Our youngest is 4 years old so until we have another our stroller days are coming to an end. However, for WDW we always use a stroller. We have two at home that are bulky and heavy for dh to carry. They're both Graco, I believe, so nothing fancy. One just has a higher bar which makes it easier for tall dh and I to push.

Our thrift store has a Peg stroller for $75. It's in very good condition. If I got this I'd probably sell off our two Graco strollers. But the Peg model's handlebar doesn't reach as high. It is a lighter model, though, which would transport on WDW's buses better. Of course, I'd worry about it being stolen in the parks more so than the Graco.

What to do? There are pros and cons to both approaches. I'm terribly thrifty so $75 isn't easy for me to cough up, but then again, for a good buy... ;)

What would you do, keeping in mind I'm thinking about this specifically for our WDW trip next month. Another baby that would benefit from the stroller is a good 2 or 3 years away yet (knock on wood).

That's a nice price for that stroller. Is it in great shape?

I have a Peg Perego Pliko P3 Freestyle and I LOVE IT.

I don't know what to tell you. I'd probably go ahead and do it.

I did a quick google search and the 2003 Venezia is $229 on www.specialtybaby.com

The 2005 was is $280 on the same website.

Do you know what model year yours would be?

Dh and I are both tall but our stroller has an adjustable handle and we have been very happy with it. Does the one you look at have an adjustable handle?

I wouldn't - if you are just buying it for this trip, there are cheap strollers for about $30 that if you lost it down there you would not be upset about.

The handles are adjustable. When I fiddled with it at the store I was able to get it adjusted some, just not as high as I think dh would like it to be.

I don't know the model year. The booklet is with it. It has a note on it from the seller saying it retails at about $300.

And yes, it is in very good condition. I can't find any real wear or tear on it. The fabric is clean and not faded at all.

I'm leaning towards getting it and selling my two Graco's to offset the cost of the Peg. I'm just really worried about it being stolen.

:thumbsup2 IMO, I would get it because it is a great stroller at a great price. I would probably buy a different cheapo stroller for WDW.

I just love our Peg.

With no wear and tear that price is too good to pass up.

What color is it? If you don't mind :teeth: Maybe that will help with the model year. Even if it is a few years old, it's still a good deal.

Not sure how old your other children are but another idea might be to rent the stroller at the park. This way, you will not have to deal with it on the bus and some of the strollers at the park are big enough that 2 kids could ride if the older ones got tired and wanted to just sit and eat an ice cream. For $75.00, you could rent for a few days at the parks. Just a thought.

I dont recommend renting at the parks if you still have a little one that is going to be too tired to walk at the end of a long day. We were so grateful that we brought our Maclaren stroller because it was a longer walk than we expected to the bus stops and to our room from the bus stop. We were so glad that we were not carrying our 4 year old son that far because he was exhausted and we were too.

I'd buy it for sure. You can always re-sell it when you're done too, since Pegs aren't "disposable" strollers and will last a long long time (barring any horrible abuse of course). My philosophy with strollers is to buy good quality (second hand if possible), take good care of it, and re-sell when your needs change. Let's say you buy it for $75 and use it for just a week, then turn around and sell it for $65 (or even more than $75) - you've just spent $10 "renting" it.

Cheers!

If your big worry is about it being stolen then go for it. We just bought a new peg for disney only, but then I decided I wanted a maclaren, either way, both were fine at disney and my son was 3 1/2 at the time of purchase, best $400 ever spent. There are far more expensive strollers sitting there.

:thumbsup2 I totally agree with the above. I doubt you'd have any trouble reselling that stroller for what you paid for it when you're done, which makes it a great deal in the end.

About 6 months ago I found a Maclaren umbrella stroller on clearance 75% off so it was $37.50. I thought long and hard about it because my youngest was almost 3 at the time and we won't need a stroller that much longer. I decided to go ahead and get it and I'm so glad I did! There's no comparison in how the Maclaren handles vs. cheapie strollers. Plus, I'll be able to get my money back out of it when I'm done.

My DD is 3 and is too heavy for me to carry comfortably anymore (she's almost half as tall as me). Looked into the rental thing at WDW but decided we would need it while walking from buses too so bit the bullet and bought a new one.
I did some internet searching and found that Mclaren had a really good rating (and handles are higher for TALL husband but good for me too). When I went to buy it at local store they only had mesh seat style, was worried...but works out GREAT in case of rain, she won't complain about a wet rear!!
Have used it at our local amusement park (Idlewild) and am able to get around all of those gawkers so should be excellent for our July trip!!!
It's always worth the money if you won't have to hear the children complaining about being tired of walking!!!:rotfl2:

Before buying our latest stroller last summer, I looked at nearly everything on the market. My final two choices after test drives in the store were the peg and a maclaren. I go thru strollers like some poeple go thru kleenex but DD was 5 last year so we expected this to be the last one, used only for Disney trips where her legs get tired. DH has heart issues and she's too heavy for me to carry whenever the whim strikes her so despite the criticism it might solicit from onlookers we do still need a stroller.

We ended up with a pink mac quest purchased new from an ebay powerseller. I love it. There truly is no comparison between a good stroller and the less expensive models.
The peg is a good stroller and, as other posters pointed out would be easy to resell at that price.

Initially I was worried about leaving an expensive stroller alone outside rides but after two trips now we've had no problems whatsoever and I no longer even think about it when I park it. There are an abundance of expensive strollers in the parks sitting nearby. I guess they could be stolen, but I figure the odds are against it.
I read somewhere that people are more likely to take your rental stroller than they are to take your personal stroller - especially if you leave belongings in it - we always have an extra rain poncho, blanket or something in the basket underneath so maybe that's true...

I have a Venezia, and it is not the easiest thing to push once you put a heavier child in there. For a few bucks more, you can get a Maclaren which pushes sooooo much better! The downside of the Macs is the tippiness, which isn't a problem at all with the Venezia.

Can you take your DD to the store and put her in the stroller to see how well she fits and how well it pushes with her in it (allowing for smooth, easy surfaces in the store vs. rougher surfaces in the parks)?

DH read to put something that looks like a dirty diaper in the basket (who in their right mind would touch that??) but is actually a cloth diaper with dark cola poured on it. My choice is to buy one of those stretchy rubber bracelets at the local dollar store and put it on one of the handles with a washcloth pinned on the other side. I figure that the washcloth I could run under cold water to help cool DD off under hot July sun.

At 4, my DD would only have used the stroller for WDW, if you aren't planning to use it again, I would get a cheap umbrella stroller and use that. Honestly with using the buses at WDW it was the easiest to fold, light to carry and small enough to push through smaller areas. You could get it and sell it when you get home (providing it stays ok with the flight). Still if your using WDW buses the easiest is the umbrella. We aren't short and DD was at the 95% for height and weight at 4 and we did fine.

I would buy the stroller and resell it after the trip like other have mentioned. Seems like a perfect plan! Also, don't worry about it being stolen. Really, who goes to Disney to steal other people's strollers? And, I've seen bugaboo strollers parked down there! If I was in the market for stealing a stroller, I'd sure take one of those before anything else!! :thumbsup2

We used our stroller twice at Disney and never had a problem. We left our things in it and we tied a ribbon to the handle to so we could identify it easily. We kept water and snack on the bottom in a fold up cooler.
