for this vacation! :woohoo:

Thank you Jeff for continuing to organize this!:thumbsup2

No problem. By the way Lizzie has been wanting to answer Sami, but she has had a swim meet every night this week. Season is over as of tonight so she'll have some time to be a better correspondent!

What to do. What to do. We are still leaning toward the Westin....

The last 2 cruises Pirate night was on port days....I thought I read somewhere that it would be Thursday night....but can't swear to it....it was one of those lengthy cruise reports. :confused3

When do I know which one I am... we are main seating. Does that tell me anything???

Thanks... I'll have to catch up on some of those lengthy cruise reports!

OK... so I didn't really want to hang a tube sock on my little fishy guy outside my cabin room... so I looked up a thread with some fish extender examples and made my own! You guys were right... people had pictures of their paper gift bags, pirate treasure chest, and the "original" fish extender design. I was amazed and thought  "I can do THIS". So off to Michael's Jenni and I went and I made mine using three 6x6 canvas bags. (I read on the fish extender thread that the limit is 8-9 inches). Anyway... NOW I am :woohoo: excited about this little extracurricular activity! Let the gift buying begin!
