Suzi- Your family sounds lovely. It takes very special people to be a faster family. It's obvious from your posts that your mom and dad have raised you to be a wonderful, understanding and forgiving person. The boys are lucky to have you as a sister, willing to share your parents and your parents as thier parents, raising them the way they need to raised...LOVED! :goodvibes

I have been feeling great! Needed to get back into the swing of things, and getting active again has help boost my spirits :sunny:

Thanks for asking! How about you guys? Everyone doing well! What about your guest home, how's that coming along?

:teeth: What a big family you guys have, too!! We always figured that the baby was the spoiled one, you proved that wrong :rotfl2:

My sister that is closest in age to me is 5 yrs older and I was the baby for a long time...in my siblings eyes. They always catered to me. :teeth: My niece came along when I was 10. I never minded her being around all the time but I hated when my mother would refer to her as my sister, because she wasn't,....ISN"T! She could have easily lived with her own mother(my sister), but my mother felt my sister had too much going on at the time. My sister got pregnant again right after having my niece and wasn't married or anything. Then she did it again. So by the time she was done having kids and she finally settled down and got married, my niece was nearly 4, then all #@** broke loose and my sister and her husband were going through a very MESSY divorce. After that smoke settled, my niece had started school and my parents convinced my sister to wait a while before taking her oldest daughter to live with her. My neice and her mother did not get along. I never agreed with what my parents did to my sister. They made it to easy for her to leave her daughter with them while she continued to make poor choices about her life, but I don't know how I would handle having a grandchild I felt wasn't getting the care they needed. That neice is now pregnant with her own child and not married and living with my parents. :confused3 I get so fumed thinking about the whole deal. I tell my mother she needs to let the kid make her own mistakes. She's 23 years old, it's taking her more than 5 yrs to get a 4 yr degree, she has no sense of responsibility, they are too old to be raising another grandchild...this one being a great grandchild. My niece has potential, but my parents don't allow her to make her own mistakes. They even paid off her credit cards because she willingly quit her current job and doesn't get a paycheck to pay them herself!! The thing is, my parents helped me out when I was 23. My mom helped me get and insured loan, but it was up to me to pay off everything. I worked and worked and worked. I've never been a single parent, not for long anyway, Eric and I got together when Randall was 2 1/2 and before that I was with his dad. But I have made mistakes and learned from them,...its part of growing up!

There, guess I got that off my chest, didn;t I?

Vent away Wendy! ;)

Bless your heart, I see what you mean! I always worry I'm too protective at times with my kids, afterall they all need to make mistakes so they learn from them and move on.

It's hard to learn from your mistakes when someone is there "mopping" up your mess. You already know this!

I hope your mom wakes up and sees that she is only hurting her grandchild by sheltering her too much especially at this age. :wizard: That things go better, your neice may wake up one day and decide it's time to take the reigns and control her life :wizard:

P & PD to your mom and you guys! :wizard:

Cora has a nasty flu bug. She has been coughing sooo hard in the evening. We heat with wood and she has allergies, so the dr says, and I guess the fire is bothering her. Thing is, it doesn't bother all winter, just the beginning when it starts to get cool. :confused3 Other than that Cora is happy to be Cora. She sang the school song all morning while getting ready today. I was about ready to scream after 40 minutes, but she's just so happy at school, it's hard to be mad at that!!
Randall is going through a good spell. He didn't have any homework all week, he got it done in school. He has been busy building a fort outside. He's had a bit more patience with Cora this week, they have exercised with each other quite a bit. He seems healthy. He has a muscle along his spine, what we call a tenderloin if its on a cow or pig or whatever, that gets tight. It sticks out, and makes me uncomfortable when I see it, but he has always had this so he doesn't even pay attention anymore. I think the scoleosis is getting worse, but I have expected that for sometime now. He has been very lucky overall, so I try hard to not complain or even act surprised.
Kayla is home from college this weekend, I'll have to get her back on the boards. She is taking sign language and seems to be enjoying it. Her car was broke down but fixed now. She'll be here later.
I'll have to take pictures of the "guest house". They started priming the walls to be painted yesturday. I gave my paint swatches to Eric so he could mix up the colors. I'm very happy with the colors. I picked out different flooring for the bathroom and bedroom so I changed the color of the bedroom from a brown to a green. Eric is happier with green, he hates brown! The plumber, aka:my brother in law, has been there alot this week along with the guy putting the heating system. It should go quick now. We are going to furnish this apartment so it'll be awhile before it's ALL DONE.

I actually get along with my parents and my niece, but not when they are together. I don't always,...okay, I never keep my mouth shut so one of them is always mad at me! I think it's cause they know I'm right!! :teeth: They get over it eventually.

So are you asking me to keep after you about scrapbooking? I am so far behind myself.....It'll have to be a "do as I say, not as I do." kind of nagging. I'm suppose to go to a crop in 2 wks. I normallly don't do crops, but it's a charity crop. It's 2 1/2 hrs away though and goes from 9-9!! I could rent a room but have only ever spent one night away from Eric and he does't let me forget about it. I probably won't go. Or if I do, I'll leave at 6!

Oh, and before I had kids of my own,....I was the coolest aunt too!! :teeth:
I always had a niece of nephew with me going somewhere and doing something, even was assistant coach for one of the soccer teams!!

Oh thank you that is so very sweet.
Love Suzi

Oh, I forgot to mention I got a stripe on my yellow belt last night. I don't know if anybody else does this, but we get stripes when we get close to testing for the next rank. I just got one last week, so I was quite surprised. I now have 2 stripes. This puts me ahead of Randall because he only has one stripe. If I would have known ahead of time, I would have declined the stripe, I don't want Randall to feel bad, he has been a yellow belt forever, but at the same time, maybe he will work harder. Today after school he is going to my moms. They have a weight bag and he wants to work on a few kicks. My mom will have him practice other stuff too. He takes criticism from her, but not me, so I don't practice with him much. He's a pretty good martial artist, when he slows down and keeps his forms flowing.

Suzi... what a wonderful family you guys are! For your parents to open their hearts and homes, you guys are very lucky to have each other. :grouphug: And we are lucky to have a great loving family like yours to cruise with us :goodvibes
Oh thank you. I'm glad I found this board so that I could meet all of you. This will make this cruise 10 times better and it was perfect the last time.
Suzi

Poor Cora :guilty: Hope she feels better :wizard: I love to hear kids sing, whistle, hum... it's a good sign that they are happy :teeth:

Glad to know that Randall is doing good with school. Hope the scoleosis gets better, bless you guys hearts!

How cool to learn sign language!! We have some hearing impaired kids at our school and I've always wanted to communicate with them. They are always smiling when I see them :goodvibes Tell Kayla she'll have to give us some lessons on the ship!

Well, I'm off to check out the Locks of Love website. Cora has had enough of me brushing her hair out every morning and such. She is ready to have it cut. I think it has to be in a ponytail and the pony needs to measure 10" form top to tip. I'm not sure she has 10 ", but it'll be close. She only wants it cut to her shoulders so we need to make sure she has plent left after the cut! I like her hair long, but not this long. It's hard to put in a pony because it is sooo long. It's sooooo healthy too. It was Cora's idea to donate. I think she'll just grow it out and do it again. She's a selfless little girl, always thinking of others. :goodvibes

Wendy - you vent away, families drive us all mad sometimes. Some people have things handed to them, and others (like most of us) work hard to get where we are. At the end of the day, you should feel proud of what you have and how you got it and that you haven't had to rely on other family members to get there.

Sorry to hear that Cora hasn't been well, I know loads of people who have bad colds or flu since we had a cold snap here a week or so ago.

Well done on getting your stripe on your belt, you've done so well :thumbsup2

The Guest House sounds like it is coming along well, I look forward to seeing some photos

As for scrapbooking, I am so glad that I haven't got into it, it sounds so addictive and it amazes me how much serious scrapbookers spend on their supplies. I think I'll stick to a nice photo album :)
