Would you recommend Universal for a 7 year old who doesn't like dark rides or thrill rides?

check out Kelly Monaghan's book - Universal Orlando; a great source for the 1st time visitor esp as to ride descriptions, etc. The detailed reviews will give u a handle on whether ur son would enjoy them or not

ruling out dark & thrill rides eliminates alot of attractions at any theme park, even MK...a though one. Is he wary of being in relative dark as in a pre-show?for that consideration i voted no

If he can handle Peter Pan/Snow White/Pooh perhaps ET; and surrounding kiddie rides - Barney Show, woody coaster should appeal to him; along with shrek & jimmy neutron.

At IOA, Suessland & the dinosaur adventure area (name escapes me) and kiddie coaster

my youngest DS has older bros & was exposed to Jaws, Terminator, MIB, The Mummy, Spiderman, etc. at an early age via movies so it wasn't a factor for him.

My 6-year-old was very apprehensive of the dark, loud and 3D rides at first. He said he did not like Universal at all after the first two days we were there. We did the baby swap a few times and he didn't like being left out either. I continuously told him that nothing was real - it was all a show put on for us to watch. On the third day he decided to try again and to his own amazement, he loved the rides - knowing that it was all a show. We went on Jurassic River Adventure the first day and he hated it because of the dark area inside the building, but loved the drop. By our last day there he was so comfortable with the dark, loud rides that he ended up going on all of them at least once without any problems - except Mummy and Terminator - we though it best for him to forego those two. His favorite rides/attractions were Dudley Doo-Right's Ripsaw Falls, Jurassic River Adventure, all the ones at Seuss Landing, ET, the water slide at Fievel's playland and Curious George's water play and ball play area.

Sure...there are plenty of things to keep a seven year old occupied at IOA and the Studios w/o having to go inside. :thumbsup2
