I found a short year old thread comparing the three, but that was before 7DMT was open.

I think I've got my mom to agree to try out a roller coaster. She hasn't ridden one since Space Mountain in the 70s or 80s when my dad tricked her into riding it saying it wasn't a "real" roller coaster. She was terrified! Poor thing. She will ride tame things like POTC, iasw, etc.

So, which would you recommend for her "first" coaster? Which is the most tame?

-I have only been on Barnstormer once and that was for my 2 year old's first coaster so I wasn't really paying attention to the ride, just trying to make sure he was doing okay (momma bear haha).

-BTMRR I feel like might be too fast and jerky?

-I've read that 7DMT is relatively slow and the swaying of the cars is built in so it's not jerky. Any drops? I'm leaning towards this one...

Thanks!

To me, 7DMT falls somewhere between Barnstormer and BTMRR. It's a very smooth ride and doesn't jerk you around at all.

To me, Barnstormer is a bit more jerky than 7DMT which is smooth as silk. I absolutely do not like drops and I like those three because they don't have anything serious going on. LOL!! I do ride Space Mountain too.

BTMRR is my fav of the coasters. It's jerky, a little rough and fun. It doesn't have any drops only one dip.

I would have her get on Barnstomer and 7DMT and if she likes those, try watching BTMRR pass by from the viewing platform

My mom (72) won't set foot near Space Mountain but she likes BTMRR and agreed to try 7DTM when we go back in November. We haven't rode 7DTM yet.

BTMRR is not at all jerky and remotely fast, she closes her eyes at the curves and main drop but she laughs the whole time. I feel she'll be okay with 7DTM but I'll show the ride to her first, showing her where the dropping happens. I hope she decides to ride it with me.

Like a pp, I would suggest Barnstormer first. If that is a success, move to 7DMT, and if that works, then BTMRR.

I would not pick BTMRR. It is very rough and jerky. My DD(8) has always hated it. We have had a hard time getting her to try other coasters because of it. She likes Barnstormer and Space Mountain. Haven't tried 7DMT yet, but I would lean towards that one. If not, I would start her out on Barnstormer.

Of the three, Barnstormer is the tamest. The best thing is that it's very short so if even she ends up not like it, it will be over with soon. 7DMT was indeed very smooth. I was surprised because it had several little dips in it that causes your tummy to flutter. I'm very sensitive to this motion, so I picked up on it quick. While BTMRR is rough and jerky (not too rough though), it doesn't have as many of those tummy flutter dips. It has two or three bigger ones, whereas 7DMT has multiple little ones. I like the smoothness of 7DMR but was surprised how I got a fluttery stomach multiple times. It was't by any means enough to make me feel sick or bad, I was just surprised. I've learned to tolerate that feeling while riding rides with my girls. If your mom doesn't like that feeling, she may not enjoy 7DMT. BTMR goes the fastest of the three rides and it can slam you into the sides of your seat. I don't suspect your mom would like it.

I find Barnstormer to be very jerky, but it's really short.

7DMT is SO smooth and it slows down when you get in the mine and see the Dwarves. There is a "trick" drop on the ride - when you get out of the mine you ascend a big hill (I thought we would have a big drop), but you then go down two small hills. It isn't very fast either - it's sort of a ride/coaster. I would choose this one.

BTMRR - I wouldn't do this one unless she likes 7DMT or Barnstormer (depending on which you choose) and she's feeling brave.

I'm not a big coaster person and am not a fan of Space Mountain, either, but I will ride Barnstormer, 7DMT and Barnstormer (being my least favorite).

I would start with 7DMT. If she's ok, then do Barnstormer and then BTMRR

Thanks everyone! I guess we'll try Barnstormer first, based on the fact that it is short. I honestly don't even remember it, I was just too excited and anxious about my boy's first ride haha.

My stepdad (not the guy that tricked her 30 years ago!) is dreaming of the day that she will ride ToT with him....yeah right!
